Sorry Avatar "Animal sacrifices" are literal in the Bible, I feel. I have an enquiring mind and am fascinated in how Jung and Kierkegaard considered Christianity. I thought starting the trend may be enlightening for me. I respect your view that the bible is 'shit' as it is so full of contradictions. The bottom line is that you don't have to believe in the Bible at all, to believe in evotion and the existence of the soul or the 'spirit world' as I don't believe these are mutually exclusive. The Higher or God is not a concept comprehensible to me. Do you find Jungor Kierkegaard interesting ( as I do)

God Created Man Through Evolution
by maputo95 ini tend to believe that the book of genesis is allegorical and not historic.
the first part including the flood is a creation story similar to many others, although the jewish one has distinct insights into man's relationship with god.
another literary device employed is anthropomorphism or personification as in the talking snake, aka satan.

AA is not the only way to stop drinking and start living! Many have stopped by using other therapies and none at all. However, it worked a treat for me and opened my spiritual eyes. I am very grateful to AA but I would not push it down anyone's throat, never!

Hi All
Is there a link to JW involvement and hypochondria? Are people made mentally ill from their involvement in a cult? I mean all those gory pictures of people being destroyed at Armageddon must impinge on impressionable child-like minds. Nothing a 1000 hours of auditing can't solve. Lol!! My ex -JW friend whom I love dearly has a big hypochondriac problem and I am trying to be a comfort to him. Any suggestions?

The Worst Thing About Being in your 40's

it's the first year anniversary of the passing of my friend, john kessler.

The best thing about being in your 40s in that you are not being in your 50s. It's been 10 years since I last waved goodbye to my mother. I'm 55 and staring the big 6-0 in the face. My brother is about to turn 60 and my best friend is trying to get back into the WT after 40 years' absence. I have panic attacks when I think of decreased friends and even the deaths of celebrities whom I have never met saddens me. I really am sorry for Michael Jackson. I get some peace from praying to Jesus and imagining the purgatorial way could be reincarnation. Old movies with their imperishable worlds give me comfort as does the 'live in the moment' philosophy. A good movie on this is: "What Dreams May Come" with Robin Williams.

Another work on St John's Apocalypse is Scott Hahn's "The Lord's Supper: The Mass as Heaven on Earth and beg sthe question that Jesus's promises to return TO enable those listening to him to be there to see his return. Was the Lord referring to the Real Presence in the Tabanacle?

by yadda yadda 2 indo any of these other religions have an end time eschatalogy that is anything remotely similar to the jw's in terms of chronology, interpretations of spans of time, generations, etc?.
all i know is that the 7th day adventists still hold to their chrono-prohetic interpretations that arrived at 1843. beyond that, do they or any other jw-type religion have anything else?

Ellen G White, prophetess of the SDA Church wrote a book called "The Great Prophecy ( between Christ and Satan)". I found it a gross simplication of the History of Christianity with a prejudice against the Catholic Church. It all descends from Millerite Millennialism. I did a comprehensive course with them and enjoyed the gaudy illustrations of Daniel's symbolic statue etc. They believe the "mark of the beast" is Sunday worship and they proselytize very aggressively, not disclosing that they are Seventh Day Adventists and offering a free course on Revelations. They are accepted as Christians by Orthodox Christians because they believe in the Trinity and have a valid baptism. They do not believe in Hell and the soul as I do and have other similar distinctives to those of the WT such as a dodgy Christology. I love them and wish them well.
