  Who is the mediator of the New Covenant? Christ Jesus? Or "The Christ"?

  Paul is pretty clear when he says it is "the man Christ Jesus":

  For there is one God and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus (1 Tim 2:5)

  However... since the WT$ claims to also be "The Christ" along with Jesus, they include themselves in this "one mediator":

  [The New Covenant] will be exactly like the old Law Covenant, except that it will have a better Mediator--The Christ, Head and Body. --WT Oct 1/1915 p.294 (R5776)

  "The Christ": "Head" = Jesus; "Body" = "anointed" jws

  He did so at Matthew 24:4-5 as well:

  Jesus answered: "Watch out that no one deceives you. For many will come in my name, claiming, 'I am the Christ,' and will deceive many.

  The Society makes this exact claim. According to WT$ doctrine, "the Christ" is actually a class made up of themselves (the "anointed") and Jesus:

  The word Christ signifies anointed. Anointing means designation to official position in God’s arrangement. The Christ is the instrument or channel for the blessing of mankind. The Christ is composed of Jesus, the great and mighty head, and 144,000 members. --The Harp of God, 1921, p 187

  Those faithful ones brought into the temple are incorporated into God’s organization and made a part of the ‘elect servant’, because such are in Christ and form a part of The Christ. --WT 9/1/1931 p.260

  The last members of The Christ on earth are therefore designated by Jehovah as his witnesses to the people, and the obligation laid upon them is made plain. --WT 4/1/1936 p.108

  Watchtower's Jesus = Michael doctrine

  i've never really understood the watchtower's teaching on jesus being michael.

  here is what i understand they teach:.

  1. jehovah's first creation was the archangel michael.. 2. jesus was nothing more than a perfect man, not michael the archangel in human form.. 3. rather, when jesus was conceived in mary, michael went out of existence and his impersonal life force was put into jesus (analogous to sharing the same pacemaker).. 4. when jesus died, his impersonal life force went back into a recreated archangel michael.. .

  Welcome. Excellent points. I've often pointed out that Heb 1:5 and 1:13 alone prove conclusively that Jesus cannot be an angel:

  For to which of the angels did God ever say, “You are my Son, today I have begotten you”? Or again, “I will be to him a father, and he shall be to me a son”?

  And to which of the angels has he ever said, “Sit at my right hand until I make your enemies a footstool for your feet”?

  If God never said these things to any angel, yet he did say them to Jesus, then logically Jesus cannot be an angel.

  Most JWs (certainly, those participating in a forum such as this) will simply cover their ears (eyes) in the face of this evidence because, sadly, they don't care about truth. JWs have been conditioned to believe that the only thing that matters is absolute blind obedience to the leaders of the JW religion.

  To a JW, the bible is not truth; the Watchtower Society is truth.

  Interesting. "Life, with its distinctive personality traits" strikes me as quite different from an "impersonal life force". It would be hard to argue that an *impersonal* life force included anything related to personality...

  if you have more than a passing interest in either of these two sports, you might be interested in ufc 118 tomorrow night.

  mma legend randy couture fights heavyweight boxing champion james toney in the co-main event.. my money is on couture.

  personally i think james toney is delusional for stepping into the octagon as a boxer, particularly against a guy with a strong wrestling background like couture.

  misery, did you catch the previous UFC? 117? I thought Anderson Silva vs Chael Sonnen was a great main event. And Lesnar vs. Carwin (UFC 116) was good, no?
