To the OP:
good post.
I don't think you'll get any bites, though. The Society itself doesn't even try to prove the notion of a "1900-year-old faithful and discreet slave". They just claim it's so, and of course that's more than enough convincing for the brainwashed rank and file...
The lineup of people heading towards the beams of light really reminds me of WT art...
definitely reminds me of WT propagada art... nice!
Wing Commander:
Seriously, they wouldn't let me watch the Smurfs, Star Wars, E.T., or MJ's Thriller, but I was subjected to this apocolyptic imagery from the cradle to age 19 or so. I think was the worst in the 80's, though I can't speak for today's crap, it's probably just more subtle.
Man, soooo true.
guess where my first panic attack occurred?
at the kindom hall of course.
i was 14yrs old and thought i was being "possessed by a demon".. panic attacks became more common, and at the age of 18 i was diagnosed with "panic disorder with depression".
Anyone else ever wonder how many "demon attacks" reported by jws are nothing more than panic attacks? (Not to minimize panic attacks or anything...)
something i've been thinking of.... god created humans in his image, yet it's possible for human's to sin, so therefore it's possible for god to sin right?.
the jw's will throw the, "but jehovah can never lie", but if it's possible for him to sin then it's possible for him to lie about not lying?
.
The thing is, if God does it, it's not a sin.
Example, humans commit murder, it's a sin. God commits murder, it's not a sin.
So no, he can't.
imagine this scenario:.
step 1) the governing body produces a brochure entitled: "addressing misconceptions about jehovah's witnesses".
it brings all the apostate arguments out of the woodwork and addresses them (whether or not the answers make sense doesn't really matter).
Imo, the fact that the Society doesn't promote online witnessing (in fact, is opposed to it and essentially forbids it) speaks to their reasons for knocking on doors in the first place. If the purpose of the door-to-door work was to make new recruits - if that was their true goal - they should be all over online witnessing. But in actuality the door-to-door work has nothing to do with making new recruits. It's all about isolating the dubbies from society at large and making them feel "special" and "chosen".
he had relationship with a female jw of the same congo.now that they are both df'ed they are gonna get married and then get reinstated.his ex-wife will have to see the new happy family 2 times every week at the meetings.sweet.
.
p.s:this is a classic one.
I saw this scenario twice in my old hall.
just how does the governing body of jehovah's witnesses receive their "insight" or "understanding" of the bible, in order to publish this "spiritual food at the proper time" in their watchtower and awake magazines and all their books?.
let's find out -- from their own publications -- exactly how this happens:.
"spirits of the dead" brochure (1991), page 18:.
George:
Visiting speaker to our congregation earlier this year actually said from the platform: "The GB are in direct contact with Jehovah" Nobody batted an eyelid!
Sounds like the visiting speaker was quoting Rutherford:
When Jesus was on earth he had no advocate, because God dealt directly with him... It would seem that there would be no necessity for the "servant" [ie, WTS] to have an advocate such as the holy spirit, because the "servant" is in direct communication with Jehovah... -WT, 9/1/1930, p.263
The Society also claimed that the dead "Pastor" Russell was directing the "harvest work". Maybe New Light™ still comes from him?
Hence our dear Pastor, now in glory, is without doubt, manifesting a keen interest in the Harvest work, and is permitted by the Lord to exercise some strong influence thereupon. –WT, 11/1/1917, p325.
This verse (Revelation 8:3) shows that, though Pastor Russell has passed beyond the veil, he is still managing every feature of the harvest work. –The Finished Mystery, 1918, p144
For a while, Rutherford was convinced that the "remnant" received messages from angels:
Again Zechariah talked with the angel of the Lord, which shows that the remnant are instructed by the angels of the Lord. The remnant do not hear audible sounds, because such is not necessary. –Preparation, 1933, p. 64
...angels are delegated by the Lord to convey his instructions to the members of his organization on earth. Just how this is done is not necessary for us to understand. –WT, 12/1/1933, p. 364
These angels are invisible to human eyes and are there to carry out the orders of the Lord. No doubt they first hear the instruction which the Lord issues to his remnant and then these invisible messengers pass such instructions on the remnant.–Vindication III, 1932, p. 250
I think he was just trying to explain the voices in his head....
