I haven't though about making a documentary, but if somebody did I would be interested/willing to get involved however possible. I've thought before about what I can do that would really make a different and have an impact, it just usually seems like me against millions of people, y'know?

Why Do Americans Live Shorter Lives Yet Spend So Much for Health Care ???
by RubaDub inevery time i see statistics comparing average lifespans amoung countries, why is the usa so far down the list???.
with susposedly the best healthcare in the world (for those who can afford it), the last study i saw ranked the usa at number 38 in the world.
yet, we spend 4, 5 or even 10 times more per person on health care than most others.. what gives ???.

"Let's face it...a good many 'Mercans don't exactly eat right or exercise. They smoke too much, drink too much, they eat shit 3 times a day, they eat junk in-between and don't ever bother to get regular check-ups."
Other countries smoke and drink as much as we do and eat nearly as bad. Yes, we eat shit here...but that's not the root of the problem. I don't "bother" to get regular check-ups because I can't even afford to go to the doctor when I'm SICK.
This is a great chart I found a while back that really puts it in simple terms. Look at where the United States is, and then look at how many times people visit the doctor here per year. It's ridiculous. Then look at our life expectancy.
frankie- the point is we ARE going to die and then it will all be over. Why wouldn't you want to extend that as long as possible? I don't know about you, but I like being alive and prefer it to the alternative for sure, and I prefer to stay alive as long as I can.

Still a no-no, and I don't think you can (or at least you're not supposed to) get on stage with one.

I haven't done much so far, but I would definitely say joining this board. In the future, I plan to go to counseling and read all of the books that I haven't (CoC, CCMC, etc)...

JWs having Facebook Sex - Strongly warned to get off FB at CA yesterday
by shopaholic inso it appears that jws are letting their freaky side come out on fb for everyone to see.. there was talk on the ca yesterday strongly warning all true lovers of jehovah to delete their fb accounts.
the talk was solely about fb.
the speaker mentioned that jws are associating with people that would not associate with in real life, often using the excuse that the person is a relative.

Speaking of cell phones...I remember a DC part one time where a "brother" had just gotten a new phone, and basically the moral of the story was that it took way too long for him to read the manual to learn how to use the phone, so he took it back and started using his old one, and then felt better about not spending the money anyway... I don't know who they thought was going to buy that one, how long does it really take to learn how to use a phone? I have an iPhone and it still only took me all of about five minutes to figure out how to do all of the basic stuff.

"And Jehovah has blessed us with diesel fuel"
by Sour Grapes inwhen i read these eye witness accounts from haiti.
like jehovah is blessing his people with diesel fuel.
and food my brain begins to bleed.

The "unanswered prayers" are always ignored...
Do they really think that the same God who gave them *diesel fuel* would let thousands of people die and not care at all?

This is classic.
I, for one, am thrilled to see all of the dubs on FB. It shows that society is losing some control. People are obviously questioning some of their counsel, and if you look at their groups and pages, it's obvious that they're questioning a lot of things- I see a lot of politic pages, groups for books/movies that you know aren't acceptable (Twilight is a big one), etc...Besides the Watchtower group, there's usually no sign on their profiles that they are a JW (not that this is a huge surprise, how many of us actually owned up to the fact that we were unless we had to?). Some people I know don't have the group added, either- there's no sign that they're a JW at all.
Farkel is right- this is going to build up a lot of curiosity. The ones that weren't on FB are going to join just to check it out, and they're going to do a search and realize all of their friends are already there. I'm sure that some are going to start wondering why they're not allowed to chat and share photos with their friends...hopefully they'll start wondering why they're not allowed to do other things, too.
Then we'll welcome them here
I've read before that 2/3 of born-ins leave...I think FB will put a big dent in how many stay.
