Largest amount of refugees since WW2 in Europe
by Powermetal4ever inso i had a discussion with my mother about this, and she claims that because of this that: "we are surely living in the last days right now" while i must admit myself that the situation seem chaotic, i don't want to believe that it is the last days.
so question is, how do i face an opinion like that?

Village idiot The Bubonic/Pneumonic plague pandemics of the 14th century killed 1/4 of the population throughout Eurasia in the first sweep. There were four other pandemics in a 100 year period. I mention this example not merely because of its large numbers but because of the large percentage of the population affected.
Yes if you want utter human misery the 14 th century takes the biscuit, mass graves, agonizing death & all easily cured with a dose of antibiotics!!!
Which century would you like to live in ?would be my reply to your mum!

Give Jehovah Only 6 Months!
by naazira inmain question: what do you think would happen if jehovah's witnesses stayed away from the watchtower organization for 6 months?
instead of "us" staying in their world for 6 months.
personally, i think they would be like the amish youth on rumspringa- many to never return.. i came across a thread here, where the poster said that their parents told them to give jehovah's org 6 months.

Exodus 21.12 Whoever strikes a person mortally shall be put to death. If it was not premeditated, but came about by an act of God? then I will appoint for you a place to which the killer may flee. But if someone wilfully attacks and kills another by treachery, you shall take the killer from my altar for execution.
Why would God, who is/has dictated these laws to moses, call an accident "an act of God". Is that to say that all unfortunate events, accidents & tragedies are CAUSED by an ACT definition:noun
- 1.a thing done; a deed."a criminal act"
deed, action, gesture, feat, exploit, move, performance, undertaking, manoeuvre, stunt, operation, venture, effort, enterprise, achievement, accomplishment "a life filled with acts of kindness"Therefore God has taken positive steps when you wrestle with your friend over the TV remote for him to fall down the stairs & break his neckWhat a horrible thought, I thought he didn't interfere in human affairs????This was OBVIOUSLY writen by a 3 rd partyImagining what laws god would give. The JW get over these horrible Exodus slave lawsby saying the people were too hard hearted then. But I am not having that. So a few hundred years later they were readyfor the love in Christianity? I thought people stayed the same& didnt evolve? Its one thing for Direct Line insurance tocall things "acts of God", its quite another for GOD TO CALLTHINGS ACTS OF GOD!

Necessary family business Justhuman 14??? Is not illness considered such? I understand your Dad is a co, but what about mum or siblings?
Whatever you do please read Steve Hassans "combatting mind control".
Make a decision after reading that so you have the tools to deal with whatever you have to face. It may help to seek a therapist too....that way if you do go back (and then cite illness as a reason to fade) you will have somewhere to sound off!

Ray Franz was an Idiot
by vinman inray franz who gave us insight into the gb due to a crisis of conscience was an absolute moron, with absolutely no critical thinking skills whatsoever like all of us have.
i mean, to have a conscience based on some magic man in the sky.. how stupid can you be?
in search of christian freedom?

Steve2 For the record, I am an athiest who cannot quite divest himself of the allure of a stronger being who promises all will be fine. But I recognise the contradiction and accept that my need for consolation is not a sound basis for belief.
OhSteve2 " you took the words right out of my mouth"as MEATLOAF sang once! I am an athiest for Jesus!Only this morning zo was crying that I miss Jesus!!To my kids too!!

Ray was a man of deep integrity and I for one have enormous respect for him.
As Harry Potter said "It's hard standing up to your enemies,
Its even harder standing up to your friends"

My Book, 'Gifts in Men', by Patricia F.Sadio
by GiftsinMen inanother member on here announced the publication of my new book "gifts in men, a heavier responsibility" a couple of months ago and some of you asked who i was as to my authenticity and motives.
i have had an amazing reaction to my book even from jws who know me and my story but were still shocked at the details.
i was not raised a jw, not disfellowshipped nor disassociated and loved being a regular pioneer, serving in uk and ireland.

don't mean to disparage what I haven't read - your book - but I have read the Greek scriptures, and my understanding convinces me that you are (unwittingly) perpetuating one of the Org's corrupt interpretations, namely, that where Ephesians 4:8 in the RNWT says "When he ascended on high he carried away captives; he gave gifts in men", the original Greek does not say "in men."
In fact, every Bible translation herehttp://www.blueletterbible.org/Bible.cfm?=Eph&c=4&t=KJV#s=t_bibles_1101008renders it as "gifts to men."
1 Corinthians 12:1-11, 28,30,31 describes those gifts (it doesn't describe men!) and 1 Corinthians 13:8 states that all those gifts would cease!
The Org has indoctrinated this false teaching into the minds & vocabulary of J.W.'s throughout the world, in order to elevate the standing of the little Napoleon's within K.H.'s.
Searcher....wow thanks for this I had no idea, wow these guys by their own biblical standard (of not altering the scriptures) are in the s@*# big time!

The Watchtower are Right About Blood...
by cofty in... but, they fail to take note of one important detail.. i believe that if we are going to have any chance of reasoning with a jw about blood, this is the place we need to begin.. don't try to convince them that it was only a dietary law.
it wasn't, and they will never go along with it.. don't tell them that saving a life is more important than obeying a law, even a seemingly trivial one.
they take pride in obedience.

Fantastic reasoning cofty.Great post.
Imo the ancient Isrealites were just like any other tribal/hunter gatherer society. Even today the superstition around taking the life of an animal for food requires the hunter to thank the animal/god etc for giving its life to continue theirs. Isrealite sacrifice laws are just an extention of that.
