fireworks and bonfires are still ubiquitous this time of year but it's just merged in with halloween which, whilst always being celebrated, was not as promoted and so overwhelming as it is now.. bring back the guy!.
I agree, the food on bonfire night is the best!
I think it's just not very pc to cellibrate burning catholics, although I only recently found out his real target was not parliament but the King, James, a prize rotter.
You Americans would be a bit odd celebrating the execution of someone campaigning for religous freedom. Was it not this mean King James that precipitated the poor pilgrim fathers from leaving our shores?

just got a phone call from an older sister saying that a couple that got re-assigned from bethel 4 years ago to live at their kh apartment as special pioneers, just received a letter saying "as of january 2016, your special pioneer assignment will be discontinued".. they live in a south miami kh(snapper creek congregation).. this couple had only served in bethel for 15 years before they were sent out into the special pioneer work.
they are now in their mid 50's and the sister said that they have to find part time jobs to support themselves.. the older sister (does not have a pc or internet), says that the couple are just devastated!

I wonder how it would affect their worldview if some "worldly," "apostate," or member of a church of "Christendom" offered them jobs or otherwise showed them kindness.

Lett is aging terribly the last few years. Every time I see him he looks older. The stress of the WT fall from grace is killing him.
Here's some advice Lett.
Tell the truth. Let it go. God isn't backing you. Cut your losses. Follow the example of Ray Franz and do the right thing. You might get some sleep at night.

An apostate is someone who has left out one or more of the basic tenets of Christianity such as the divinity of jesus, the trinity etc.
well its that time again when the ghouls come out to play.
i personally think halloween is a bit irresponsible and inappropriate from a sociological perspective.. there's something about the intent of frightening young impressionable children minds with frightening objests.
and feeding them candy which most likely cause tooth decay and stomachs is irresponsible activity conducted by adults.
This just reminds me of my social life that I lost in WT.

Kate I know. I think we live near each other too, but I have a lot of health problems and look a wreck so im too embarrased to meet people! I felt rotton not going to your birthday bash. I think we have a lot in comman too as I lost my eldest son in a watchtower induced tug of love as they are called 😢

Also at my age its the only time I look good - all the white make up hides my age , eyeliner and blood red lipstick is flattering on any gal or guy!
