Huge sense of relief, I can do so many things now GUILT FREE YAY!
However, I still struggle massively with death. Not so much the long & happy life well lived, surrounded by friends & family pain free kind of death. But the unjust death
Of the murder victim
Of the child with cancer
Of the young slave who died under the lash
Those who disappeared in the gulags or camps
Of the pig or monkey whose only life has been lived in a cage filled with cruelty
The still born baby
The generations of our ancestors whose lives were nasty, brutish & short
Cheerful sort, aren't I?

Something interesting!
by John Aquila ini was invited to a small get-together by a long time friend.
we both served as elders for years.
he is in his late 70s.

Earlier this year they sent a representative to Brooklyn to resolve certain doctrinal issues with the governing body.
I don't see anything particularly unusual in this. I don't see why a group of long term JW/elders/anointed should not visit bethel and whilst they were there "resolve",in other words clear up, issues they were not absolutely clear on.
I certainly don't think disliking the shiny new tech savy org makes the older ones "apostates"either, in fact it's par for the course & what the org would be expecting in many ways.
Nothing unusual here imho.

Bethel layoff question
by CookieMonster inhi,.
with the layoffs of bethelites and special pioneers, does anyone know if they get some sort of "redundancy" payout?

There is a reason you have to sign a vow of poverty.
Aha, that explains it thank you Morpheus. Never could get my head around that as it smaked so much of Christendom, now I know why!

where i grew up we had this furious little bird that liked shiny objects like the earrings that little girls wore.
he would fly into our school bus and drive the bus driver nuts and he was hated by the school teachers and all of our parents.

What I Hate About Halloween....
by konceptual99 in....is that it has totally wiped away the distinct celebration of november 5th and bonfire night.
fireworks and bonfires are still ubiquitous this time of year but it's just merged in with halloween which, whilst always being celebrated, was not as promoted and so overwhelming as it is now.. bring back the guy!.

Halloween has been pushed as a "safe"and commercial alternative. I'm in my 40's and it was barely celebrated in these 'ere parts when I was a child really. -

I agree, the food on bonfire night is the best!
I think it's just not very pc to cellibrate burning catholics, although I only recently found out his real target was not parliament but the King, James, a prize rotter.
You Americans would be a bit odd celebrating the execution of someone campaigning for religous freedom. Was it not this mean King James that precipitated the poor pilgrim fathers from leaving our shores?

About 'Regular' Pioneers
by Gayle innow that district overseers have been deleted, now that bethelites are being devalued and increasingly dismissed, now that special pioneers are being deleted in u.s., and maybe elsewhere gradually.
who would have ever thought?.
yet, now what is the value to be a regular pioneer to the org?

Special Pioneer Couple Living at a Kingdom Hall In Miami FL, get the dreaded Letter
by James Jack injust got a phone call from an older sister saying that a couple that got re-assigned from bethel 4 years ago to live at their kh apartment as special pioneers, just received a letter saying "as of january 2016, your special pioneer assignment will be discontinued".. they live in a south miami kh(snapper creek congregation).. this couple had only served in bethel for 15 years before they were sent out into the special pioneer work.
they are now in their mid 50's and the sister said that they have to find part time jobs to support themselves.. the older sister (does not have a pc or internet), says that the couple are just devastated!

I wonder how it would affect their worldview if some "worldly," "apostate," or member of a church of "Christendom" offered them jobs or otherwise showed them kindness.
eI know in the UK the Salvation Army trawl the cold dark streets looking for the homeless, they house them, feed them and help them back on their feet to find jobs- I wonder if the SP's will conclude that Jehovah is with the WRONG organization? -
