All Hail Our Robot Overlords
by Coded Logic inabsolutely amazing how fast this technology is advancing.
at the darpa challenge last year the robots could hardly walk up right and it took them ten minutes to walk through an open door frame.
now they're running around outside and opening doors like a pack of velociraptors!

we have three small bones that transmit sound to the inner ear.
technically called "auditory ossicles", they are the malleus (hammer), incus (anvil), and stapes (stirrup).. reptiles have just one bone in their ears, the stapes.

My best, best childhood friend is a witness( out of devotion to her parents, a misplaced loyalty basically) and an audiologist. In fact she runs the whole dept , the largest in the county,and he a Msc qualification ( the smartest kid in a school that sent many kids to OxBridge, she dutifully attended community college where this course was the most ' academic'). Of course she's shot to the top in her field.
I always thought the human inner ear was one of those areas creationists harp on about and I vaguely had heard of the jaw bone theory but this is beaut.
My girl is one of the witness 3% with a masters or above, but I fear she decided as a young girl when her mum converted in the 70's ( as did her similarly intelligent dad) to stick with those she loves no matter what.
Her pioneer mum has now passed away, perhaps now is my chance.

What's the purpose of being a JW now?
by MrTheocratic inwith all the recent changes to this religion, what really is the purpose of being a jw?
especially for those who have been in and witnessed all the changes and still no sight of the end.
for these ones in particular (35-55 year olds) they must be in a state of confusion.

the boredom. It was tedious being a JW. It was a limited existence based on made up beliefs. There's a heavy price to pay to stay close to conditional friendships and family that embrace's rational ignorance. Getting out in our young twenties was the game changer for our lives

The Curious Case Of Brother B

this is something i've wanted to talk about for years but it's strongly shot down if you even try to talk about it in my old congregation.. it involves a certain brother b.. in my old congregation this brother was well liked.

As an aside isn't it interesting how everyone can be on such good terms with your nonJW grandma, married many years to your JW grandad, who has " rejected the truth" . I mean if she isn't a candidate for destruction at Armageddon I don't know who is!! Yet if your grandad whos slaved for the truth for years, a true believer, smoked a fag or something hes shunned completely and dead to all. How bizare a contrast. NB I don't believe any of it of course, but I mean from dubs point ofveiw, or should be.

i have been brought up a witness all my life and it is all i know.
i am an ex-elder and pioneer and i don't know anybody outside of the congregation.. i have been unhappy for so long and wanted to leave.

Wingcommander Honestly, that whole whiny, begging for money on the first page is what instantly put me off about you. We've got Stephen Lett and the GB putting up videos on JW Broadcasting begging for more of our relatives and friends money, fleecing them of their hard-earned (because of being denied an education from these same bastards!), savings, any retirement or inheritance, etc.......and now YOU want some too????
Doh!! He's one of the guys being fleeced , unless of course he's a GB member...

Skiddadle And if you are legit and recieve outside help, when you're back on your feet, pay it forward and help others. (You know, the worldly ones:) there's gonna be a mass exit of jw's from .u.k. if this Goddard inquiry is anything like the australian one and these people will need help too. (It's already started and i fear that the councilling services in uk need to start getting up to date on the psychological aspects of this niche group before it's too late. I don't want to see more lives being lost!)

Anyway, what I wanted to say was we Brits ARE mollycoddled... Let alone a live at home JW dynasty Prince who became a young elder due to family. Surely you can visualize that? We never have to worry about money, health education hell even somewhere to live..its all free! Its true we don't have the stresses you guys have BUT neither do we have the drive to better ourselves NOR the rewards when we do. I apologize for calling you subhuman I appreciate you have helped exJWs for a long time. I think this guy has all the symptoms of being a typical JW British boy ( JW men ain't macho in the UK..the whole headship thing is a bit more hush hush over here)
