  by no means is this a heartwarming "experience" illustrating how an ex-jw skillfully "reached the heart" of a current jw, moving them to re-examine their belief system.

  that won't be my take on my half hour visit with an elder's wife last sunday.

  no one scored points here as is almost always the case in these interactions.. we live at the extreme southern tip of texas, on the u.s.-mexico border in a city of about 200,000. twenty years ago there were 20 spanish language congregations, 2 english.

  , why," I asked, "did God not warn hundreds of his children that a tsunami was coming? He saw it coming, didn't he? Is there a reason he simply chose to watch them all die?"

  He stood there thinking with no immediate response.

  Then I addressed him by his first name which I now forget. "If you, as a father, had simply watched your son die, doing nothing to protect him or warn him, how would that be viewed by the authorities? Would you not be guilty of child abuse?"

  The Witness man simply said "I have no answer for that. Thank you, sir, for your time."

  How refreshingly honest of him. Im not surprised you think of him....it would be nice to know that he was OK and that he and his son managed to exit the cult😊

  Maybe that step will take years, maybe not. But I can assure you that getting a dose of TTATT is like getting exposed to radiation: Even if you don't feel it yet, it is reaching down to your bones and you won't ever be able to get rid of it.

  I also think that line about Jehovah'appalling sense of justice will have hit home to some extent, if true so obviously a freak tragedy the Israelites, like much else, attributed to an imaginary god.

  Its good for dubs to meet intelligent, ordinary, polite exdubs with well thought out reasons for leaving of their own volition. I often think the " herd mentality" is one reason they don't see the issues with the cult.." If all these sane people think its true, we can't ALL be wrong - these non JW's just dont KNOW enough about it" type thinking. The more they hear that many people DO know their religion AND think its wrong the better.

  Terrorist attack in Belgium

  check the news.

  there was a terrorist attack in brussells, couple of bombs detonated in the brussell airport and the metro.. 36 dead so far.. i send my sincerest condolences to the people of belgium.. the motive seems to be revenge for the capture of the last surviving member of the paris terrorist attacks..

  Oh heck...my kids are due to go on a school trip to brussells. They go to a posh school full of well connected people...a couple of days ago some parents withdrew their kids from the trip and told everyone to think seriously about not going as it is far too dangerous at the moment...we were joshing each other for being neurotic parents..we' re not joshing anymore.

  Blood Transfusion and Eating

  i get highly irritated when this subject comes up.

  this idiot gave a talk in my hall recently and said that transfusion of blood and eating blood was the same thing.

  my wife accepts this reasoning.

  As old as I am, have never or any member of my extended/immediate family has ever needed health treatment that could not be satisfied without the use of blood.

  You and yours have just been lucky..long may it stay that way

  please share you thoughts on this issue because i really would like to know when the governing body and their lawyers are going to properly address this issue because i can't worship in a place that allows dangerous men in, that's what they accused the catholic church of doing and now here it is that they are caught doing the same thing but have not expressed any concern for the victims.

  i know there are a dozen others here who were in bethel back in the early 2000's who know what i'm talking about.

  he actually kept me thinking this was jehovah's org because of his sincerity as if the holy spirit was operating in him.

  I can remember in the late 80's / early 90's a recording where he talked excitedly about the 'bible code' found in the Torah. This was a method by which specific letters from the text can be selected to reveal an otherwise obscured message. He gave as an example a code for the names of trees found in Eden.

  He then speculated that as the code was further deciphered, it could reveal a message that JW's are the true religion. Of course when a GB member - particularly one with the delivery of Sydlik - speculates, the sheep get carried along.

  Where do these ill-educated men get off spouting their half- digested, tabloid picked up ideas as fact...if I were giving a speech to audiences of thousands I would have to research this stuff for years!

  Actually that whole bible code ( there are many types) and numerology stuff was one of the things that convinced me the bible is a crock...so God can pun really well ( or give us tree names or rabbis birth dates) but can't give us a clear answer to whether he exists or get Jesus' geniology right? Sounds like a dick..

  protesters shut down a trump rally.

  massive numbers of people are out in chicago and have shut his event down.

  there were scuffles inside the event.. despite his lame attempt to pretend the violence he instigates is nothing to do with him it's clear that it is as the cnn quotes during the last event showed only too well.. this doesn't happen at anyone else's events - candidates have even given up the stage to protesters, not called for them to be beaten and punched.. trump is an ugly person and this is just a small taste of what a future under his rule would be like.. shame on the gop for not kicking his ass out.

  I was in the boozer the other night with my son's class, parents and teachers ( I know, I know...its Brixton OK we are all hippies) and Trump was no 1 topic...an American Dad said that Chicago is not typical of other places in the US...he's wasn't wrong!!!Good for the windy city!!!

  Sad to say, I don't see a big audience for this. The public really doesn't care about JWs because they are such a minority of the population, a nuisance (and mostly weird).

  You might be surprised DOC..if its a good film with good direction, storyline AND packs an emotional punch, it could do really well. After all, many small independent films with even smaller niche storylines have been global successes! Let's hope so!

  one thing i like to do to test a theory is to take things to extremes or to their logical conclusion to see if the premises still hold.

  very often, a claim that seems to make sense at a superficial level falls apart when you start to stretch it a little.. so let's play a game.. suppose the 2nd amendment is valid, that some "well regulated militia" really is necessary to hold the government to account.. obviously when this was drafted the government had access to the weapons of it's day which would be muskets!

  so muskets all round.

  hen all is going well I tend to agree no one needs weapons however you'll never sell me on the fact that when it all goes to hell in a handbasket that only government should be allowed to bear arms. When government breaks down due to invasion, bombing or whatever it is important to be able to protect yourself. If only the police have weapons and food is scarce what prevents them storming into your home taking what they want for their families and leaving you to starve?

  ????? I know its Pavlov's dog and all that and you guys are used to salivating over doomsday scenarios but the USA is not going to hell in a hand basket any time soon,

  why must these people be figurative walls when talking about the lies of the jw cult?.

  the other day, i had a conversation with my mother.

  we started talking about the election and how the candidates differ (me being a supporter of bernie).

  Noone will ban religion - it will just die a natural death in a few hundred years or more when humanity realize how absurd it is.

  BTW if Jah is going to " put it into their hearts" to ban religion doesn't he know that the UN haven't then banned it, GOD HAS BANNED IT. I'm sure the all mighty creator of the universe can work out that little fallacy all by himself!

  There has been quite a few bible prophecy's that haven't come true.

  Egypt would be a barren wasteland, Nile will dry up, Nebuchadnezzar will destroy tyre, driving the jebusites out,Israel's borders will reach the Euphrates etc etc
