Now I'm Convinced There Probably Is No God

yesterday i made a visit to the museum in my city.

the top floor is the planetarium, which has a connecting room with a huge dome ceiling where they project lessons and lectures and you have a 360 view of the night sky etc.. this particular lecture explained about our galaxy, and how it's only one of billions in the universe.

and then we learned about each planet, some of their moons and the sun.

The museum sounds great. I'm definitely going to visit it.

If there is an intelligence behind the universe iself, it's left a violent creation - from spectacular suns that implode when it's fuel runs out to the cruelty that develops as a result of the evolutionary arms race. There's no doubt, therefore, any creator has no interest in what the human animal does as a result of inbuilt instinct to survive and pass on it's genes. I do not believe in the concept of free will, either. Any so called conscience we have is a result of our need as a species to rely on the society of others of our kind for safety and survival. Cynical, maybe, but it gives me more compassion and understanding when others do that which the herd disapproves of, I find it easier not to judge.

a few million people left, pretty isolated from each other.. telephone lines and power goes down since the people who supported the infrastructure are dead.

Short stay

after much research and prayer i am returning to being a jehovah's witness i can find nothing that eliminates them from being god's directed people , in the end they will reach the end of there journey despite mistakes and errors just like the israelites entered the promised land , thanks for your input and all the best on your personal journey ☺.

I notice you mention your wife wishes to be " zealous and have friends around"as if the two are synonymous , I believe this may be the crux of the matter. In the JW world they are. Do you think the first century apostles preached to have a social life? Cults withdraw their love and friendship the further you stray - the bible teaches to *give love* the further the sheep stray.

The Watchtower bible has changed the translations In many important ways.( my personal bugbear is " gifts in men" ( elders) when it's gifts unto men. Just Google it or do a search on here for their many changes to fit their doctrine , including of course the insertion of the made up name Jehovah in the New testament.

Please don't let the natural need for companionship lead you to a lifetime of pointless servitude I wish you all the best.

Blondie the perfect scripture. you are saying their sticking to the minutiae of ~~their~~ the law is unChristian when a child is at risk. In this case God's law and secular law have the same intended outcome.

I wonder would reading that scripture induce any shame in these corporate yes men??

I notice they allow for a non parental women to be present - although they don't say so in so many words,don't want the word to get out that its inappropriate for an abused child to give evidence to two strange, unqualified men. No mention also that the poor child is likely to have to give a statement again to authorities! Why make the child endure it twice - leave it to the professionals the first time!!!

I also love the way they say that if an abuser "associates with the jehovahs witnesses"!! Hang on they are a jehovahs witness or this legalese wouldn't apply!...oftentimes an MS or elder! Of course they love to use their get-out clause that the culprit "/is not a real witness". Wel why are Catholic abusers " not real Catholics" then!

Why are these (very poor)improvements not being enacted in all witness " lands". Two words - taxable income. They are under pressure from the Charity commission to get their child safeguarding policy in line, or potentially loose their charitable status in the UK.

now that im not longer a jw this verse puzzles me.

being born and raised a witness, this verse confirmed to me that jesus was talking about a paradise on earth.

but now that everything the witnesses taught is 99.99% incorrect can somone explain what he was getting at here?

I believe most denominations believe in the thousand year earthly kingdom - so presumably think it relates to that? I may be wrong.

Isn't it arrogant of the "anointed" GB to believe a scripture that brings comfort to the humble ones cannot of course relate to them...it has to relate to the oh-so- meek GB [ sarcasm]

he did this despite the fact that every adult should know it didn't happen, and yet many do.. i'd like to remind everyone what the insight book says: .

the genesis account of creation tells how on the second “day” jehovah made an expanse about the earth, and this expanse (called “heaven”) formed a division between the waters below it, that is, the oceans, and the waters above it.

Thinking back to the biblical account as described by the witnesses in the Insight book, it seems God had prepared this expanse of water just so he could provide a deluge....if so that is predestination - so much for free will.

Its also interesting that the Bible describes "An earth standing compactly out of water in the midst of water..." very much sounds like they believed in one landmass. The American and Australian continents not having been discovered yet by Middle Eastern humans demonstrates again that humans authored the Bible.

Th e Elders collect money from the dead.

can't say too much but i here is something i'd like to share.. a relative of mine was an elder and pledged a lot of money to help buy a new kingdom hell in the area.

he died 10 years ago.

only 3 years ago the elders went to his old aged, pensioner widow and asked for the money.

the question is can her mother and father who are witnesses greet her in the morning only or would they be a sharer in her wicked deeds and thus also be df for saying a greeting?.

Mexico branch......Now closing!!!

a circuit overseer friend of mine serving in latin america called me today to say hi.

i asked him what's new and he dropped the news that they have received notification that the branch in mexico will be closing!!

this branch also called the central american branch (although located in mexico) oversees all of mexico's 800,000+ publishers plus all 7 countries of central america of over 100,000 publishers.

Someone mentioned careers for women.

JW's love to think they're Jews anyway, so why not follow the orthodox rabbinical Jewish way? CO's ~~Rabbi's~~cover a fixed area permenantly and the *missis* supports the CO. With a glut of eligible women in the Org....all ambitious young prospective COs will have to bag themselves a well-off or hard working wife to support them. I guarantee there won't be a shortage of sacrificial virgin's to the ~~Org~~ cause.

with so many fundamental changes and revisions, can they even be correctly viewed as what they are perceived as by active jws?

if your baptism was an oath of loyalty to the organization, which organization?

It's the old " Ship of Theseus" paradox.

If a old ship is repaired by replacing each worn part with a New one, until eventually none of the original parts are left, is it still the original ship? Or a completely new one? Despite having the same name?
