  i am pimo but attended the r.c yesterday for family pressure reasons.

  a "sister" i've not seen for a while told me her husband is overjoyed because a man he called on recently in the field service suddenly told him he wanted to attend the r.c.

  the unusual thing is, this man is a millionaire having built a property portfolio.

  Has the Governing Body /Jehovahs witnesses ever distanced themselves from the Williams Sisters claim of Beng a JW ?

  i bring this up because of an article in the supplement of the sunday mail in victoria australia "stellar" that pregnant serena williams is a devout (ihate that word ) jehovahs witness.

  i have sent a letter to the editor about it ,i wonder if it gets published.. has the wt ever distanced themselves from the claims that serena herself has claimed to be a witness ?

  when accepting a win in one of her succesful matches ?.

  konceptual99 It wouldn't surprise me if she was never that regular even as a young person.

  To get that good at tennis you have to devote an incredible amount of time to the sport, so you couldn't possibly be attending to all the usual Watchtower demands in full, or anywhere near. I would hasten to add neither could her parents, who would have had to have been very committed to helping them reach such a standard. Ferrying to practice, tournaments and the like.

  Todays WT, study with worldy kids if you can

  according to today's wt, jws are now encouraged to start bible studys with worldy kids even if their parents dont want to join in.

  the wt suggests that the study should take place with the parent present or with another mature jw present.. the wt suggests that studying with the kid may make the parent eventually want a study too.. ...

  in what situation would any worldly parent allow some stranger from a werid cult to come jnto their house and convert their children?

  In a situation where the parents are neglecting the child and either don't know, are not around or are happy to offload their kids on someone else.

  Watchtower knows full well we're talking about vulnerable kids here who are probably desperate for any kind of adult attention.

  I don't understand why jw's can't see that:

  They are told Most partakers are deluded.

  GB get things wrong constantly, Fred Franz got 1975 wrong

  Q. Therefore cannot the GB be deluded?

  A. But holy spirit

  Q. Peadophile elders?

  just like naming of days of the week and months are of astrological/pagan origin, the widely used word amen too is pagan, and has contributed to mind-control.. each time we say “amen” at the end of prayer we may think that we mean only "verily" and "truly".

  unfortunately, we overlook something very important.

  amen, amen-ra is the "most high" egyptian solar archetype [egyptian sun god, known as amun/amin/amen ra, meaning "the hidden god" and thus, the phrase "amen" would originally mean "let it remain hidden/secret."].

  Venus Not saying its not true but do you have, or know of, any research on the subject? It's just I've heard that amen isnt derived from Amon Ra...but whoever wrote that may be wrong, they offered no proof.

  Anyone recall someone disfellowshipped for gluttony???

  gluttony seems to be a sin that jw's like to ignore .there are several scriptures that point out that gluttony is a sin, proverbs 23:20-21 "do not join those who gorge themselves on meat".....also i read somewhere that 1% is the number of disfellowshipped jw's each year......how do prove someone is a glutton and not just a person who love food???

  Jwfacts It is the ultimate in hypocrisy, since an obese person will die earlier than a smoker, and gluttony is mentioned in the Bible as a son whereas smoking is not.

  I used to work in a liver unit, and research demonstrates that obesity is more damaging to the liver than smoking and oftentimes even alcoholism.

  Even openly ignoring the doctor's orders to just WALK a little! But, no. Not even that. How does it not hurt their conscience to be up on stage and say "hey everybody! Imitate me! As I imitate JC!"

  How does he remain an elder yet not preach? The old school jws , mostly gone or in their 80s and 90s now, stayed remarkably fit in the UK through lots of good old fashioned walking in the ministry. I hear in the states people drive more due to the vast distances. Or is it the case that's a modern phenomenon ?

  my boyfriend is an ex new jehovah witness and today i got a message from one of his friends asking if i could delete a comment he wrote on one of my pictures because my boyfriends mom is harassing him about it.

  he also basically told me that she has people who added me just to view my profile and let her know!!!!

  she also sends him messages and pictures from the watchtower.

  well that's nice of you isn't it? Don't be a git. She probably knew nothing about this whole sorry set up when she started going out with him.

  I highly recommend you go to exjwreddit for support. Its a younger crowd and we get many posts like yours.

  To be really helpful I would need more info, ie is he disfellowshiped? were you dating before that? Does he believe? Is he being shunned? Has he heard of "undue influence" or the B.I.T.E. model of cult indoctrination?

  , you credit JWs with scholarly interest and investment. They have neither. It is enough to be told something is so - and, relievedly for untold numbers of JWs, there the matter is happily left - if it were ever picked over by any of them in the first place.

  Meanwhile, among the unscholarly inclined rank and file, a cry is heard, "Anyone for tennis?...wouldn't that be nice."

  What is Ibid?

  hi all, i'm diving deep into historical jw literature research and i keep seeing ibid as a frequently cited source - what is this?

  i've tried the old google, but no luck.

  does this stand for something (i'm probably missing something incredibly obvious) or have i spent too many hours reading 1930s the golden age magazines and depleted all my electrons already?

  By the way Its something most people learn at uni, so another practical disadvantage witnesses have due to Watchtower policy of no higher education.
