We all like a bit of bondage, role play and slap and tickle from time to time Mr Watchtower. Live a little.
Yeah I used to say that to the PO all the time but somehow I don't think he agreed with me....
ok, this is from 2006. but someone on reddit mentioned it and posted a link.
my word, the micro-management and unnecessary lengths they go to to control:.

i am a big superhero fan and was looking forward to "the defenders".
the first two episodes are great but then ... liberalism happens.
one of the heroes (luke cage, big black guy) goes on this crazy rant, like a liberals wet dream of the bravehearth speech.
This site is filled with some of the same empty-headed thinking that filled Watchtower land. You blame the world for your lack of knowledge, and crown your misinterpretation of things as truth. It's just about a stupid TV show, but you've taken a tiny thing and made a vehicle for hating a group of people...all because you were too lazy, ignorant of even just stupid to know something idiotic about a comic book series from 1972.
David_Jay for the most part, I have to say I agree with you!

Steve The former COs wall metaphor is compelling - especially how an individual may notice a crack here and a crack there in the wall - but no one else worries - instead they say, "Look at how big and strong the wall is."
A fantastic metaphor that captures the loneliness of those who are disturbed by the state of the wall - but no one else is worried.
Absolutely Steve 2 it struck me too. He's obviously a poet/author in his alternate nonjw universe! I also loved him saying he could be a grandpa but has little kids because he was" late to the party" but he made it in the end, talking about having a wife and kids. Me too!
I was intrigued that it shook him that a little admin mistake could slip through (with the 17 yr old elder) and where was the holy spirit - yet what about all the witnesses who died in the KH in a Filipino typhoon??? That's so typical for all of us, we often miss the big stuff yet the things that affect us the most, no matter how small, often wake US in the end.
ThanksDark Spliver for posting, I wondered if non reddit users could see the post.
some things i just didnt notice at the time which now seem so obvious:.
the bible tells us that the end will come like a thief in the night, when we least expect it.
(matthew 24:44).
I thought Jehovah would explain it all to me in the new world but instead it was Darwin.
If I ever print my book of exJW quotes this ones going on the front cover Xanthippe!!
[please feel free to share.].
forced to choose between beliefs and family.
“no one should be forced to worship in a way that he finds objectionable or be made to choose between his beliefs and his family.” that statement appeared in an article entitled “is it wrong to change your religion?” in the july 2009 awake magazine, published and distributed widely by jehovah’s witnesses.. nearly everyone reading that statement would consider it to be mere common sense.
Yet, Jehovah’s Witnesses who voluntarily leave the religion for conscientious reasons are often divorced by their mates who remain in the religion. When I resigned as a Witness in 2015, My wife of 43 years divorced me.
Totally blown away. I'm so very sorry.
But it is a different matter to use the protections afforded a religion by the First Amendment to falsify history, to propagate forgeries, and to cover up human-rights abuses.”
Absolutely agree
However, just five years later, in 1952, the Watchtower Society embraced a more severe form of excommunication called disfellowshiping.
Just to make things clearer, the practice of shunning for dissassociation didn't come into practice until 1981, as a result of the GBs desire to besmirch the good name of Ray Franz.
Excellent, hard hitting piece!
Ha ha Looove you sidestepped!!
Fabulous t-shirt!
that's what i've been told by a family member (elder) who went to one of the regional conventions in the north of the u.k lately, who told me the 300 or more disfellowshipped who returned to jehovah by attending show that the end is so close, just like the final talk says..
DarkSpliver Totally agree, given the Manchester attacks I think they wouldn't have been allowed to hire the building and let just anyone walk in. Those days are gone in city centres in the UK.
If you include everyone not an active publisher - DF, family pressured ones and the socializers 300 is a reasonable number.
after todays watchtower, i realised that there was a detail which i'd never noticed before.
sometimes job's children are mentioned, but how many have noticed that job's servants were also killed.
they didn't even have a quantity assigned to them - just treated like property.
When Bible writers adopt stories from other cultures, they would naturally do some modification to avoid being blamed for blind copying, thus they would add things such as "Job's servants were also killed."
Apparently that's how the song of songs got into the Bible. It was added around the time of the Babylonian captivity - it was the Shakespeare of Its day, the greatest piece of literature of the Persians so it was sort of rude not to.
Speaking of rude, the Shulamite maidens "belly button" was one bit that was changed....it was some kind of button and very private, apparently!!!!
