  What really should be the role of Women in the congregations?

  the presumably "biblical" practice of limiting the way women participate in congregational matters of the wtborg cult inc. (as well as certain other sects of christendom) may be a gross mis-interpretation of what paul meant.

  i'm inclined to agree completely with this account of what paul really meant.. thoughts anyone?

  aren't women more deserving of greater participation and respect?.

  Bobcat As I pointed out above, there are no women in the book of Jonah. yet, Jesus places the 'queen of the south' as someone who is "raised up" (not "rises up") in the judgment with "this generation" and condemns it. Some may disagree with me, but I think I found the queen's counterpart in the book of Jonah. It has to be seen from the point of view of 1st century Jews towards women. (Jonah 3:6-9) See here for a 1st century view of women.
  
  Christianity "raised up" women who accepted it, who also then became a witness to the faithless Jews who rejected it. (I'll leave it to the reader to decide if WTism 'raises up' women.)

  Well since Phoebe in the Bible is described as a Diakonos which is translated as deacon or ministerial servant watchtower has no leg to stand on, really, and they know it. Paul admonishes the church to recieve her " as befits the saints".

  Their obsession with what a woman may "touch"in the KM borders on fetishism - why they cannot carry a microphone or work the sound equipment reminds of the Maori superstition of " tupu " or taboo as it's called in English.

  Perhaps they think we might be menstruating LOL! !

  In fact the scriptures were Paul is particularly scathing of women are the very ones academics don't believe he wrote such as Timothy. Besides, he is the one that describes a cousin of his, Junia, as an "apostle", and fellow worker in the Lord. The name has never been known in antiquity as anything but female....though some still insist it's male which doesn't make sense to me. The Catholic Church translates her name as Julia. Her further commends 5 or 6 other women, including Pricilla,whom he puts before her husband, as serving himself or the church and doing vital work.

  And that's just a 2000 year old book written in a time of extreme sexism. The watchtower is happy to have women do all the labour of recruiting whilst humiliating them where ever they can, IMHO.

  The Bible a wierd book.

  some events in the bible can be questionable but there are some stories the rings of truth, and why do i say that because they are so descriptive.

  judges 3:22 "ehud an israelite judge, goes to the king of the moabites to pay annual tribute.

  instead, he pulls out a dagger and stabs the sh--t out of the king while he is bathing, he literal caused the sh--t to flow and the dagger disappeared in the folds of the king's skin.

  two jw’s is more like juggling chainsaws or french kissing alligators.i had a return visit the other day and now, the jw was returning the 2nd time, but with another dub.what would my strategy be?

  that’s how the day was spent.

  Terry et, it's mysterious and almost inevitable--except nothing but death is inevitable. It is a magic only possible IF YOU ACT and say the right things and do the right things.

  Absolutely. It is never, EVER a waste of time trying to wake someone up. You never know when the penny will drop, perhaps because of something you said.

  I absolutely LOVED that part.

  I was desperately trying to imagine a Texan accent telling the story...probably failing. I wish I could hear your voice!

  Can I ask have you ever penned any of your great grandparents stories ? I would love to read some. I'm obsessed with American history.

  JW critically injured after being electrocuted in assembly hall

  a newspaper reports that in bornem, belgium, a jw volunteer was critically injured after being electrocuted:.

  bornem - a man was electrocuted while performing maintenance on a high voltage installation in the assembly hall of jw in bornem friday afternoon.

  the man was critically injured.. possibly the man, who is a volunteer with the jw, tried to clean the installation with a vacuum cleaner.

  also know exactly where the dude got fried, the installation was old when I last saw it (25 years ago) and doesn't have a lock out. Most likely someone assigned him to the area because it's not where you commonly go although "it has to be clean for Jehovah

  This what makes one so mad about things like this. Why in odins name did they allocate an 81 yr old to do totally unnecessary hoovering anyway.

  DF friend is right.

  It's utterly horrible. Not to mention most DF people are desperate not to be DF; so for WT to say it's to show them the 'error of their ways' is absurd. They know they error...they are just imperfect, like Jesus said: forgive not 7 times but 77 times.
