how do we explain the marital role with what paul said in 1 cor.

“but i want you to realize that the head of every man is christ, and the head of the woman is man, and the head of christ is god.” (niv).

read a few chapters earlier at 1 corinthians 7 to see what paul does say about the relationships between husband and wife.

Thank you Doug, that is very interesting. I knew that many academics believe the more misogynistic parts of the NT were much later additions, but I did not know how they came to that conclusion.

I often think its strange that Watchtower got rid of the stoning story at John 8 because it is thought to be a later addition. But they are perfectly happy to accept that Paul wrote the pastoral epistles, when there is an awful lot of evidence he didn't.

Also, I find it incredible they do not let women so much as hold mics. Yet even *their* translation has pheobe as a Dikkonos - Deacon, or ministerial servant as they term it.

How many faithful old JW`s are now living in Christendoms retirement homes not being cared for by the religion they gave their life for.

it must be pointed out in favour of christendoms religions that they do not discriminate against people regarding their religious beliefs.

many old age jehovah`s witnesses are residents of christendoms age care homes.. isn`t this a conunudrum ?

they, jw`s condemn christendom as part of the world empire of false religion and they cast off their old faithful members to their enemy christendom , to look after them without lifting a finger themselves.. in the meantime they are raking in millions of dollars $$$$ in selling off real estate properties in new york and elsewhere around the world.

My non JW great aunt went into a care home run by Jw's, she had dementia.

When she died her diamond rings disappeared. We also never got some expensive antique furniture she brought with her, some of which they look and placed around the building. It was valued in the thousands back in the 70s. Her brother was the executor and I guess he couldn't be bothered to fight them over the furniture, but how Christian of them.

A) because only apostates know about Fred Franz and his loony counting the 6,000 years to 1975

b) they try to avoid alluding to dates of Armageddon AT ALL now, given their history

Did Being a JW Make You a Better Person?

i heard many times when i was a witness how much "learning the truth" helped people.

many have been said to have become much better people.

addictions were given up.

Good OP!

It made good people I knew before they joined judgemental - or rarther their children judgemental and bigoted - they were raised that way, couldn't help it. But I knew that wasn't them deep down.

Some undoubtedly may have been slower to anger etc. But I think a lot of people hid their issues, instead of talking about It and getting help, addictions, porn, online gambling etc

As for me there is only *one thing* that has changed. I used to believe I would never kill under *any* circumstance, no matter who, mass murderer etc. Now I would. In order to protect my family, the innocent etc from someone attempting to take their life I would be prepared to take theirs.

Because I now know we get one chance, I view murder far more seriously...it's the ONLY thing you cannot make amends for or give back. So now, I believe in the severest penalties for murderer's and I would not hesitate to protect the innocent even if it means killing the criminal/terrorist/killer etc

I leave it to you whether you think me a better or worse person for it.

good evening, or morning, whatever the case may be.. just a couple of points about the jw monthly broadcast, and the "two witness" rule.

i'm tired, so i'm going to be brief.. 1) i had a nice conversation with trey bundy about the flaws in the wt's "logic" concerning their pet scripture in deuteronomy.

in short, their rnwt ( the most accurate translation of all time, because the fds were involved...) says that no one person can be convicted on the testimony of one witness.

today i saw in the local newspaper in skagit valley washington a local man was sentenced to prison for child pornography.

at firat i wasn't i terested in the article until i saw the defendants name.

Anders Right now your perception is likely skewed because you notice and remember all the JW cases but not the others...

This is very true.

Also what you say about high numbers in society in general, a relative who works in the probation service says the same thing, that it's endemic.

Watchtower just makes it worse by refusing to prosecute once it comes to light, enabling them to abuse more victims.

below i set out the case that the jw demographic in usa has a steadily decreasing combined income, and as a consequence, has less money to donate.

not only is the flock not growing, the flock is producing less wool for the borg to fleece.

won't go into detail, but the gender gap is similar as well.

I'm guessing this means since women are increasing as a percentage of jws over men, and women generally earning so much less than men, this too will impact donations.

ExJW responsible for calling the police at the Warwick protest, NOT Watchtower

according to the great apostate, who spent time with police officers at the protest, they informed him that it was not watchtower who called the police in but another exjw who briefly attended the protest and subsequently disapproved of the protesters methods...claiming they were being "violent".. i find this very difficult to understand.

anyone who saw the bravery of the women who stood up in the kingdom hall and told the story of their abuse and rape could not fail to feel compassion and offer their support.. i know there are posters on this forum who disagree with me.they worry that such protests play into watchtowers "persecution" complex, and naturally i understand their position.. but really, how long do we have to fear their power over their members, and through their members, us.. many jw's simply do not know the extent of the paedophile problem,.they do not know about malawi, the un, the bloodless surgery guinea pig deaths ( thank you orphan crow), the suicides....i simply don't believe that protests don't work....if there are enough of them, and they are organized, and most of all if we are united...we shall make a difference, and that difference may be your loved one.. https://youtu.be/ffhr9onbdrk.

Konceptual99 Clearly it's impossible to know for sure however I've never seen a reaction like that before and that is something that suggests that perhaps when Witnesses are almost forced to hear what some have been through from their own minds then they can be moved.

Many people say that what eventually got them thinking was not facts, but something personal that brought about an emotional response for them, it's true.

I know the ladies you are referring to, it's very difficult to watch their reaction as they are very clearly upset.
