Circuit Overseer to Answer My Questions + Concerns...or Not

hello all, i'm 'researching', a jw who is in the first steps of taking a look at their beliefs.. i've semi-recently (about a couple weeks ago) heard about the sexual abuse cases (pennsylvania attorney general’s investigation request) and then the arc in 2015. this lead to a deep investigation, which lead to many questions arising.

a jw friend of mine suggested i be careful (due to apostates) and ask the brothers.

so i typed up my questions + concerns and emailed an elder my mother has known for a long time.

Research, how does you Dad feel about the religion? Did your mum marry your step dad and then get baptised? Or was she baptised before they married? Women have zero power in this religion and must needs get it from the men in their lives. With a non believing mate she will be very low on the pecking order without a son, in other words YOU, climbing the ranks. Her motives are not entirely pure.

Is there any way you could show him JWfacts.com or some of John Cedars videos? Or JW support you tube videos? Or Susan Gaskins videos? Or exjw analyzer? Please try to get him on side, explain the way they use shunning as a control method.

I know EXJW Reddit has a big list of country by country help sites for mental health issues.

Hi Reserch. We have quite a number of elders on this site and we can at least put a couple of your questions to rest.

The elders manual (there is also one for C.O.’s and Branch level} is called “Shepherd the Flock of God” you can find a copy of it Here

What irritated me is that during the A.R.C. Proceedings, Watchtower employed an ‘expert Witness”(who was no such thing) called Monica Applewhite - yes a woman, and a Catholic - who was allowed to peruse this manual at her Leisure, that elders wives are not even permitted to ring bind for their husbands, let alone see it.

Double standards?

And yes, Watchtower does keep information on file, even after you are deceased, on everyone. The blue envelopes you refer to are definitely used, most notoriously in cases of CSA. Please refer to the “Shepherd” book for further info.

Corona beer sales vs coronavirus ?

i`m just curious as to whether the corona beer sales have plummeted since this coronavirus has spread in different parts of the world .. it wouldn`t surprise me if sales had a nose dive since this outbreak and just wondered if anybody has any information concerning this ?.

Evil Wind Chimes

i remember going door to door in the late 60's with my mother as a 5 or 6 year old.

one time she caught me looking at the wind chimes on a porch.

she told me they had pagan origins, were evil, and were somehow connected to demons.

The noise scares away demons. No mention of pretty noises attracting angels. Maybe we just like random melodies.

AND to REALLY confuse us (as if things weren’t bad enough) I later discovered that Demons were Angels all along!!!....

.....I didn’t have a hope in Gehenna, I later reasoned 😩

King David's Three Choices

editor's note: found this on reddit...thought the meat of the post would be a good post for discussion here as well.. consider the three choices god forced upon david for taking a census.

these three choices were forced on king david, not for murdering people, not for raping women, not for lying, stealing, or any crime we can think of in our modern world that is repugnant, but simply for taking a census or in other words, counting people.. for counting people, jehovah forced a decision on david that involved the lives of thousands upon thousands of innocent people.. the choices all dealt with the “way” jehovah would kill thousands of unsuspecting loyal worshipers.. 1 chronicles 21.

Clearly these are indications that they were written by Psychopaths.

No they were superstitious, ignorant Bronze Age goat herders, and when something terrible befell them...an epidemic, a famine, when they lost a big battle or were conquered....

.........or when Bathsheba’s new baby died of S.i.D.S., they just took their best guess at why....and their best guess was that they had somehow displeased their all powerful, malevolent God.

the charities comission "enquiry" into the abuse by jw's resulted in nothing more than a telling-off for the "charity".. the independent inquiry into child sexual abuse (https://www.iicsa.org.uk) has so far been a damp squib.. the muslim paedophile gangs in england were tacitly approved of by police & social services.

Some of you know I had a pretty rough childhood. I was in care for a while, and I can promise you this guy is absolutely right.

For the local authorities, Its a combination of fear of being accused of racism, as Cofty said, (since the boyfriends are often dealers and black and the peadophiles are Asian gangs) and because of people in high places Involved in child abuse.

Kids without parents to protect them, particularly over 12, are just written off.

Edit: Just to say I barely know a single homeless addict who wasn’t sexually abused and neglected as a kid.

Any of you JW super linguists learn to speak Japanese? If so, how’d it go? ;)

hi i’ve been learning to draw portraits, and one style i had a go at when drawing young children was a sort of kawaii or cute japanese style.

i wanted to make gifts of these drawings so looked into writing in japanese script to add to the aesthetic.. but oh wow!!

But oh wow!! Three types of script?!! Did anyone here learn to speak Japanese when they were a JW in order to preach? I’ve read Amber Scorah’s book and am blown away that she managed to master Chinese to the point of running a pod cast!! Its incredible the lengths dubs will go to, I mean you have to admit many of them have the real missionary spirit.

Anyway did any of you attempt to master Japanese and if so I’d love to hear your tips and experiences.

Finky I don’t think Road to nowhere is a watchtower supporter. I guess he’s just dreaming that the missus and her cong would cut ties with Watchtower and have their own little place, cut the umbilical cord as it were.

Stanley What I can’t understand is how the GB, like Sam Herd and David exSplain and Gerrit Lösche, who saw everything you did, can see the decline and snatch the publishers bought and paid for halls, and still believe god is running the ship.

How can they really still believe?? Or at least believe they have gods blessing??
