  we used to use this scripture to show that there was going to be a future resurrection.

  but recently i got to thinking about it.

  if the apostle paul was right in saying that the righteous on death would be changed in the twinkling of an eye from earthly life to heavenly glory why would there be a future resurrection needed for the righteous?

  I’m Seeing Some Trump Fatigue Out There

  i’ve heard from a few trump voters that they are getting tired of the whole trump thing.

  one person yesterday said he lies.

  another person said she hears from her clients in her business that the constant drama and push back from all sides against trump is fatiguing.. i remind people that before this worldwide pandemic, we had the best numbers in jobs.

  one thing I admire Trump for is that he didn’t have the hypocrisy of ooogling Melania, yet at the same time pretending to be too moral to marry a lady such as her. He put his money where his mouth (probably) is!!!!🤣🤣🤣😉

  Yet another ex president’s wife....who comes across as venal, desperate and quite frankly furious that the worse Clinton for the job was chosen first time around due to institutional sexism in politics

  and Bernie...... who has integrity, but is probably not well enough

  i would like to ask the ex-jws on this site to put their ‘apologists hat’ back on for a moment, so that i can go through the overlapping generation teaching in an attempt to make sense of it.

  i apologise if these points have already been addressed on this site.a quick background for the reason for my request… having never confronted a jw apologist on the topic, i recently engaged with a jw regarding the official understanding of a ‘generation’ and unfortunately he didn’t have an answer to the points i was making.

  i was left a little confused as to what the official jw response would/should be.so i was hoping that my thoughts below might be considered from an apologist’s perspective.the point in question relates to this section of the watchtower article below from 2008, as well as the jw.org video explanation of the overlapping generation:---:w08 2/15[box on page 25] can we calculate the length of “this generation”?the word “generation” usually refers to people of various ages whose lives overlap during a particular time period or event.

  SBF (They could) argue that this is not a central JW doctrine.

  Well they certainly couldn’t argue that. Without 1914 the governing body have no authority.

  Watchtowers quoted drivel really doesn’t apply because the exodus “generation” referred to is obviously the typical familial generation - in other words that generation were all the children of one man, Jacob, regardless of their ages or when they were born or died.

  Aren`t These Two Scriptures At Odds With Each Other ?

  romans 13 ,1-7 contrast with 2 cor.4 : 3-6 ,on the one hand the faithful are to be obedient to the superior authorities ,worldly government ,law enforcement ,etc, as its gods arrangement and to go against it is to go against god ?.

  then 2 cor .4 : 3-6 states that the whole world is lying in the power of the wicked one satan the devil and if you are obedient to that you are supporting satan`s system of things and going against gods arrangement ?.

  what sort of mental gymnastics do you need to acquire to accept both of these scriptures and keep your sanity ?.

  new situation in world helpful to org?

  sometimes new situations can provide cover for one’s mistakes or intentions.

  for example, suppose that i crack the windshield in my dad’s car one night.

  i go home, park the car in its usual spot in the yard, and go to bed without telling my dad because i’m scared and i’m trying to think of a way out of the situation.

  They can certainly use the current situation as the excuse for falling numbers, since it’s obvious it’s only a matter of time before theres no choice but to admit to negative growth.

  ”How can we make converts when we cannot preach?”. However the org manipulates members into fierce competition with each other and in that way gets more service hours/more money/more devotion. Not sure how they will accomplish that when there is no real way to differentiate the elite (pioneers, elders, missionaries) from the dross.
