What's App š³š³š³š³!!!
in a scene reminiscent of the fall of saigon, the usa embassy staff have been evacuated by helicopter.. for a third time in asia ( a fourth, if you count usa supported chiang kai shek's defeat in mainland china) usa supported forces have been defeated.
more than 1 trillion dollars wasted and a huge deathtoll (both sides) afghanistan is back to where it started,.
will the taliban behave differently this time ?

withdrawal is not defeat, but nice try. We could have held the land of goat herders indefinitely, but apparently Ole lunch bucket Joe had other ideas.
You can crow all you want about ādefeatsā but the Japanese showed how soft your people are and America pushed those same Japs back onto their island for good.
Just a guy Nobody is crowing. Far from it. Our forces and young men and women have died as well.
No one has ever "held" Afganistan and no one ever will.
It's all about the geography.
(NB you pushed the Japs back by nuking them. Now that is nothing to "crow" about).
my daughter is being raised in a pimi household and spends a significant time with me in a pomo household.
i donāt pressure her to believe, so she is thinking/pressured about becoming a jw from the other end, so she is reluctant about celebrating holidays and birthdays, but as any kid, she loves the gifts and attention, so she will ānot celebrate but still do thingsā.. she is becoming a teenager however, and showing interest in not-so-jw-things.
her mother forbids star wars for violence and magic, but she wants to watch it, she wants a few horror video games, she wants to shoot things and go hunting but guns arenāt allowed, so iāve compromised for archery.. what do parents of teenagers do?
Oh, as with all kids*, choose your battles wisely.
Some disagreements just aren't worth the drama.
*With respect, at the present time, I would class your wife in the child category, too.š¬

I also donāt want her to feel bad that sheās feeling like she has to hide things from her other family.
I think this is important. We know they work on guilt....yet you also don't want to teach her to lie by omission or become secretive. Secrets are never healthy.
I think the only solution is training her how to think, rather than what to think.
For example, with regard to magic and violence in Star Wars. You could ask her whether she thinks an aeroplane would seem like magic to a bronze age shepherd? Therefore is it magic, or just future science?
(I think there is no real violence in Star Wars but anyway). You could ask her, if it's not the most terrible violence when she visualises Armageddon and all of those millions of children being killed for the crime of not being lucky enough to be born into a witness family?
Isn't Darth Vader using the Death Star to destroy worlds not the same thing as Jehovah destroying billions here?
If she says that Jehovah is just, you could ask the following: "Would a child being killed on Earth view Jehovah any differently than a child being killed on Alderaan would view Darth Vader? Would either be any less evil from the point of view of the murdered child?"
i can't actually post the clip because i'm in a public library and their administrator won't let me find the clip.. but, a cnn woman reporter apparently on the ground in kabul, in full hijab, actually says the above clip.. please, please please, may the clip be just a parody, lol..
The reporting of this whole thing has been ludicrous. For a start they seem intent on sending women into the fray as reporters. All dressed head to toe in hijabs, unable to speak the language, and with a posse of protection around them, they constantly make these asinine comments.
All the time observing there are no Afgan women to be seen on the streets.
i wonder if anyone can explain this.
ezekiel 34:25 says .
and i will make a covenant of peace with them, and i will rid the land of vicious wild beasts, so that they may dwell securely in the wilderness and sleep in the forests.. the land is said to be rid of vicious wild beasts, so why does the watchtower picture in the new pure worship book show a large predatory cat on the tree in this picture?
Truth_be_known You sure that isn't the Cheshire Cat and Alice?
That's what I was thinking! It looks like an illustration from a magical children's book.
i asked a tennis friend this morning what he thought about whatās going on in afghanistan and he said it was terrible.
he was a military man and identifies as a middle of the road republican.
he supported most of trumpās policies but voted for biden because he couldnāt take trumpās mean tweets.
Unfortunately the USA does not have a good record when they involve themselves in other countryās business
Tell that to the WW1 and WW2 generation and they'll have your guts for garters, as they would say.
Seriously Min, no one has a good record involving themselves in Afgan business, period!!!
when we scrub these letters we also rename them.
this one you might want for your records.
besides, who would turn down a free cappuccino?.
I'll also add modern witnesses count time standing by a trolley or, now, writing letters. Whereas the older generation's dedication to the house to house ministry, and the amount of walking that entailed, served as a balance for their otherwise sedentary lifestyle. Driven by Watchtower's aversion to exercise, I believe this walking was a preventative for the diseases I mentioned so prevalent among modern JWs.
Atlantis what do you think? I know you've seen many changes yourself....have you noticed that the old style witness was lithe and long lived, the more recent witness obese and depressed??

I call bullshit on the 20,000 deaths as well. Statistically being one of Jehovahās witnesses puts you at a higher risk for respiratory illness. Unless many had a secret cigarette smoking habit and never got caught.
The reason Jehovah's witnesses have a higher rate of respiratory illnesses (and I don't doubt a higher rate for heart disease, diabetes, osteoarthritis and probably certain types of preventable cancers) is explained by evolutionary medicine.
The problem is Watchtower's historical aversion to sports and any form of regular exercise that takes time away from the organization.
Exercise in youth lays down bone mass which is a preventative in osteoarthritis. Exercise helps prevent respiratory illnesses, heart disease and diabetes. Exercise and maintaining healthy weight lowers risk of some forms of cancer (colorectal, uterine and breast for eg).
I think, given their demographic, 20,000 deaths out of 8 million JWs sounds a more than reasonable number.
According to Director Walensky, the only benefit from the vaccine now is presumably that it reduces the severity of symptoms.
But Vidqun when we say the vaccine "only" reduces severity of symptoms, what we're really talking about is death. The difference between having the vaccine and not having the vaccine is between feeling really ill and dying.
That's a pretty big "only".
However I'm not allowing my 15 year olds to have the vaccine. Particularly since they've already had Covid. So they're already carrying some immunity, which protects any elderly they may come in contact with. They are also super careful with hand washing, hygiene and mask wearing.
