Simon in response to a posters request for a non religious therapist, Scully and I both posted a page called "Find a Secular therapist" which covers all the English speaking countries and maybe could be posted under a "Help" section? The "Recovering from religion" organization is another good resource.

New JW.Watch Website - Plans, Ideas & Submissions
by Simon ini want to create a new site to help people leaving the wts.. the idea is that it will be curated content of articles and videos on specific subjects such as how to fade, how to handle family, personal experiences of leaving, mistakes to avoid, plus practical life matters impacted by the wts such as how to create or rebuild a career, planning for retirement, getting counselling, making friends etc.... the idea is that it should be lots of voices to share the love and promote lots of people's channels so it becomes a more effective resource (hopefully there will always be something informative and appealing to the people visiting).. if you have a youtube channel that you would like featured, or maybe have some specific video or series that would suit, i'd be happy to include them.. likewise, if you have a subject you'd like to write about and can share some practical knowledge and guidance on, or have a life-story you'd like to share because your experience could benefit others, please let me know.. i bought a domain and setup some placeholder content:.
https://jw.watch.
please message me or post here if you have any questions or ideas..

Another suggestion that came to mind....how about a book review/recommendation section (books related to watchtower or leaving watchtower/cults?) I noticed Slim has very the pretty pricey 'Rutherfords Coup' book and wrote a small piece on it, plus Jeff has a new book that was reviewed?

I'm wondering if it means ght be possible to order it through your local library? Sometimes if they don't have it you can put in a request.
Maybe we should have a book review section here. I'm guessing you've read it SBF???

Not all, some will be those militant anti-religious types who will like him more for living an anti-moral lifestyle.
I was thinking the same thing, though I hate to admit it. (Matt Dillahunty, anyone?🙄).
I think there's a lot of Athiest incels and woman haters who like the idea of Lloyd demanding his wife accepts his sexual demands (ie stays married but still has his Thai 'girlfriends' to visit every couple of months....and Dijana must lump it)

JoJorabbit Hi if you DM Atlantis or Twitter Jason M. Wynne @jasonmwynne founder of Avoidjw.org as he can assess most watchtower documents and either has it or knows where to get it.

Congregation in PA sues over mandatory reporting
by Corney inivy hill congregation of jehovah's witnesses is currently suing the pa department of human services.
it requests "a declaration that its elders are entitled to" clergy privilege, or, in the alternative,.
to the extent that the clergyman privilege is determined to exclude its elders on the basis that they are "members of [a] religious organization[] in which members other than the leader thereof are deemed clergymen or ministers," the court declare the statute to be unconstitutional.

They can also be sued when they disclose ecclesiastical communications to law enforcement.
Fisherman This is all irrelevant because the fact is elders don't find out through 'ecclesiastical confession', they find out because a parent or child reports it to them. Victims report it to them because watchtower makes them fear going to the police and they are primed to only tell the elders when the culprit is another witness.
Even if you can argue an elder isn't paid clergy, the circuit overseer certainly is! Abuse is also always reported to them during their circuit/elder meetings. I think authorities should be prosecuting COs for failure to report.
NB LHG makes a very good point about priests being priests for life, whereas elders frequently step down, get deleted, get DF or wake up!!

It seems growing up in a cult many of us become prey to a manipulative and narcissistic types. Having been a victim of CSA, it's possible her sexual boundaries were messed up too. If she has gotten involved with BDSM with an unsafe man it doesn't excuse her if she's guilty. I'm just saying it makes her more vulnerable to emotional abuse and manipulation by sexual predators.
Also as we've said on other threads, just because we reject some of Jehovah's witnesses system of morality doesn't mean that suddenly everything is on the table and that we don't have any sense of sexual morality whatsoever.
I think most ordinary people would concur with 80% of the values JWs hold, actually. Just because we want to reject that 20% that's so toxic, doesn't mean we (particularly as women) don't need to remain careful about the types of guys we allow into our lives.....and our bedrooms.

TonusOH like an advance, if you were working with a publisher. The difference being that the investors don't recoup this advance; they are doing it specifically to support the author. I like the concept, it helps creators get around the gates put up by publishers and industries to maintain control of a product they don't actually create.
not well regulated, so people need to be smart and cautious when deciding where to spend money.
Yes I've supported an author that way but the money I put up was basically the value of the book, a copy of which I received when it was published. So basically it's an advance you provide the author - one they wouldn't get from a publisher. Thoroughly enjoyed the book as did my son who is a history nerd.
So nothing like Lloyds situation, whereby people donated to his Indigogo of £25,000 but still had to buy the book.
Then for the second, he had the nerve to rip off Neil The Great Apostate's book AND charge people for the pleasure.
