  A new generation of anointed that will not pass away.

  obviously, the older “ anointed ” from 1914 died.

  and because they were anointed, they hopefully went to heaven.

  in the first century though, a newer generation did not replace the old.

  LUHE Jesus explicitly said that nobody (including the governing body, presumably) knows the exact date of armageddon, not the angels in heaven, nor the son, only the father.

  So, how the hell can JWs claim that the big-A is sooo close? They don't know the date, lol.

  Do they know the year? If not, do they know the decade?

  If not the decade, do they know which century it will happen in?

  The whole thing about armageddon being sooo close is madness, a form of mental illness.

  EXACTLY!! I mean the watchtower is always saying "Jehovah is not slow, as to his promises...blah blah" and that it's because "a day is as a thousand years" etc.

  So in that case, as you say LUHE, can they even know the millennium of Jehovah's date....No they bloody cannot!!!

  since a previous thread is getting comments that this guy may become a new gb member, the topic above is worth pursuing.

  They’ll find a way to get around the ‘ must be anointed’ problem. It evidently will be God’s will

  I'm not sure I understand.

  Firstly, have they not already said there will come a time when JWs will be led by helpers only, because all anointed will be in heaven? Also, is it not the case you can be anointed without being a member of the over-fappers? In fact you can be anointed and not be the Slave, so....?? Or am I way off base!

  KS bothers me that he has been out for so long and may still be experiencing such loneliness 😞

  Yes. I really think he may be borderline. So much of what he does smacks of self hurting/self sabotage one minute, the next minute rank narcissism.

  I think his post about Ryan Giggs shows poor self reflection. Attempting to force your wife into an open marriage is in a different league to nuisance emails once you've split up.

  Sometimes I think ex JWs, especially those who lean to the liberal left, find it hard to sort out a reasonable moral compass. Not to say they're not nice, probably too nice ...just that not everything about the sexual revolution was 100% great....especially for working class women.

  For example all this "poly Amory" cobblers. Vanishingly few people can manage that - whereby everyone is fairly treated and genuinely happy and no one (mostly women) are not taken advantage of Modern sexual mores are not necessarily making for happy young people. Swipe left, swipe right....but everyone is lonely.

  The anti marriage brigade, for instance. Or the "poly amory" is cool Is what's termed a "luxury belief". So a belief that is probably ok for a very small & very privileged few. Because middle class liberals, for example, espouse single motherhood as "independent" blah blah but the truth is middle class women ARE the ones getting married and staying married, meanwhile POOR women are struggling as single mums with men who make no committment to their kids - leaving them in poverty.

  here is a practice i only recently learned about and am actually interested in learning more details...some of you may have experience on the subject.

  i always thought it marvelous, loving, and kind how the brothers would go in ( at their own expense) after disasters and repair homes of the witnesses who had been adversely effected.

  i personally have worked freely helping to clean and repair after flooding.

  Some of the JW in poorer countries still had to pay per copy as we did before the donation arrangement. The thing about the donation arrangment which we weren't told was it was all about not paying taxes on the money collected for literature.In the countries ( seemingly more productive ) they governments wanted tax on literature bought and sold.

  I knew about the tax thing for donation basis literature, but I had no idea poor JWs were still made to pay!! That makes me furious. I mean really furious!!

  Bring on the YOUNG elders

  there seems to be a push to fast track the younger men to become elders.

  beings jesus was 30 when he took up his ministry, i would think that would sort of be an age gauge...the older men were to have their children in subjection, so some were old enough to have children that were old enough to want to rebel.

  ( that's my slant ) how will the ones who have been jw for years respond to being counseled by those younger than some of their grandchildren?

  Elders and ministerial servants are less likely to leave the truth. Appoint them young. On the flip side young, inexperienced elders have the ability to wake up others.

  Yes unfortunately it's the lousy elders who get "locked in" by the power and benefits that go along with the position.

  The good ones will wake up and leave when they see how wrong /unfair judicials are and the other dark secrets kept from the flock - such as CSA and the cash cow that are conventions/property flips.

  They have had periods where young elders, even in their early 20s, were a thing. Most of the congs are women anyways and they've always had to deal with the less experienced telling them which way's up! The only non serving older males will be fed up Pimo husband's, who just want to be left alone😜

  if so, how nerve wracking was it for you?

  i'd be terrified i'd stop concentrating for a moment and out of habit make a right turn at a red light into oncoming traffic.

  Joe134 Yup I was in foreign country and on crossing the road I looked the wrong way and almost got clouted by a car.

  Good point! I bet that's responsible for a fair few accidents. I know we get loads of tourists hurt or even killed riding bikes in Cambridge in the summer.

  We had a case a couple years back where a serviceman's wife pulled out of an American air base on the wrong side and drove straight in to a teenager on a bike, killing him instantly..

  The worst thing was that she hit and ran and then did a runner to the states. I think they tried to interview her but she claimed diplomatic immunity. I think her husband worked for the CiA or something, but even if he had immunity (which he didn't) it still wouldn't have covered her.

  They spent years trying to get her to come back, the boys parents even went to the states to try and beg her. She is a mother of 3 or 4 kids herself so there was no way they would have sent her to jail if she hadn't hit and ran anyway. There was a slight possibility she may get a very short sentence due to that but it was still unlikely. She wasnt drunk as far as anyone knows, it was just a terrible mistake. I think it was running away that got to the parents most. Anyway they've sorted it out now. She has apologized I believe.
