  i was brought up as a born-in(tm) here in the uk.

  it wasn't until i was 50 that the scales fell from my eyes, i woke up, got da'd from the cult and my wife was advised to leave me by the elders whom i had served with on the boe.

  He probably won't get involved (unless it's very high profile) because he won't get paid ...his main mission in life

  Yup. Exactly. Everything interesting other people bought to the table. It was only his pompous, self important self belief that led we guileless JWs to believe in and support him too - thus making him look far more capable than he actually is. (Also helps that he's male, imposingly tall and calls himself an elder, despite spending only months in the office).
  And is he misogynistic? Abso-fucking-lutely. Pr0ner I think he holds a special resentment toward you because you really had his number.

  Oh he has, don't worry! I believe he's a he/him on Twitter. He's also done some stories on 'THE transgenders' then promptly ticked off for using the wrong terminology. It's frankly embarrassing how Lloyd will say whatever is politically expedient, with zero understanding of the issues he virtue signals about.

  He thinks that he can get a sanction against her,... a former volunteer helper, who is also a retired lawyer (solicitor), ...by charging her with breaking attorney-client confidentiality. Wow!

  Kim explains why this isn't the case in her Andrew gold interview, I believe. Lloyd was never her client, you have to agree to a contract for that. Kim merely gave her opinion about some cases Watchtower were involved in - never Lloyd, anyway. He merely used her as he does everyone, because Lloyd knows nothing about anything but being a JW.

  "modern day organisation of Jehovah's witnesses"??? Is there any other? There's certainly no 'ancient organisation of Jehovah's witnesses'.

  If you want to 'witness for Jehovah' you need to convert to Judaism.

  If you believe in the New Testament, you need to witness for Jesus...as it commands you to.

  our witness friend who during covid grew his beard has been hassled by elders who asked him "why" he chose to have facial growth.

  TD That's very interesting. So, far from it not being usual - or acceptable - in the US, it's actually less usual nowadays, than it was previously. Yet you can't look any where today without seeing a beard so it's utterly absurd for watchtower to say beards are not ok.

  In the past I knew people in the UK who had them. Usually JW men who were the nicest guys because they were not ambitious. They tended to more than pull their weight, but without having the 'title'.

  my jw mother died july 5th.

  it was quite honestly not that emotional for me.

  Maybe the Queen thing is more about you grieving the mother you should/would have had, if JW hadn't entered your families lives?

  As punky says, sometimes it catches up. I'm guessing with your name maybe your mum entered pre 75? If so, you wouldn't have had an easy childhood😬

  Anyway, condolences and wishing you the best. It's never easy.

  i was under the impression that it was going to be a short war, that russia’s military would indeed subdue ukraine’s forces quickly but that is not happening.

  seems that russia’s military power is much less than it’s reputed to be.

  Russia has a much bigger problem with Ultranationlism and Xenophobic hate groups. I have Russian friends. It is a huge problem. They can't even play football in half of Europe because of it. You can't be gay, or a person of colour in certain parts of the country. I asked them how a country that lost 20 million to actual Nazis in WW2 can have the largest number of Neo Nazi skinheads on earth.

  I know....it confuses the hell out of me, too, so many Ukrainians died. Mind you most of the camp guards were Ukrainian (and Lithuanian) plus the Einsatsgruppen were made up of them.

  But...apparently they've been dismantling monuments to the Soviets defeating the Nazis. One huge tank (probably the famous T-34) was dismantled and many other monuments prior to the war. I have to say I think that's despicable when you think of the blood the Soviets spilled in defeating the Nazis, it's not right.
