  how many remember when the wts changed their policy on alternative service; changed it to alternative civilian service so jw men could choose it because it was not supervised by the military.

  shows how the wts quibbles with words to advance a "new teaching.

  in the 70's a bethel elder told me that every morning in the 60's the paint and scaffold crew, (which was located on the 5th floor of building 4) would go up to the roof and walk around the perimeter on top of the ledge, which i doubt was more than 12" wide.

  then they'd go render sacred service to jehovah..

  The period Baalam's Ass (best internet name ever) was at Bethel, I was a child dreaming of being there. But I was given to understand, that as a girl, I'd never be privileged enough to work for 50p a month (to buy socks with I was told😊)

  How I longed to devote my life and give my all to God....little did I know. I cannot imagine the devastation in finding out the truth whilst there.....

  put in your bets as to where you think lard i mean lloyd evans will land after december's drop in his patrons.

  in september he started at 457 patrons, did his whiny begging fest and peaked at 478, but then dropped down to 439 at the beginning of october.

  as of this moment (nov. 6), he's at 427 paid members.. so, where do you think he'll be on december 2nd?

  Need Vocal Renditions of Sing Praises to Jehovah

  i am looking for vocal renditions of some the kingdom songs in this old songbook: sing praises to jehovah.

  most of my favorite kingdom songs are from that songbook and i would love to download them on my phone.

  i enjoy listening to vocal renditions of kingdom melodies.

  A lot of people prefer the old song books and although it's true many people's memories are marred by domestic/childhood violence or CSA, we all do cherish some memories of time spent with loved ones. Even having that close community - albeit we know intellectually at least - that those ties were conditional on our remaining loyal to an organisation, our hearts still treasure them.♥️

  I'm only sorry that if I didn't sound like a strangled cat I'd willingly sing some of those old favourites for you myself😂👍

  Jesus and Thomas twin theory?

  in light of the recent attack on indian jws i did some research about christianity in india and found out that india has a long history of christian influence, and not, like many of us probably believed, brought by the british, rather india has had christians for 2000 years.. matter of fact, they may be similar length and claim to the ‘original’ christians only equal by the roman (european), syrian (middle eastern) and ethiopian (african) christians.

  the story goes that judas thomas (aka doubting thomas or dydimus) (literally translated: dydimus = twin (greek) and tomas = twin (aramaic)), the twin brother of jesus travelled to india and did some miracles along the way, started the church there, hence deification of thomas is common there.. i found some articles written by eg.

  bart ehrman supporting this theory, personally not that much of a fan, but i know many interested in jw exegesis as he supports various fringe theories including wtbts claim to the name jehovah.. the claims of jesus’ twin brother seem to be supported by the original writings, including the gospel as we know it in the west (almost every canonical gospel writer alludes to the twin), but also various other non-canonical writings and at least 3 complete gospels claimed to be by thomas himself (although the oldest writings stem from the first, second and third century respectively).

  AnnonyI found some articles written by eg. Bart Ehrman supporting this theory, personally not that much of a fan, but I know many interested in JW exegesis as he supports various fringe theories including WTBTS claim to the name Jehovah.

  I watched one of his recent videos with Megan Lewis and boy does he 100% agree with Watchtower doctrine re the trinity, the state of the dead, paradise etc. In fact the only thing they diverge on is the 'two classes' of Christian idea. He's a full on Arian (if he believed lol).

  His fave Bible translation? Wescott and Hort lol!

  I cannot express how terrible this crime is.

  That poor little girl. What choice did she have in the kinds of doctrines her parents religion dictates?

  WHY WHY WHY do these terrorists keep targeting ordinary folk who have no power to change anything?

  A pre-teen GIRL in the Jehovah's witnesses has as much say as the chair she sat on within that organisation!

  Pornography in the Marriage

  the magazine that they are studying in the congregation this month has an article at the back about how pornography in a marriage could damage the relationship.. there's one piece of advice that sounds rather scary, the wt suggests that the couple should "consider asking an elder with whom you are both comfortable to sit in and guide your discussions for a time.".

  how many of you would want an elder present in your home while you and your partner discussed your personal sexual cravings and the type of porn videos being watched?.

  Rattigan I can imagine that there are cops like that too. They prefer to work in the sex crimes unit because they can legally possess and view videos and pictures in their investigations. Somewhat similar to the drug cops keeping some of the drugs for their own use.

  I know it's not in the same league, but my step dad was our regional trading standards officer and back in the day of "video nasties" & pirate videos he used to confiscate illegal copies....only to bring them home to watch & give away to family & friends for their collections.
