Be aware though not all ( very few in fact) therapists have a good understanding of what it is to grow up in a high control religon. Unfortunately, our cousins over the pond are light years ahead of us in that dept, but again, Steve Hassan is willing to conduct 'supervisions' if u can find a therapist willing to undertake you. You have not said which country you are in, it may be best not too but the reason its relevant is that there is an expert in dealing with the emotional aftermath of being on a cult and his name is Steve Hassan. If you are in the states he may be able to help you. I think its really important you find a good therapist, someone who understands what a devastating situation your parents jave put you in. My heart goes out to you, as a mother my alarm bells are going off like crazy and I feel so angry that when you are going through a normal part of growing up - first love- instead of joyfully supporting you the fools have driven you away. I am sure your boyfriend is lovely, but you are so young I worry that if it doesn't work out you no longer have a support network to fall back on - leaving you terribly vulnerable. If you are not sure, your family doctor may be a good place to start...he or she may be able to advise you on a suitable support group/self help group - forums are ok but you need some flesh and blood support when dealing with the emotional hangover of leaving a cult.

Ghana jw.org call for retraction
by mana11 inwe have read with interest the above front-page headline and its articlewhich was published on page 3 of your newspaper the chronicle of june 22, 2015. in the article, the writer, alfred adams of takoradi, reported that rebecca dankwa and her mother, believed to be worshipping at the jehovahs witnesses church, refused to accept blood transfusion on the grounds that their religion forbids blood transfusions, and she died as a result.. as representatives of jehovahs witnesses in ghana, we write to point out the misinformation contained in that report.
our investigation into the matter has clearly established that the said rebecca dankwa was not one of jehovahs witnesses.
since this person mentioned in the report was not one of jehovahs witnesses, we are at a loss as to why the name of jehovahs witnesses should be linked to the story.

The biblical prohibition on blood involves eating it.
I wonder how many JW know the analogy between a blood transfusion and a dextrose/feed transfusion is false - a blood transfusion is not food and won't save your life if your're starving, in the same way a kidney transplant wont. A bloodtransfusion is analogous to an organ transplant - something the wtbs used not - and now does - allow.
Food for thought.

Comparing JWs to Jews
by CalebInFloroda insome have asked how my views and convictions have changed over the past 15 years or so after leaving the watchtower behind to return to my familys roots and embrace judaism.
the best way to explain things is to allow both the religion of the watchtower and my life as a jew today to stand side-by-side for comparison.
while i cant guarantee this will help prove to others that the jehovahs witnesses are truly a crazy religious group, i am sure it will prove to most that jews probably are, and are quite aware of it.

i took my life in my hands and checked out jw.org, initially to find out what the go was regarding the sarah as satan posts and the patronus spell lion ( although i was nearly crying with laughter when i real that all along the watchtower (spiritualist harry potter reading) flash of writing department madness, well the posts about it anyway.. anyway what made me feel so bad was something about being good to full time long term service people..in the caleb and sophia section for gods sake!

Anyway what made me feel so bad was something about being good to full time long term service people..in the caleb and sophia section for gods sake! It was this sad picture of two elderly publishers ( god what a word! Fucking publishing company) posed next to their happy younger selves. It was jusy the utter SADNESS, EMPTY YAWNING DEPRESSION at the thoughts of thousands of tender hearted, gentle souls who sacrifice their whole lives to a money making pyramid company - for the sake of love of their fellow man. Ok maybe they get a decent marriage out of it which many self centered worldly types don't.

I saw the heartbreaking post by the in JW who watched a df'd, sincere young man hauled over hot coals by the w@#*y elders till he couln't take anymore and skiddadled. It saddened me beyond belief and I posted a reply which messed up. It was about the no of people we dont hear about, the ones whoose self esteem is so low because they 'miss the mark'(as my spiritual mother never tired of telling me) that they spend the rest of their (often short)life in self destruct. The ones who go from "the book" to Bedlam (or prison or rehab). Yes I hate the org that does this but I love the people, good good people, who have given their lives over to what they see as the highest calling. Not always, but sometimes, the very best folk you will ever meet, particularly pre internet age. Sorry to blather but just feelin' sad today- not my usual cynical self. So to all you lurkers out there, you ARE appreciated..and I am aware that some are suckered in because they have a BIG HEART. Just remember, education is ALWAYS the answer and never trust anything that denegrates an education.

I agree sir82, wbt$ is known for its fingers in the ear "nah nah nah nah I can't hear you" kids don't exsist attitude (as with everything else). Making kids sit through those interminable meetings is one of their proudest boasts.
