for me, the dead giveaway is this.

jesus wrote nothing.. stop and think about that.. if jesus were the authentic messiah, his ministry would not simply be local.. his instructions, his mission, the details of his teachings would be too precious to risk leaving it in the hands of "men unlettered (illiterate) and ordinary (blue-collar yokels).".

jesus, were he the one and only hope of mankind, would be absolutely certain to write down with great simplicity and specificity the exact owner's manual necessary to rescue mankind.. never happened!.

Reading this just made me wonder if Ray Franze was the exception because he got in under the radar being the nephew of a current member therefore not subject to the usual scrutiny?

Fading is never 100% successful is it?

mum phoned last night to see how we all are.

after fifteen years away from meetings and my old jw life you'd think my fade could be called 'successful' and for the most part it is.

.. my resentment at being lied to and having wasted over thirty years of my life has left me like a glass of water full to the brim, it only takes a tap to make a mess.

Fading is never 100% successful is it?

mum phoned last night to see how we all are.

after fifteen years away from meetings and my old jw life you'd think my fade could be called 'successful' and for the most part it is.

.. my resentment at being lied to and having wasted over thirty years of my life has left me like a glass of water full to the brim, it only takes a tap to make a mess.

Our friends do the same though - they got their dog before they had kids but really it's their first child and he's "big brother" to the kids (so protective / patient / playful).

Me too...ours was very much " big sis"

Can't sleep either...Simons right 'tho, its there bubbling even with non witness family and the silliest stuff can set it off, and hurt like hell...

Or was it silly stuff? Some won't agree but I think it was an interesting subject to take your ( sort of) stand over.........no, actually any ex witness should see that whether a theist or not ...but for me personally the further along in my journey I go the less " anthropo- centric" I get and the closer I feel to our animal brethren the angrier I get with witness dismissiveness of animal kind, animal history (!)and particularly animal suffering.

I miss my dog who passed over 2 years now, she was closer more loyal and loving than most of my " blood" animal family xxx

let's set aside our differences for the moment and appreciate this excellent documentary cedars put together that should prove to be an invaluable tool in helping to expose the child abuse issues in the organization.. i was humbled to be able to help with this project on such an important subject, though my part in it was insignificant..

Much of the apostle Paul's writing that the witnesses refer to when defending their policies - the two witness rule, forgiveness of sins, one brother to lay bare his fault between another and not to sue each other as do the worldly people - is utterly misplaced. In fact the organizations' nefarious use of scripture to escape its blood guilt and cover its own self interested back goes against the spirit of Christianity completely.

If they weren't so gung ho about disfellowshipping and their non scriptural judicial committees , they would see that their main responsibility is to a) do no harm b) protect the congregation and wider community.This they can do by reporting child abuse and referring on victim and perp to experts. As Christians they can then DO THEIR REAL DUTY AS SHEPHARDS BY BEING THERE AFTERWARDS TO PICK UP THE PIECES FOR ALL INVOLVED - INNOCENT OR GUILTY - INCLUDING FAMILIES.

absolutely amazing how fast this technology is advancing.

at the darpa challenge last year the robots could hardly walk up right and it took them ten minutes to walk through an open door frame.

now they're running around outside and opening doors like a pack of velociraptors!

one of the major differences between mammals and reptiles is in our ears.

we have three small bones that transmit sound to the inner ear.

technically called "auditory ossicles", they are the malleus (hammer), incus (anvil), and stapes (stirrup).. reptiles have just one bone in their ears, the stapes.

My best, best childhood friend is a witness( out of devotion to her parents, a misplaced loyalty basically) and an audiologist. In fact she runs the whole dept , the largest in the county,and he a Msc qualification ( the smartest kid in a school that sent many kids to OxBridge, she dutifully attended community college where this course was the most ' academic'). Of course she's shot to the top in her field.

I always thought the human inner ear was one of those areas creationists harp on about and I vaguely had heard of the jaw bone theory but this is beaut.

My girl is one of the witness 3% with a masters or above, but I fear she decided as a young girl when her mum converted in the 70's ( as did her similarly intelligent dad) to stick with those she loves no matter what.

Her pioneer mum has now passed away, perhaps now is my chance.
