Had a operation today and was asked about blood transfusions.

operation was successful only minor but some interesting information was revealed to me from the surgeon.l requested that they treat me as if l was a jehovahs witness with regards to blood transfusions.the doctor said well that varies from jw to jw and l asked what do you mean?his response was that in his dealings with jw's was that approx half of witnesses will accept a blood transfusion in life threatening circumstances and sign a form saying so.l was blown away when he told me this.l was curious if others in here have heard similar storys.lt seems to me that many witnesses have weakened their stance on this controversial subject.

I agree Orphan Crow - all doctors take the greatest care with regard to blood loss - hemorrhage is a risk in surgery but one to be avoided at all cost, they don't play fast and loose with your life and blood !

As regards to the OP I am so glad the doctors are aware of this variation in stance, check with the patient and don't just assume because they are a JW and have signed that offensive DPA card (previously called Advance medical directive or no blood form) with the HLC or elders breathing down their necks, doesnt mean they definately dont accept blood in an emergency. Also many cards are found to be out of date, unsigned or unwitnessed which doctors must also be aware of. ( see http://ajwrb.org/medicine/watchtower-no-blood-card )all good news!

Oh wow Umberto, you really went through the mill girl - I don't know what to say except you are extremely brave and you don't need to qualify anything to anyone ( for instance explaining the court situation) I know that children back then even in normal society were rarely listened to let alone the witnesses where children are little more than an annoyance that needs to know their place.

Have you done your life story anywhere,Umberto ? I read Simons recently - it was really inspirational and l identified with a lot, makes you feel closer to them.

You lovely Lady.... I started getting weepy just reading your post, I want to give you a huge HUG. I think it's wonderful that you have so many positive plans! Please though do take care and take it slow! It will be wonderful if you guys get to spend some wonderful time together as a couple instead of beating yourselves up working for the society. I'm sure you will make many many friends volunteering for charity.... and making a real positive difference. Do whatever you must to keep your family and your good conscience, I feel for you - I've been there as have many. ❤️

Is the WT’s Paradise Earth doctrine a delusion?

the wt’s teaching that humans will live forever on a paradise earth will necessitate that given that there will be no more death, then immortal humans will have to be relocated to other planets in order to prevent the earth from becoming overpopulated.. so how many habitable, earth-like planets are there?more and more habitable, earth-like planets would have to become available on a continuous, never-ending basis ad infinitum as mankind’s population grows given that there will be no more death.. the longevity/sustainability of life on these planets will be limited by the fact that the sun serving these planets will eventually die:https://shar.es/1cko6n.

....So when the laughs died down we continued our conversation...he wasn't aware of the veggie animals and the Noah edict ( has never been a JW, naturally) and I further explained the thread topic and other puzzling stuff like how dinosaurs fit in to witness ideas ....so he has this puzzled look on his face and says " but what are these people and animals going to eat?" [Thinks...] " ah...maybe they WONT EAT...in the paradise!"

😉 And there, sez I, you get a perfect demonstration of how the witnesses get their theology...if there's a hole in your theory...get out of it by digging yourself another one!!

if you were hooked up to a polygraph machine when you were still an asleep, kool-aid drinking dub and asked if you agree 100% with every single wt teaching (asked as individual questions and collectively), would you have "passed" with no signs of deception?.

i know, i definitely would not have "passed" such an interegation.

i would have tripped up on questions about blood, dfing and non jws being marked for destruction just to name a few.

My readings over the headshipl thing would have been off the chart! I swore I would never get married because of it and as my Dad has never been a( baptised )JW it was never an issue for me at home... I also thought the grooming rules were BS too, fully cognizant that the Watchtards are stuck in 50's America ( the rubbish bit not the cool Jimmy Dean Marlon Brando bit!)

when faced with awkward questions about the morality of god many christians respond by distancing themselves from the old testament and focusing on "gentle jesus meek and mild" of the new testament.. for bible-believing christians this is intellectually dishonest.. according to christian dogma jesus was the god of abraham isaac and jacob.

the logos, the alpha and omega who is "the same yesterday, today, and forever.".

he claimed that "he that has seen me has seen the father" and that "i and the father are one".. in short, christians assert that jesus is almighty god from all eternity.. it therefore follows that jesus was the god who ordered the nation of israel to take slaves as inheritable possessions.

Why do theists pretend not to know that this jubilee applied ONLY to Jews - as I have pointed out before according to their own theology the Isrealites were all cousins, how generous of God to allow relatives a release from slavery after 50 years when they were too old and sick to feed themselves ....how happy the slavemaster would be not to have a useless mouth to feed.

Did the OT Isrealites do one single thing differently to any other ancient tribe in the circumstances?No - despite the wisdom of the all mighty wise creator of the universe they behaved as abominably as any other Bronze Age tribe, funny that!Anyone would think they just made the whole God thing up!Oh wait..

It took the influence of the oh so human Greek philosophers to trickle down to the Isrealites from about 300 BC before they started to become somewhat more enlightened around the time the NT was penned.

Wouldn't it be funny if Cofty and SBF where really the same person...or even better married to each other, but the kids had ruled to save their sanity the parents were only allowed to debate the "R" word on forums, the proviso being that the parents were not allowed to TELL each other when one of them made a post ( or dinner would never get done as they'd be at it all day). Explains why Slim is so fast off the drawer - he's seen hubby sneak off into the study & guesses what he's up to!)

for me, the dead giveaway is this.

jesus wrote nothing.. stop and think about that.. if jesus were the authentic messiah, his ministry would not simply be local.. his instructions, his mission, the details of his teachings would be too precious to risk leaving it in the hands of "men unlettered (illiterate) and ordinary (blue-collar yokels).".

jesus, were he the one and only hope of mankind, would be absolutely certain to write down with great simplicity and specificity the exact owner's manual necessary to rescue mankind.. never happened!.

The object of the year of Jubilee was liberty and to break all oppression. The Jubilee was a type or forerunner of what it would be under the reign of King Messiah. The Jubilee was to set the stage for the coming of King Messiah as His reign would be one continual Jubilee. All oppression would end under His rule. Justice and truth would reign."

You know this law was meant only for other Jews, who, by the way, were actually all cousins according to their own theology...slavery within the family no less. Horrible.
