  does the watchtower receive govenment subsides for their learn to read studies in 3rd. world countries?

  Not surprising the Burundi folk who learned to read were adult women, they were probably already Witnesses pressured to read in order to improve their preaching work, since there are so many more female Witnesses than male. I obviously think it's a very good thing that poor women learn to read . I just worry that instead of improving their lives, they will be emotionally blackmailed into wasting their small amount of free time in 'service to Jehovah'.

  Wish there was a way of paging Orphan Crow , she knows a lot about this subject and is very passionate about Watchtower abuses in this area.

  hi guys.. "brother" jose is quite possibly the most sinister speaker i've ever seen or heard.

  and i've seen/head a lot of cults in my time.. he's over the top with his voice tone and gestures.

  I now predict the org will go out with a bang, not a whimper. He'll be the one to wack the last few doddering GB members over the back of the head and declare the new light - The Church of Jose's Witnesses!

  Ooooo, Madame Bartholey, the Hungarian Countess responsible for the deaths of many virgins - she would bathe in their blood to keep herself looking young and beautiful -WAS RIGHT!!

  Only thing she had wrong, she didn't inject it. She was apparently walled up alive in her castle as punishment. Wonder if the virginity of your victim makes any difference?!😜; )

  during the book study which is basically a book all about the history of "gods organization" ©.

  a paragraph that hit me like a ton of the proverbial bricks was this.... 9 first, jehovah’s servants came to have the proper view of the importance of god’s name.

  faithful early bible students viewed the ransom arrangement as the bible’s main teaching.

  New Resolution?

  had our midweek meeting last night.

  they had a resolution to send an extra (i wanna say $1100 but i only remember it was at least $1000) per month to forward the kingdom preaching work etc.. you know how they work in the kh...no one votes against anything.

  i abstained as i almost have always done.

  D'you notice how "Happy giving widow grandma" has miraculously got a fatter, fuller healthier looking face than poor "sad starving widow grandma". So even though you have literally nothing to eat, if you give your last money to Watchtower God will make sure you eat enough to put on weight.

  I cannot tell you how angry that Watchtower article made me.

  They also wrote all their Babylon the Great theories when only Christianity carried any weight in their myopic Westernized world view.

  Even if the UN was able to somehow suppress religion in the west, how on earth do they think it would hold any sway in, for example, large swathes of Asia with it's many localised religious beliefs or the Islamic countries....I'd like to see the UN try to stop those Pathan tribesmen in the Afgan mountains from their weekly mozey down to the mosque!

  No it doesn't apply to god as he, she or it remains silent so all we have are bad translations of that silence. The WTBTS simply make's up stuff.

  Its like S.E.T.I. started telling us that Aliens were saying if we all wear underpants on our heads and walk around in wellies full of beer they will come visit. We'd know the folks at S.E.T.I. were making it up.
  

  Unfortunately, although the radio's silent at the Watchtower when they make things up it's dangerous and cruel - like the blood stance and shunning.

  Memories of Grace Gough

  hi everyone;i'm not on here too much anymore, but i've been asked to write a brief biography of our dear grace gough ('mouthy' on here).

  i'm writing my own memories of her but it was also suggested that i maybe contact others who knew her to see if they had a nice memory or two of her they'd like to share.

  I was reading some old posts on here last year. I didn't ever know Mouthy ( Grace) and it's often hard to get a real sense of the person through forum posts....but I was touched by the level of warmth that emanated from her, the lady's character really shone through as loving, fun and compationate. I'm envious of those of you who had her in your lives.

  I know I'm preaching to the choir but what evil the Watchtower has to answer for, for causing a dear old grandmother to be shunned and alone in her old age because her good conscience could not go along with their rulings.
