You're wrong. They will be *forced* to change their child protection policy on pain of various penalties, probably removal of charitable tax status. And they *will* comply, believe me, money is their no.1 priority.
It may take longer in the US but it will happen. Europe and UK Will be first to do this.

I would ensure Elders are forced to undergo child/ vulnerable adult protection training that is * if they wish* to be considered a *religion* at all.

Personally I would love to remove their charitable status completely as they DO NOT PROVIDE ANY CHARITABLE services. Whether they consider themselves a religion or not is irrelevant. The *organization itself* does not provide anything. The individual members provide the studies and pay for the tracts they give to the public. They are not free.

I would also ensure, somewhat as Bulgaria has pulled off, that refusal of blood is a matter of conscience. Pregnant and delivering mothers will undergo extensive counselling or refusal of blood will be considered the result of illegal undue pressure and removal of true autonomy.I would also ensure medical staff are informed of the truth behind HLC and effects of shunning.

But no, I would not ban them. I would not want a fascist state, nor to play into their hands.

Cyprus JW's Military Service

i work with a nurse who served for 2 years in the army of cyprus as is compulsory in that country.

i happened to ask about jw's and their consequential punishment for not doing it.

he laughed and stated that since 2009 they have to do it and that he personally knew several that 'served.

I think what your colleague has come across is probably cases of JW " born in's " who were never baptised but hold some residual belief's from childhood. I tend to call these folks " cultural" jw's.

These are not under any obligation not to serve in the military and indeed we have posters on this site who are ex-military from jw backgrounds.

Finished Mystery (1917)... The book that Jesus approved...

so a few months ago, a friend sent me an actual copy of finished mystery which was published in 1917 (not a pdf download... the actual book).

i must say, this was the most disturbing book i have ever had the displeasure of reading.

but i only read it because this was the main publication that was being distributed worldwide when jesus supposedly chose the watchtower in 1918 and i basically wanted to see for myself what jesus saw in the wt that would compel him to choose this religious corporation over all other religious denominations.. anyway, if anyone is interested in knowing the actual contents of this book, here are some bullet points i put together from some of the notes i took as i read the book:.

Finky So announcing that God had chosen him (1919) after Jesus reviewed his preaching and teaching made for himself and the organization a platform of validity and its this particular announcement is what today's GB is trying to weaken and white wash.

My families shunning has gone to a whole new level

I'm so very sorry. It sounds like your mother is, indeed, a narcissist. Why don't they tell the truth? Why don't they say " My son is no longer going to jehovahs witness meetings so I am shunning , shunning my granddaughter, blocking his phone calls destroying his photos even his baby snaps. He is dead to me" and SEE how much sympathy she gets from non JW 's after THAT. My guess is you will be the one who gets the sympathy.

No women can loose "privileges" from talking to her faded son, so why do it (shun)? There is no where in the bible it tells her to do such a thing.

Public performance: How can anyone say that PUNLIC PERFORMANCE are not a part of witness life. Children are expected to go D2D what more literal public performance is that??? Also the secondary meaning of this problem - that children are expected to behave impeccably in kingdom hall...to the extent that VERY young children are smacked and physically abused in the bathrooms for behaving like, well normal toddlers. Older kids are expected to put on the fake "happy witness" face, another public performance.

Fraud : With regard to this we all know of the avalanche of sexual abuse cases that were not reported because protecting the witness name was more important than protecting kids. THAT is the very definition of this type of abuse...parental and adult pressure to comply with keeping quiet and not reporting crime committed within the congregation.

Anders Anderson What struck me suddenly like a bolt when ai read that list is kids were victims of religious abuse when I was a kid in the 70's and 80's

Jehovahs witnesses : almost all the kids I knew were subject to most things on that list

Sikh kids couldn't mix with Hindu kids even in school, so seperation and looking down on others. Violence toward non compliant kids in terms of religon

Hindu kids couldn't mix with lower cast kids

Sikh kids were kept seperated from society, forbidden absolutely to carry on froendships with whites and blacks out of school. Again kept seperate from "the world"

Muslim girls often ended up in young marriages with abusive partners. Surprisingly drink often involved but their separation, again from " the world" often limited their opportunities for help.

The more I think the more I realise how prevalent religeous abuse was back then.Even now my brother's best friend has had to take a court order out on his wife who was physically abusing his daughter, all in the name off religion. He is a Sikh.

David_Jay I am getting help from some rabbinical assistance as I write this. Right now they are explaining to me that the real error in the Witnesses dating is that they are counting 70 years as if they are SOLAR, but in reality the 70 years are LUNAR

Funny they count the 70 years as solar, and yet when they calculate the date of the memorial they use lunar months as per the Jewish calender.

I will only believe in demons if...

jws are known to have an obsession and preoccupation with demons.. this obsession and preoccupation is not without merit given that jesus, his disciples/apostles, and the general public of 1st century ce judea and galilee are reported as believing in the existence of demonic spirits and in the possibility of demon possession of an individual.. exorcism formed a large part of jesus' ministry on earth.

the gospels and the book of acts describe many exorcisms where jesus and his disciples release people from demonic possession.. ___ .

but how do demons get inside a person's brain or body?

I knew a guy, the child of Polish Roman Catholics , who was excorcized. It was a horrific experience for him. It was the culmination of years of childhood suffering at the hands of abusive, NARCISSISTIC parents. The Church didn't balk at putting a child through an horrific ordeal when the problem was the adults around him. I don't think this case is atypical.

A lovely man with a wonderful family of his own , he suffered from severe depression his whole life. It goes without saying he became a life-long atheist.

in the movie's story, ray kroc, the man who is in charge of franchising mcdonalds restaurants, is finding himself in a situation where he is doing gangbusters at creating the stores, but is going broke on his contract.

he gets help from another fast food executive who examines his books.one aspect of the business jumps out.

the stores need land to operate on, and that money is going to the land-owners who lease the land to the stores.
