hi all, i'm diving deep into historical jw literature research and i keep seeing ibid as a frequently cited source - what is this?
i've tried the old google, but no luck.
does this stand for something (i'm probably missing something incredibly obvious) or have i spent too many hours reading 1930s the golden age magazines and depleted all my electrons already?

watchtower november 2017, page 10, paragraph 8 - "today, a christian guilty of serious sin needs to seek the help of congregation elders to recover.
) why is this so important?
first, the arrangement for elders to handle cases of serious sin comes from jehovah, (2nd lie!
one eye Joe it's also pretty clear that the bit about confessing sins is encouraging a culture of openness and honesty wherein people are up front about things they do wrong and in return they're also willing to be quick to forgiveness.
Absolutely, on a positive note this is one of the types of scriptures that endears even non-believers to the New Testement.
Its spirit is the very opposite of what Watchtower prescribes.

If an elder is on you about confessing some sin remember what they told me " the New Testament was written for the anointed" so if your not anointed these scriptures don't apply.
Crazy guy Too right! LoL!!!

Pale.emperor Is right. This scripture is so clearly taking about the literally sick. They also were ignorant enough to believe that sinning caused*literal illness* , hence the bit about sin!! What this is describing is the " laying on of hands".
Due to this forced Catholic confession and the shunning policy, many people are becoming " DOUBLE LIFERS" as its called; and Watchtower doesn't like it!
since the australian royal commission, a lot of jw elders have been outed for either being pedophiles/molesters or for enabling it.
the jw elders who enabled it, are publicly outed to their community online and offline.
it's become a congregational matter with the entire kingdom hall and someone said that this elder would lose his eldership possibly, due to it "being known in the congregation and community" that he enabled child sexual abuse.
The main info I'm digging at is can an elder who has followed the 2 witness rule , and who is now outed publicly for enabling child sexual abuse be demoted, because it is "known publicly about him"?\
Watchtower has a huge thing about image - someone who has committed a 'sin' can get away with it depending simply on whether this ' sin'is common knowledge or secret, rarther than what is in their heart. Its incredible.
I can completely see the Org demoting elders whose behaviour toward abuse victims is locally known and considered horrific. This despite the fact their unpopular behaviour was directed by the Org itself. Remember an elder must have a reputation ' without spot'.
Confronting abuse victims with their abuser tends to ruin ones reputation....and jworg is *all about the image and not the content.*
jehovah's witnesses have had to revise their chronology and various doctrinal interpretations due to events and scholarly corrections.
but the one teaching where they have been consistently ahead of the curve is the importance of jehovah's name.. .
i'm going to run through a (necessarily selective) timeline of jw events and scholarly publications that demonstrate the phenomenal success of this teaching in the last days.
Another Slimboyfat troll post. This breathless posturing - " the last days" the groundbreaking Watchtower - oh please.
IAW was used by one break off sect of Jews near the first century.
...........why would an all-powerful christ, whom the bible describes as having been given "all authority", need 144,000 other king/priests as "helpers" to run his universal organization?
(matthew 28:18) .
1 corinthians 15:25 - "for he [not 144,000] must rule as king until god has put all enemies under his feet.".
why would an all-powerful Christ, whom the Bible describes as having been given "all authority", need 144,000 other king/priests as "helpers" to run his universal organization?
Not to mention the myriads and myriads of angels to do Jesus bidding.
Of course JW's say only the 144,000 can really " understand our human frailties and imperfections".
If Antony Morris 3rd is among them, I very much doubt that!
the second half of 1 corinthians 7:39 reads "...she is free to be married to whomever she wants, only in the lord.".
so we all know that scripture for being doctrine for witnesses when they select a marriage mate and how they are strictly encouraged to marry amongst themselves and look down upon or marked if they marry an outsider.
i have a friend who met a worldly man and when it came to light, her father gave her the option to end the relationship or to marry him, and she chose the latter.
Long hair gal The religion couldn't care less if single women ended up poor or dead. This is why I was SO right to have never listened to these sonofabitches!!
This is heartbreakingly true.
Humble, hardworking always at everyone's beck and call. The workhorses of the org.
Have you read "Animal Farm" where the poor dear draught horse works himself into an early grave for the ruling " pigs" in the Big House? They turn him into glue when he's dead.
He represents the single women in The WTBTS.
as i have come to see i have way more friends at school than my kingdom hall but if i get asked about school and i say something about my friends or ask to hang out with my friends to my aunt she gives me a talk about not to like worldly people to much.. for example i ask to go to my friends house (that is a girl)i have known her from 1st grade and my aunt gets mad at me saying what if she says i raped her or something but she lets me go by my self with brothers to hang out if i want but theres a chance i will get raped there to.. read my other posts to understand my story .

Wake me up before you Jo-ho, A kid48
I would just bring up the 1006 victims of paedophiles within the organization *in Australia alone* if they bring up the " dangers" of worldly people. Also if they are so dangerous KNOCKING ON THEIR DOORS is about the most dangerous thing you can do!!
A kid48I know she's your Aunt, and your only family now, which is why Its so, so important NOT to get baptised - so she won't have to shun you in the future. Even if the pressure to do so is intense for a while, it will slacken off and as you grow up and leave home they will most probably learn to accept you as you are.
