Thank you Brokeback Watchtower I love Woody Guthrie he calms me and makes me feel at peace like no one else. Which is funny since he's so mad with the world and cynical half the time!

Facing Existential Dread
by Brokeback Watchtower inthe watchtower corporations main appeal is a everlasting life, this makes it possible for one to avoid existential dread.
this type of anxiety is a part of the human condition, and it explains the appeal of many religions to the human condition as it offers some relief from the anxiety about our life ending.. psychologist show the importance for facing this dread/anxiety.
my feeling is that the more you can accept the fact that your life is very very temporal, the better you will live your life as you accept that you are very temporary and try to live life to the full and not be duped by religions appeal to calm this anxiety.. https://www.calmclinic.com/anxiety/types/existential .

I have that dread in bucket loads.
But it's pavlovs dog with me, I'm come close to death a few times ( I actually did stop breathing this year and ended up in ICU). But I am only just 50 and I have young children...I also wasted much of my life being controlled by a religion and a god who never existed.
I finally come to the realization religion plays on this fear and uses it to control people. Its absolutely true.
People were more religious when they are poor and or live in precarious environments and death comes at any time.
The young of the 1st world don't fear death as it's so far away from their every day experience. The elderly become tired, they reach their peace when they know death is inevitable. Being a nurse I have seen the fear of death is so many eyes.
I have some older family members who used to tease me for being religious. Now, in their early 70s they start attending church. Hypocrites. The older I get the more of an atheist I become....when I see how unfair the world is. I defy any GOD who has allowed this to happen to judge ME.

These men are also the ones making big bucks in the form of wages/and or dividend pay-offs on investments.
I note that William Malenfant has been on JW Broadcast , I think a couple of times.

Out of the world, into the Truth
by apalro infor some background - i studied on & off as a child with a jehovah's witness who has been patiently working on lots of our family for more than a decade and never gave up on any of us.
as a middle-schooler and a highschooler, my love for jehovah and any association with my childhoood bible teacher... faded.
disappeared.

Please look at jwfacts. Com
If it's the truth you've got nothing to loose right?
Except it's a cult that prays on the young vulnerable and unhappy....and you fit the bill. Everything you've achieved has been YOU 100%. If you think god helped you pass a driving test but that same god let 40 Phillipino jws in a Kingdom Hall die getting swept away in a typhoon, what does it make that God? Or the other millions of praying suffering hungry children?

Happy 1st PIMO Anniversary To Me: A Look Back
by neat blue dog init was just about a year ago exactly that i really and truly decided in my mind where i stood and as rutherford would say "face the facts".
before that, there was a period of about two years where i almost felt like i had a dual personality, vacillating between pro and anti jw, a very confusing, draining mental state to be in.
and it all started over seven years ago in 2010, when i read "apostate" material on the internet.

I think some estimate well over 200,000 early Christians were martyred.
The WTS decides that a large proportion of those must have been fake and died for their fake beliefs.
But all their guys now are 100% legit. Yup.
Yup. I think Nero martyred 40,000 in one purge alone.
But if you happened to be at a conference at Cedar Point, Ohio in 1929 you're automatically in, no matter if your the biggest sod out there.

Leah Remini Scientology series might tackle Jehovah's Witnesses in season 3
by jp1692 ini've seen comments by some on leah's expose on scientology: aftermath.
she actually won an emmy for this show.
rumor is that she might take on jehovah's witnesses in season 3. .

So, if she's charitable enough to do a segment about Jehovah's Witnesses, I certainly hope there will be courageous, well-spoken ex-Witnesses appearing on the show who are SHOWING their faces and are not seated in the darkness hiding their face with voice obscured like they are running from the mob!
Some will be interviewed on screen...no doubt. There are enough of us.
But....having obscured faces and voices interviewed will demonstrate to the public that it IS a captive org and that their many trapped awake jws whose families have been weaponized and used against them, so they fear to show their faces.

Lords Witnesses - JW splinter group - latest predictions
by dozy inamongst the many jw splinter groups , the "lords witnesses" are amongst the more interesting / amusing / depressing ( delete as applicable ).
the de-facto leader , gordon ritchie , was quite a well known jw in the uk in the past.
there was an amusing article in the times about him a few years ago ( https://www.thetimes.co.uk/article/the-end-of-the-world-is-nigh-its-name-is-gordon-g3qxf8w5fn9 ) firewall / free to subscribe.

JW Stumper Questions - List You Best Here
by pale.emperor inhi guys.
sooner or later we're going to get a jw knocking on our door.
just like when we were jw's doing the knocking, it's good to have a question prepared to get them thinking about their own beliefs.

I'd say,
Why is it in so many passages of the NT, when Jesus speaks he prefaces his words with:
"Truly I say to you" or " Truly I tell you"
So why is it when Jesus is on the stake talking to the criminal beside him he says, according to you:
"Truly I say to you TODAY (comma)you will be with me in paradise".
Why after so times using the expression 'truly I say to you' he suddenly adds the 'today'. Doesn't it seem more likely the comma comes BEFORE the today?
