Ahhhhh that felt quite good when they let them in and fed them up! Kinda felt sorry for those lads in the UK, so young and away from home for 2 years. But elder??!!

OntheWayOut No, she is a JW. I mean the old C.O. literally thought white JW's marrying black JW's was "spiritually" bad.
Spiritually bad my @$$ - that man was a racist.
There's an ex-Walkill bethelite who has posted on you tube about the racism at Bethel/within the organisation.
I have to be fair and say in the UK if your man the CO said such a thing to you he'd have been disciplined....even back in the 80s and 70s. I'm sorry you guys had to go through that.

OntheWayOut do you mean 'mixed' religiously? When the Witnesses use that word that's usually what they mean, but I thought your wife was still in?
Appointed someone with severe learning difficulties in my cong. He was an M.S. for a lifetime! They prayed about it, and thought it unfair not to appoint him elder, in the end!

Who has a harder time leaving JW's - Born Ins or those who converted?
by HeyLittleGirl inmy freind (who is also out) and i were talking about this the other night.
i was a born-in, 3rd generation jw and she converted when she was in her late 20's.. when she left, she said that she knew the world wasn't as bad as she was told as a jw, so she knew she would be fine.
also, she still had lots of "worldly" family who welcomed her back with open arms.. it was harder for me - i had nobody in the "world", no family or freinds.

Harder for born in because of the family being held hostage.
One thing I will say, I believe converts make more of a commitment than born-ins....and it may be harder to admit you are wrong and the blame is yours. There is definitely more sympathy for born ins, and I don't think that is quite right.

Do They Still do Door-to-Door as Much as Before?
by cofty insince the advent of the trolleys do the majority of jws still go door to door like we used to?.
do they still have meetings for field service on sat mornings and sun afternoons where most head off to the local territory while one or two go to do trolley work or has the importance of door to door work reduced?.
with the reduction of printing wts and awakes what will they offer at the doors?.

The Metropolitan Witnessing arrangement, which is basically the same cart work as everyone else but with a fancy badge so only the select few can take part is slightly different in that this work takes place for far longer, all day into the evening typically, but because it's essentially limited to pioneers then it's OK to conflict with congregation FS events.
I don't think the old pioneers I knew as a youngster would have tolerated this cart work - standing around for hours on end with nery a soul to talk to - I like to think they were committed, true believing preachers of the good news.
I get a doorknock about once a year or two.....hubby answers the door and hustles them away before there's a scene LoL!!

January 2018 Study Watchtower - if only J.W.'s knew the truth!
by The Fall Guy inpage 19, paragraph 12: "with prayerful consideration, the governing body strives to be faithful and discreet with regard to how the organization’s funds are used.".
yeah, i "prayed" too - that more and more j.w.
's would discover that millions of dollars of their hard-earned cash were being misused to shut the mouths of j.w.

Well this backs up SBF theory....we all know they're as transparent as a window and as subtle as a brick.
They've written this in case it all goes tits up!!

Everlasting life on a stick
by truthseeker ini think the watchtower is the only organization that can promise a product (everlasting life) and never deliver it.. what fools we've been to believe this nonsense..

DeeGee It is said that religion satisfies psychological needs. Young people, especially, are given to idealism and this was true of me. My idealism, among other things (dysfunctional, stressed family life) made me easy pickings for the WT's live forever on a Paradise earth ideology.
This could be me, too.
Isn't it sad that Watchtower takes advantage of the trusting nature of children. Its often the most sweet natured of children that gets suckered in, too.

Damon Wayans was apparently at 2017 Annual Meeting
by Richard_I infrom this post on reddit.com/r/exjw, damon wayans was at the 2017 annual meeting.
the wayans were raised as jw's but i don't think any of them stated.. strange to see him here.
this is the same man who defended bill cosby from all the sex abuse allegations..

Is this as in Ricky?
Brilliant....although in some cases it could be inverted....I'm thinking Stephen Lett and a couple of elders I've known.

The Watchtower's Real Crisis
by JeffT inwhen discussing the watchtowers financial problems, i've generally been of the opinion that they probably are not in a real financial crisis.
i've come to believe that money may be something of an issue, but its wrapped up in a much larger problem.
this came to me this morning when reading about the annual meeting.. i think the society's leadership is just plain out of ideas.

ZEB this is an excellent summary. Trust lawyers to get it right.
It mentions women are able to be " ordained" in the church. I'm guessing that means enrolled or baptised into, although I always thought ' ordained' signified becoming a minister. I expects WT perhaps insists women are, in fact, ministers, in that they preach???
