I remember, as a young child, being told that for family members it was "spiritual association' only that was forbidden. That was mid to late seventies. They started tightening up around 81 for sure because shunning was extended to DA people at that point.

Shunning revered?
by new boy inin 1974 the society had changed there stance on shunning dis-fellowshipping people.
they said you could have limited association with those who were dis-fellowshipped.. what year did they change it back to the old way of shunning people?

With information now reduced to almost cut-off then the parochial "I think", "I heard the other day" "We assume.." will now rife forth with ever more embellishments until the wt 'message' is not recognisable.
Darn good point. Won't Watchtower loose more control?
I wonder if the time will come when only special, selected "kingdom preachers" will be set loose on an unsuspecting world?!!

Grounds for divorce and other questions
by new boy indoing research for my book.
since i no longer have any of of the watchtower bible and truck society publications.
1. was it true (and believe it was) that in the nineteen sixties that even if one of the marriage mates was a homosexual that this was not concerned grounds for divorce?.

Physical abuse is grounds for *seperation*....not divorce.
The infamous line considered extreme physical abuse and spiritual endangerment in the same sentence....intimating apostacy is to be likened to domestic violence, but that in either case neither partner is scripurally free to marry . It then went on to quote the Bible as saying "if a man marries a divorced women he makes her an adultress" or similar wording.
I'm sorry I don't know the exact Watchtower it's quoted from, but it's fairly recent. I'm sure can be found on JW.org or Avoidjw.org.

My Invisible (cat)
by TerryWalstrom inmy invisible (cat) .

I too speak fluent "cat".... 😻😺
Me too, but I'm a beginner. I was hoping my relatively fluent DOG would help me, but apparently they are totally unrelated. Either that or my DOG is mighty rusty.
ps. Sometimes my cat uses mighty bad language - and swears like a trooper. We invited another cat for tea the other day and it was really quite shocking ....is this common for cats or has mine absolutely no manners? -

I totally relate to being the kid who HAS to look every single word up - the more obscure and bizzaro the better!
And you know what? It really works! I was tested and had a reading age of 17 when I was 10.
The shaggy cat tail was.....stupendous!! Incredibly emotional. I don't know how old you were when you lost your mother. Her loss may go some way to explain why you became a jw.

Who is "The" Creator ? Jehovah or Jesus ?
by smiddy3 inis jehovah the creator ?.
apparently jehovah created the "word" or "logos" ( jesus).
and he never created anything else according to bible scripture.. however the first born of creation the logos /jesus was used to create everything else in the material world.. so then isn`t jesus also a creator ?.

a Watcher : look at the context. Most translations say BY him
"For by Him all things were created that are in heaven and that are on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or principalities or powers. All things were created through Him and for Him.”

This is a really good observation, and wow I'd never remarked on the hard hats but now I picture it, it's absurd!
I was taught that perfect people won't , foe example, slip and fall from a roof. But of course that's only considering human error....There are many factors that can go into an accident as you say. What about chemical reactions? Will god change physics itself so rust isn't a thing? Metallurgy?!! I know it's answering a question with a question, but it's by way of agreeing with the absurdity of the paradise proposition!

Barred from entering kh
by poopie ina friend of mine called last night we will call him tom.
he is df now for 2 yrs for associating with a a df person non relative.
anyway he arrived at the meeting this week and was informed by 3 elders that he was no longer welcomed at the hall.apparently he was caught greeting someone in the parking lot after meeting.

Yeah, there's something not right about this story.
How you guys can't imagine a scenario where those swines wouldnt attempt to ban someone DF who consistently " shared a greeting" to JWs is beyond me.
I'm sure the guy probably got worked up and tried to argue the toss with them, yes, but without doubt refusing to "respect the disfellowshipping arrangement " would result in permanently getting the boot.

- This is a huge one to me Vandy. That you can be anointed ( born pre-1934), resurrected (die pre armageddon) or destroyed (live till Armaggeddon) based soley on the accident of your date of birth. Also at any given time there will be around a billion young children destroyed at Armaggeddon - whatever date is chosen by Jah.
- How is that at all reasonable.
- Also, good one about stored blood for testing, didn't think of that.

Paradise? Was it?
by TerryWalstrom inparadisewas it really paradise to be in paradise?adam and eve never were held by a mother, never cuddled and sung to with a lullaby nor nursed or coddled with tenderness or any human familial embrace.
the first humans (adam and eve) never learned to toddle surrounded by brothers, sisters, aunts and uncles and grandparents cheering them on.
the entire experience of childhood was excised surgically like a trauma patient awakening from an accident with amnesia.adam and eve were never in a neighborhood with other kids forming friendship bonds for life and exchanging dreams and hopes for a future they were building in their community.

Isn't it funny how we us humans can be such harsh critics of the generation before.
But imagine....what on earth would we be without them.
Terry your imagination just blows me away!
