  back in the 1960s there was, seemingly, a brief period of relaxation in authoritarianism among jehovah's witnesses.

  those who have read raymond franz's 'crisis of conscience' will have heard the story about dan sydlik's remark about the need to 'open some windows to let some air in here'.

  we brits are being bombarded with facts and speculation about the horrific consequences of either corbin or johnson getting into power .

  another thread has discussed the anti-semitic leanings ( or not ) of corbin .

  what do people think about the left's claims that boris would sell off the nhs ,only this morning l saw a post on fb saying that " america is demanding full access to nhs records " it has been pointed out by a political reporter on the bbc that the talks that the papers were leaked about happened before johnson became pm and these were just things that have been put on the negotiating table by the usa .

  Oh give me a break. Corbyn is for the under dog in this situation, as are the left in most situation.

  The only thing the experts do agree on with watchtower is that Paul has no conception of the Trinity.

  The worse thing they’ve done imho is substitute Grace for undeserved kindness. Undeserved makes it sound like they should scramble in the dust as lowly worthless beings. It makes it easier for Watchtower to demand JWs work for their salvation and be denied it at any time, even totally should they trip up just before the big A.

In the Catholic Church, the vicar is the representative of a higher-ranking official, with all of the same authority and power that that official has. Calling the pope the "Vicar of Christ" implies that he has the same power and authority that Christ had over the church.

  Jesus said that many would claim his authority saying I am he.

  Oh it’s worse than that.

  Watchtowers October-Pope claimed that THEY TAKE THE PLACE OF CHRIST. and are mediators between God /Christ and Jehovah’s witnesses of the great crowd.

  "Get Over It!"

  this is what my children tell me... get over the whole jehovah's witness thing!

  yes, they tell me they have gotten over the whole thing and they tell me that and i need to also.

  my exgirl friend who was raised as a jw also has said the same thing.. my children say they got over it, however they are quick to point out how messed up their lives are now because of no college education and other missed opportunities.

  Ive read your work and your posts and I know the suicides have deeply affected you. Traumatised you more than anything. Have you ever thought of working for the Samaritans or another suicide hotline? A dear, dear friend of mine took his own life 4 years ago next June. I will never get over it.

  Im completely with you on this. If you did get over it you would be in humane imho. Do your kids speak to their mother? If not they may be more damaged than they think.

  Well it’s one thing muddle through pioneering ( but really sitting in coffee shops or next to a cart all day) if you are genuinely disabled. We all know few of them genuinely preach all day. But it is quite another to go ahead and have 4 kids but instead of bettering their life working free for Watchtower whilst claiming to be available for work.

  if i remember correctly it was some lie about all the fossils ever found would fit on a single table.

  the reality is that there is an embarrassment of riches illustrating the evolution of life.

  Heart warming words from my 13 year old granddaughter during our Thanksgiving dinner

  we had our first family thanksgiving gathering this last thursday with our youngest sons family.

  before we started to eat we went around the table saying what we were thankful for.

  what our granddaughter had to say brought tears to our eyes.

  ADD Oh my goodness that is heartbreaking (in a good way). It makes me think of everything other children miss out on - something more precious than grandchildren - yes, I said it. grandparents. Nothing even comes close to the love a kid feels for his or her grandparents.

  I own my life your grand daughter is stunning. She is going to be a very beautiful young woman!

  i used to work with an elder every day for several years.

  one thing that helped me out of the cult was his hypocrisy.

  our work was in construction and it would often run us late for meetings.
