  evening all.. during today's midweek bore-athon my mind was wandering as usual, and i was doing some (oh the horror!

  ) thinking.. nothing screams 'cult' more to me than dubs calling each other brother.. "that was an excellent talk tonight brother anderson".. "brother jones, we really need to go in service together again soon".. is it just me using people's first name.. "hi john how's it going?

  Anna marina Another thing I remember - congregations used to send their love to each other via the speakers. Then they were told to stop sending love to one another

  youre kidding!! Oh the control is unbelievable now!

  Interesting that we did use the ”brother” and ”sister” address on the platform - it’s like we’re performing, it’s not genuine.

  I have to say I used first names unless I was talking about someone elderly, then I’d say ‘Sister Anderson”etc (when I was young, just out of respect, really)

  Pretty sure Mike and Kim are keeping track. I think we did start a thread somewhere, not sure of the title. It might be useful to have a thread of dissolved Congo’s in “Best of” section? I know they won’t really be best threads but they are the best news LoL.

  I wonder if we should have some kind of separate listing for it? Maybe simply “congregation news”?

  every once in a while you hear people say they actually “miss” their old witness friends and or family.

  some would have even stayed in the organization if they became a bit more liberal and open minded.

  A Watcher you can have a relationship with god without attending Watchtower meetings.

  There must be another reason you attend. Family? Loneliness? If you were “raised in” you might find it soothes you.

  Ive noticed witnesses are soothed when you start to use metaphors or stories\ illustrations as you speak. It’s incredible what childhood indoctrination can do to the psyche.

  i remember when i was a kid in the early 70s that we always had a baseball game or picnic where they would get together and bring a dish to pass.

  every summer there was one or more.

  we had canoe picnic parties and camp fires ect.

  if this has been posted before, then my apologies..... article in april ‘20 wt changes the view of the locust swarm prophecy...formerly believed to describe the worldwide preaching by anointed.

  ”simply put, these verses refer, not to our zealous preaching work, but to the activity of the babylonian army that invaded jerusalem in 607 b.c.e.”.

  in a recent post about the watchtower’s claim that all animals were created as vegetarians, one commenter said that watchtower could no longer sustain this belief so they simply stopped talking about it.

  i began thinking about other wacky doctrines and statements by the borg that have faded away.

  i’ll offer two of them below, but the complete list must be longer than your arm.. 7000 year-long creative days: watchtower once taught that each of the creative days was 7,000 years in duration, hence the hype leading up to 1975. they believed that year marked 6,000 years since adam’s creation, and oh how nicely the 1,000-year reign would fit as the last piece of the puzzle, thus completing the final “day”.
