Do you think any of the GB have different beliefs?

do you think any higher ups know that much of the doctrine they teach is bunk?

thinking back to the time of raymond franz, how he pointed out specifically numerous teachings that the churches really did have right all along, and really any of the hidden mic apostacy trials you listen to on youtube, you see that even when inconvenient bible teachings are proven, the elders just try to sweep it under the rug and move on.

i think i remember franz saying how one of the gb approached him somewhat sympathetically, but there was nothing he could do.. whether you believe in the bible or not, there are some basic beliefs common among most denominations because they're just so plainly stated, such things as heavenly life for all christians, no central authority structure, minimal use of god's name, etc.

I agree with Smiddy and Vidiot both at the same time.

I think Gerrit Losche probably believes....he’s away with the fairies. Some of them compartmentalise.

Some of them, I’m thinking in particular of Stephen Lett, know very well about the child abuse (since he meets with lawyers on a weekly basis), but enjoy the devotion of the followers too much and the cushy lifestyle.

Remember they are also kept busy, busy, busy. Also remember they did not come up with the most egregious rules - such as blood or shunning - So they probably feel as if they’re personally not responsible for watchtower’s worst excesses.

i think it was called "a mother's thoughts.

" it was a rather dreadful poem written from the viewpoint of a mom a few weeks after armageddon, reminiscing about her child that didn't survive.

in one part, the rebellious kid says, "i can take care of myself in snow, sleet or rain.

I’ve never heard it, either.

But I’d love to hear it and do a cover...only this time with a bit of role reversal. So the mother begins this time and says “For raising up apostate son’s I’ll pioneer in snow, sleet and rain, Shunning you for righteousness I’ll feel no pain”

Ending with the Son, this time, saying “ As I turn the corner of the old folks home, then... walk on by, as far as feeling pain....neither do I”

SBF No I don’t believe Stephen Lett has children and I’m doubtful Tim does, too.

Its an ideal way to produce an income if you want to pioneer, but I find it incredibly hypocritical that this goon is asking for donations because they are so skint and yet has hundreds of thousands to invest n holiday homes.

I am now convinced this man is 100% fake and merely sees himself as CEO of a corporation.Particularly as he denied any child abuse within Jehovah’s witnesses. Yet he is the GB member who has weekly meetings with the legal dept to keep abreast with, and give directions for, watchtowers various court cases.

Covid-19 (Coronavirus) - Status Update Thread

this topic is to focus on status updates & advice (no opinion or politics please).. status.

latest status is that it's serious, probably isn't going to be contained and most large companies are making contingency plans, cancelling large events etc... which i don't think would happen if it was just people being alarmist.

the incubation period means it may have already spread further and infected many more people than are currently known, so expect jumps in the numbers over the coming days and weeks.. tracking.

I’m scared. I’ve been trying to get hand gel for over 2 weeks now and we have one between the 4 of us. I have 14 year old twins and my lungs are appalling, I have emphysema and my husband is a life long asthma sufferer. We have no one to care for my children if anything happens to us. Even if my husband survives I don’t think he’ll cope looking after the children. I’m terrified of them being alone the way I was, and they don’t have he mental resources I had ....they’re not academic so I worry about their future anyway.

What strikes me about all that is just how provincial it all is.

The Jews I would argue suffered far, far worse at the hands of the nazis.

Mankind in general over and again has seen tribulations on a much greater scale. The disciples didn’t preach anywhere near all the inhabited earth.

No. This is local history applicable to one relatively small tribe at a relatively short time during earths history.

What about the Denosovians? Homo Florensis? Homo Erectus who was around near 2 million years? Why didn’t god talk to them? There are many hominids who are extinct!! Armageddon has long been and gone for most “Humans”

Donating Blood a Disfellowshipping Offense?

when i served as an elder i never heard of this scenario presenting itself - giving blood.. has anyone heard of a judicial case where a person donated and was disfellowshipped?

are there any references to this in the jw publications, manuals, handbooks?.

Giving blood for testing is not a problem since it is thrown away once the tests are complete.

The conundrum for witnesses is that fractions they are permitted, such as interferon, require several pints of blood donation...they need to be challenged with this piece of rank hipocrisy.

It’s so very true, and so very sad, that witnesses give so much of their lives to an organization “they know so little about”. I also like the thought that responsible faith should awaken the conscience not atrophy it....what an incredible visualization of the witness mind, slowly atrophies as it attempts to use more and more the “Nuremberg defense” when they do things their authentic conscience forbids - I was only following orders from Watchtower.

NB Gayle I hope to give this book to my neighbour, a young newly single mother born in Angola. She is fully bi lingual but the Portuguese witnesses have been targeting her.
