Jussie Smollett on trial

there is a trial currently starting - even funnier than the baldwin nonsense.. yes, everyone's favorite actor, singer and hate crime victim is going on trial.. i am, of course, talking about jussie smollett.

he's going on trial for lying to chicago police and wasting their time.. he's obviously as guilty as hell, but i just can't wait for this to unfold.. it's gonna be hilarious ....

Imagine if there had been a couple of Trump supporters who happened to be in the area? Heck, just a couple of conservative white guys.

Do you imagine he would have said "oh no, it wasn't them, I actually faked it", or would that grinning racist piece of shit have happily seen innocent people's lives ruined?

Exactly! We often see those we're pretty sure are guilty walk free.

Why? Because "beyond reasonable doubt" is the price we pay for erring on the side of caution in ensuring the innocent are never found guilty.

So it makes sense - if protection of the innocent is our priority - that those that make a FALSE accusation should face the highest penalty!

I have come to the conclusion that a lot of JWs don't care if the end is near.

i was in the cult for years about 40. fourth gen born in cult member or for me ex cult member.

i have seen so many cult members who don't seem to really care if the end is near or not.

they are much more concerned with the idea that this is their social network and they need and or want it just the way it is.

One thing that has changed that I think is quite telling. Witnesses used to laugh or shrug it off if you challenged their beliefs. Now they get angry.

Terry I read the story to me husband (and I burst into tears) we've been married 25 years and I didn't know he had his own Cheryl Ann Draper. A beautiful, clever, five year old girl who was run over - she was in my husband's first class at school. The result of an incestuous marriage her parents had four children...3 disabled ("simple" as it was termed) and one not. Perfect, beautiful, and "very clever" Mary Frost, who was run over by a drunk driver.

My husband says he thinks of her often. But he doesn't have a photo.

It's laughable. I just wonder how they justify to themselves putting in a completely fake story in a magazine supposedly representing Jehovah?

I think they find stories in books or on the internet or, more likely, some CO twists the arm of the elders until they find someone who'll distort their story enough until it's what they want to hear.

T2 Trainspotting - bit disappointing

so, i saw t2 trainspotting (2017), the sequel to the 1996 original.. i love the original, so this film was a bit of a letdown.. first it had way too much nostalgia.

one particular scene, the one where spud, renton and sick boy return to the countryside to lay flowers in memory of tommy, is really touching.

but there are so many more nods back to the original film that it started to piss me off.. another thing: this is supposed to be twenty years later.

Love uni On the other hand, if some character development had occurred or been inferred and they were reformed characters, that would probably have been boring.

That would be right. In my experience all ex addicts who reform get really straight and boring, they are so terrified of living....of unpacking their "risk taking" genes in case the trip gets out of hand!! So they buckle down to the tamest life they can manage.

Are Jehovah's Witnesses permitted bone marrow transplants?

just found this article and am wondering if there has been new light on this issue.

the watchtower magazine of may 15, 1984:.

could a christian accept a bone-marrow transplant, since blood is made in the marrow?.

I believe they can have bone marrow transplant in theory but I very much doubt it would be successful, because every single patient I've looked after has required packed cells (packed red blood cells). This is mostly due to anaemia caused by either the leukemia itself, or the chemo prior to transplant. Chemo is given to get rid of all cancer cells and to prevent graft rejection - so it's essential. Basically I cannot imagine a patient undergoing BMT without blood.*

*Edit to say my experience is a few years out of date so it's possible they've come up with a solution, though unlikely.
