However, two elderly JW men choose not to have any funeral ceremony. If their wives stayed JW, and the men woke up, (which is what I suspect) that would be the only solution. I realize that this talk of obituaries is off-topic.
That is so utterly awful, Vintage. I'm so sorry about these chaps. How awful not to have the eulogy they deserve because their wives are captives of an organization that will use their funeral to recruit more victims😡

On JWN, JLE describes his ambition to create a cohesive community for all xJW's with him (at the time know as '(John)Cedars) as the lead. Then JLE completely botched the AAWA launch project with deception (ie: using an alias to form an actual, legal US corporation) and excessive control.
This is an excellent idea and pretty much an essential first chapter (I'd usually say it would be the intro but so many people skip them!)
I think it's important someone around at the time writes this part as it's extremely important to set the tone correctly.

This is quite instructional as to his level of young egotism and ambition. Not always a bad thing in moderation, when coupled with a lack of education and inability to accept constructive criticism it was always going to end in disaster, as was the case here.
Given the level of ability and the calibre of the folks willing support this endeavour, it's a real pity he wasted such promise.

OK you can get the occasional super spiritual dude who trully loves God who in any other religion would have become a priest or a monk/brother in a monastery etc....but it's rare nowadays in the witnesses, especially as it's getting harder and harder to take the religion seriously.

Are we sure he was? He wasn't a remote Bethelite ie recording/writing/arranging music and performances, was he? Maybe he lived in for short periods whilst doing that but not a "real" Bethelite, as in assigned any shitty, random job for fourth years etc?
i was a bethelite in london for many years then got reassigned to the field and then went on brd from the start of chelmsford right upto covid.. during my years at the branch i was sometimes asked to be on a team who went to homes donated to the branch when some older one died.. this happenes an awful lot, everything is left to the branch in the will.
the unbelieving family is furious they didn’t get left anything and sometimes they tried to get their elderly relatives possessions and there was a legal battle .
but in the end a team of us would go and empty the property and another team would clean it up and put it on the market to sell it for the worldwide work.. all the possessions were sorted into trash or possibly valuable .
In the UK you can contest a parents will if this kind of thing happens. If contents were not specifically willed then there's no way watchtower is getting it if the kids want it. Other relatives would have a harder time as I think it's kids the law is very specific about (as your heirs). I believe it's quite hard to write your kids completely out of your will.
How do I know? My own parents stole money my grandparents left me in their will. My step father was the executor and didn't tell me how much there was, or inform me at all.

LHG I'd love to interview you in a podcast format. Like many women, your story may not be that exciting in terms of reaching the lofty positions in Bethel open to the men. Their stories being so interesting to exjws, because we spent our lives in a completely un-transparent org, closed off to 50% of us at least.
But your story is so powerful because within it is THE essential message we need to get over to JWs and the public. Your message is the one that can save people's futures!

Blondie you are correct that the Watchtower study articles are merely rehashes of the same old thing. Now they were always fairly repetitive, that is true. But not to the extent they are now, whereby they bring every subject down to the same 3 basic ideas -
DO MORE (meetings, study and prayer)
OBEY MORE and be grateful for the amazing, incredible, all singing, all dancing etc etc Governing Body and most of all....
