  Bring on the YOUNG elders

  there seems to be a push to fast track the younger men to become elders.

  beings jesus was 30 when he took up his ministry, i would think that would sort of be an age gauge...the older men were to have their children in subjection, so some were old enough to have children that were old enough to want to rebel.

  ( that's my slant ) how will the ones who have been jw for years respond to being counseled by those younger than some of their grandchildren?

  Elders and ministerial servants are less likely to leave the truth. Appoint them young. On the flip side young, inexperienced elders have the ability to wake up others.

  Yes unfortunately it's the lousy elders who get "locked in" by the power and benefits that go along with the position.

  The good ones will wake up and leave when they see how wrong /unfair judicials are and the other dark secrets kept from the flock - such as CSA and the cash cow that are conventions/property flips.

  They have had periods where young elders, even in their early 20s, were a thing. Most of the congs are women anyways and they've always had to deal with the less experienced telling them which way's up! The only non serving older males will be fed up Pimo husband's, who just want to be left alone😜

  Have you driven in a country that drives on the opposite side of the road?

  if so, how nerve wracking was it for you?

  i'd be terrified i'd stop concentrating for a moment and out of habit make a right turn at a red light into oncoming traffic.

  Joe134 Yup I was in foreign country and on crossing the road I looked the wrong way and almost got clouted by a car.

  Good point! I bet that's responsible for a fair few accidents. I know we get loads of tourists hurt or even killed riding bikes in Cambridge in the summer.

  We had a case a couple years back where a serviceman's wife pulled out of an American air base on the wrong side and drove straight in to a teenager on a bike, killing him instantly..

  The worst thing was that she hit and ran and then did a runner to the states. I think they tried to interview her but she claimed diplomatic immunity. I think her husband worked for the CiA or something, but even if he had immunity (which he didn't) it still wouldn't have covered her.

  They spent years trying to get her to come back, the boys parents even went to the states to try and beg her. She is a mother of 3 or 4 kids herself so there was no way they would have sent her to jail if she hadn't hit and ran anyway. There was a slight possibility she may get a very short sentence due to that but it was still unlikely. She wasnt drunk as far as anyone knows, it was just a terrible mistake. I think it was running away that got to the parents most. Anyway they've sorted it out now. She has apologized I believe.

  The issue was him misrepresenting his fBSinterest in Mormonism to the missionaries, but he reframes it as: “if you think reasons for believing the LDS faith should be kept secret and never spoken about publicly unless it’s through the filter of the church, that’s very telling”. Yeah, nice try Lloyd. Nobody said that. They are objecting to you being a slimeball.

  Eww he's so infuriating. He uses stock insults in the same way he claims the cultists he denigrates do. In this case it's the "you are silencing criticism of the church!!" when the issue was entirely different and focused on his treatment of the women.

  "I always leave my audience to draw their own conclusions" yeah.... absolute cobblers! At least stand behind what you do and don't pretend to be a neutral observer!!🙄

  Even inserting or omitting a comma in a “secret document” can later tell Watchtower a lot about who the recipient (i.e., mole) had been.

  I would assume the more high level the information and the fewer have access, the higher level security they would put on it. Elders documents are so widely circulated anyway It would be silly to go too crazy with security. Any number of other people, including determined non believing family members, could gain access to them.

  Then they get upset when JW's treat them like rock stars and tell them to knock it off? What gives? The reactions are appropriate if what they claim about themselves is true.

  The only other person I could think of, within living memory, who comes near to having those sort of credentials and the (naturally) resulting absolute power - was the God-Emperor Hirohito.

  and how about movies, besides documentaries is there anything at all, any movie at all, any new actor at all that that has any real worth to watch and enjoy or is it all a boring waste of time.

  That's when you know you've reached one of those "age" milestones, when you gripe that the old stuff was the best. I remember when I was young and we'd roll our eyes at the old folks telling us that today's music was garbage, not like the golden age of the 30s, 40s, 50s, etc.

  Now I listen to 70s, 80s, and 90s music on YouTube, and I see comments about how today's music is garbage, not like the golden age of the 60s, 70s, 80s, 90s, and so on. And I keep catching myself about to nod, but I know it's inevitable. I just don't want to think that I'm that far along in the cycle...

  100% that's why I studiously avoid such comments and trawl new music looking for something to love......which happens increasingly rarely and usually involves cover versions by new artists....very rarely as good as the original of course (woops I said it I'm officially OLD AHHHHH)🤣🤣😂

  Movie and music studios aren't looking for great sounds and great stories. They have corporate formulas

  Apparently that's true for popular songs too. It's called the "millennial whoop" I believe?

  Trying to have a relationship with a narcissist eventually damages the non-narcissist.

  Hi I meant to write "one extreme OR the other" so in other words some JW kids grow up to be narcissists and some spend their lives centering others and develop no boundaries.

  And yes I grew up with a narcissist then married one and I'm always second guessing myself as to whether I've developed narcissistic tendencies. I'm sure I have. These men were always in competition with their own kids and so if my kids show concern toward me I'm terrified I'm 'making it about me'. Since my father always did, as did my first husband.
