I'll put money on the Watchtower obtained some kind of tax break or even grant for building somewhere the talks will be given in the local native language or that the Cong is mostly comprised of first Nations people. It's probably why the thing got built at all. I know from the Crow lady poster on this forum that Watchtower obtains grants for publishing and teaching in first Nations languages. Those with a small demographic are therefore vulnerable to cult teaching (and not being able to view detractors work in their own language, of course).

WT Style Pacificism
by Sea Breeze inepisode 203 of netflix ... i am a killer looks at the murder of christopher chavez in texas.
christopher chavez was a 22 year old ministerial servant and a born-in son of an jw elder.
after a thursday night meeting and a quick bite to eat afterwards with friends at a local restaurant, he was kidnapped, taken to a gas station and forced to drive his killers around for hours while they were in the back seat.

StephaneLaLiberte Concerning the situation in the OP, I would've tried to find an escape route or tried to fight back. But honestly, it's much harder than it sounds. Fighting looks easy in the movies but when you never ever fight and never consider it, it is much more difficult to gather the courage to fight back. So, even if we say: In the same position, I would have done this or that, perhaps we'd have behaved like him: scared frozen like deers in the headlights.
Exactly. It's easy to say what one would do from a distance. The "fight or flight" theory is indeed incorrect because "freeze" is a far more common reaction (that I know I myself did).As witnesses - in fact all Christians - we are taught to 'turn the other cheek' and to love our enemies. How many of us can truly say we do? Almost none, in truth. My heart breaks for that poor lad. Leading a sheltered life, he couldn't conceive of the type of motivations such a damaged mind had, that belonged to the young lad who murdered him. We really need to question the background of the murderer. To be so brutalized at that young age, he must have been surrounded with violence and neglect.
I know Witness women are taught to fight back when it comes to rape.
Maybe we can say the witness lads background didn't prepare him for the 'real world' but how many of us are confronted with such evil? Thankfully few of us. My own husband was attacked by two lads who killed their next victim and went to prison for life. My husband is convinced his pacifist reaction saved his life. The next victim fought back and died doing so. Each crime is different to the next as Mum posted above the best thing is to use your intuition, gut feeling and good sense. -

I can read with an open mind but I am skeptical to begin with because prophecy required the land to pay back its Sabbaths counting back from 539 and 586 wouldn’t add up.
Hi Fisher one! can you explain what "paying back it's Sabbaths" means please? I'm so fuzzy on all of this!

“Hanging the earth upon nothing”
by FFGhost infor those of you not up to speed on the latest jw trends, one of the key scriptures the jws are using in field serve-us lately is job 26:7, wherein the writer describes the earth as “hanging upon nothing”.. this text is used to indicate the bible’s “reliability”.
the reasoning goes something like this:.
“see, centuries ago, people thought the world was flat, or was resting on elephants or turtles, or some such nonsense.

I'm been given to understand that the Ancient Hebrew word "circle" is entirely different from the word which means "sphere" or 'ball' which is the root of the modern world for ball כַּדוּר (not Chutzpah lol😁) 'bôl'. I was told that the word for ball is elsewhere in the Bible, so if they really thought it was a sphere and not a circle they could have used that word.

What Evans wrote was a memoir of sorts, although the reviews sounds like he blurred the boundaries between genres, another no-no in the publishing world. I think his whole approach probably screamed "unprofessional" at whoever he was sending proposals
He kinda had to blurr genres because he simply wouldn't have had enough of interest (given people are reading for his content, not his skill as an author and philosophical whimsy. Something I would submit they did with, say, Amber Scorah).
I mean there's been innumerable autobiographies whose point of interest was being a witness. The majority had far more than that to offer. If not the first, they had much to add from being on the Governing Body to working at Bethel, being a CO to missionary work. At the very least they were long time, committed JWs who lived through some of the Watchtowers biggest upheavals. Many were familiar with Watchtowers most influential protagonists with stories few can tell.
Lloyd was a provincial JW. Relatively young he'd led too average yet sheltered a life to be interesting or relatable. If the inner workings of a secretive religion were of interest, he'd been an elder for less than 9 months so the only judicial he had to report was his own. He'd left for the most pedestrian of reasons with the only points of interest involving a salaciousness that was Less "Carry on Vicar" and more "Jim'l fix it" (allegedly...)

P.S. - Toon Media is his Romanian friend Arthur Weber's company. It's not Lloyd's entity.
Yes I saw it was registered to his name but since it seems to have been unused since 2013, I assumed they cooked it up together in order to shift the books??!
Thanks for publicising Barbara's go fund. Me for this really, really important exjw delegate's Ergali OSCE 2022 Warsaw speech vintage.
I was going to make a new thread on it actually since most people won't see it buried here. Would you like to? I thought we could post Barbara's six screens interview ? It was absolutely riveting!

That's interesting about his Dad so I guess I was wrong. Is it maybe that now his Dad makes money? There was the media company he owned that Lloyd also had some dealing with that reported 1.5 million in assets and earnings.
Agree, Pr0ner, that's very strange . Something fishy going on there. Either his Dad is up to some shenanigans, has sold his home or, more likely given Lloyds propensity to stick "Media" at the end of any of his ventures, he has more connections with his Dad than he lets on. Perhaps he was exaggerating his income in order to obtain a loan to fund some project. Perhaps the TTATT documentary?
I noticed the company he set up to profit from Ray Franz's book illegally was called "Toon Media"🙄. Yes it's delusions of Grandeur - but it also goes to show he had every intention of turning it into a money making scam. Going so far as to register "Toon Media" in 2013 to give customers that air of authenticity.

My guess is that early in his childhood his Dad had a bad luck streak. Then quickly recovered and got wealthy. Also, IRRC his Dad's company reported an income of around 1.5 million last year, I think it's somewhere in this thread.
I was going to say as far as I know he's chronically unemployed and I got the impression he lives on disability/retirement benefit. Lloyd was raised during a relatively affluent time in the UK and if you had both parents working you probably had a reasonable childhood. Particularly since a bike was probably the biggest expenditure on a kid in the UK back then!😁I always assumed he was a working class boy from a nice home. You can tell. Upper and middle class Brits have a different vibe about them.
I also remember that BBC interview, it was lousy. I see someone managed to post it.

The question`s GOD beleiver / Creationists ignore or don`t / won`t / can`t answer ?
by smiddy3 inthe common thread of beleivers / creationists of a god creating life is design .. and if something / anything is designed it must have a designer ?.
however this reasoning is discarded when talking about the existence of god.. and if such a being as god somehow existed without a designer why not all forms of life itself as existing on earth ?.
coming into existence without a designer ?.

"depends on.............. the consumption of other living organisms to live? "
This is what I find so hard to deal with.
I watch nesting birds. Seeing a mother bird throw her week chicks out of the nest is heartbreaking. Not to mention the torture a poor frog goes through as she tries to feed her ravenous larger chicks since it's a little too big to fit down their throats....it's brutal. A mouse suffers a similar fate. And that's one bird, in one moment in time. Think of the billions and billions of suffering creatures because our world is based on predation. On murder. Completely aside from humans and han behaviour/suffering.
How can a benign god have designed such a mechanism?

Lol! Well played, Riley, well played
Really? Sarcasm? How brilliant of you. Riley it's utterly patronising of you to assume exjws cannot understand scientific papers. That we don't have the intelligence to challenge the government narrative. There is nuance here and very few things in this world are all good or all bad. I also tend to assume, when I have no evidence to the contrary that profit is the over riding motive in any situation - not human welfare.
The Wuhan virus originated in a gain of function lab. This new Boston virus is terrifying and utterly pointless. A monstrous chimaeric virus, it may have an 80% fatality rate in humans ( research based on transgenic humanised mice). How anyone can justify such cavalier behaviour after one lab escape is beyond me.
(NB Our new British Prime minister has refused in the past to say whether he has financially benefited from soaring share prices associated with a Hedge fund he co-originated called Theleme, which invests heavily in Moderna. Just a thought.)
