I did notice he spends more time 'liking' and replying to viewers, so....maybe this 'knock' to his ego has made him bloody well appreciate his subscribers a bit more!!!

I appreciate there's probably a small time delay and moderators - but Mashee Moto and Arthur are too dense to catch every post & there's little they could do with a livestream 'flash mob' of protesters if people decided to put a stop to his livestreaming & profiting from CSA reports!

he would turn in his grave if he knew the end didn’t come by 2023.. back in the 1970s he really believed in the 75 thing.
he was so disappointed and almost blamed everyone else why the end didn’t come.

Did Jesus say the God of the OT is not the same God as mine??
by Diogenesister inbart erhman states, in this you tube short presumably taken from the video series he has been doing with megan lewis*, that jesus said the god of the ot, the god of jeremiah, is not the (same)god as jesus.
bart continues "jeremiah's god killed (the children) - jesus said let the children come to me.
jesus' god said turn the other cheek" - the ot god was war-like etc (paraphrasing bart here a bit).. it's always been the thing that stopped my fully embracing the bible after leaving watchtower.

SBF The best book by Bart Ehrman is probably one of the least read: The Orthodox Corruption of Scripture
Thanks, Slim, I'll check it out as I've not heard of it much less read it. I've read a few of his best known books. I tended to lean towards Carriers view but the more I learn the more I appreciate the historicist scholars deep knowledge. Carrier tends to look at things as a mathematician would - or rather with a mathematical methodology perhaps??

LMsAThat's a hard disagree from me on that. For one, Wally has time for everyone and I mean everyone. He freely gives his email out, responses are always forthcoming and he doesn’t bitch that he is busy. He also gives his phone number out and talks to people with little thought to whether they could come on his channel or other ways it could benefit him personally.
Boy I'm right behind you on this.
Wally has time & patience for everyone - from a homeless, abused teen who has turned to substances to fill the gaping hole where a mother's love should be. To an elderly ex-elder who is broken at having woken up only to realise he's given his whole life - and wealth - to watchtower.
Wally cares. That's priceless.
From day one Lloyd never had time for anyone who didn't advance his career - and he had no issue in stating that quite clearly.
Another person who is constantly overlooked by the "in" ex JW crowd is Marcus Vaughn, who literally gives out his number if anyone needs help. As an ex Bethelite you would think he would be a popular choice for interviews, etc. But nope.....Marcus is his own man and doesn't toe the "right on" ex jw line. I don't care what his views on politics or potted plants are - he's a genuine person who cares about people.
It's about time we lost that snobby attitude to which ex JW are "acceptable" and who are not. Tossers not welcome.....it should be simple as that.*
*Not saying you have this view @thisismein1972. I think you just made a wrong call. It happens.

if you were a pro tennis player, and happened to be a russian or belorussian citizen, the all england club decided that you could not compete at their annual grass tournament.. let's explore that particular brand of discrimination and lunacy further.

Dreary weather I don't doubt that there are some people who will be deeply unpleasant to those who stop sharing their beliefs.
However, in neither of the cases you mention is such cruel treatment mandated by the former religion, as it is with Jehovah's witnesses.

Bart's views could not be further from orthodoxy. Always have been. Unless you go way back to his youth.
Yes my little dig didn't make it clear he finds evidence sufficient for a 'historical Jesus' in the sense of one - or many - historical apocalyptic first century prophets with a very common first name.. Hardly enough for any believing Christian*.
*But then how is that, in any real sense, being a historicist?? I'm sure that many historians who wouldn't claim to believe in a "historical Jesus' similarly wouldn't deny for a minute that there were loads of first century apocalyptic prophet's with the (very common) first name Joshua? I'm confused.....I don't understand why this gulf between academics of the two camps. There doesn't seem (to me) to be any real difference.
