Interesting JW attire

yesterday while shopping i had an interesting experience.

there was an older woman ahead of me at the check out who was dressed in all black, including her stockings and shoes.

in fact i thought that she might be a sister, as i've seen nuns at my wife's church dressed in similar fashion.. as i waited my turn to pay for my purchases, she was engaged in conversation with the cashier and gave him a business card as she was leaving.

Hmmm, maybe by appearing to to be nun, she thought people would be more inclined to be nice to her

If she's a pioneer, that's likely. If not, probably just coincidence. Funeral?

Some Witnesses really like to keep up with fashion

Whilst that's true, I wouldn't say all black is being especially fashionable. Black has always been popular among women. Mainly because it's flattering, slimming, easy to throw on without thinking too hard and you can still look sophisticated in cheap clothes. Well that's my opinion, anyway😊

Where is Tony?

on february 22, 2023, anthony morris iii was officially removed from the governing body of jehovah's witnesses.

a few months later it was revealed that the watchtower bought him a house in lumberton, north carolina.. however, and correct me if i am wrong, since leaving the gb nobody has reported seeing tony attending jw meetings or participating in field service.

in fact nobody has reported seeing him anywhere, not even at a local liquor store.

February has been a slow month for me because I've been battling a weirdly-lengthy cold-flu virus which has majorly impacted my productivity.

He doesn't have anything earth shattering to add. I wouldn't advise the whole "I'm the innocent party in a defamation campaign" thing. Considering the book's lewd & tawdry themes, it's not going to frame him as exactly innocent when new readers note his prior pervy proclivities (contained in the 1st edition)!

He deserted with disabled wife. His son presumably had more scruples and remained with his mother. The comments he made around love, marriage & women in general lead me to believe he was a misogynist, at the Missouri convention citing women as "a rag and a bone and a Hank of hair"*

like the story that Rutherford became a Bible Student because he had been an encyclopaedia salesman himself and so felt he couldn’t turn them away the people at his door away when he was offered a set of Studies in the Scriptures.

It appears he was a sentimental misogynist. Figures. I've known a few men like that. Beat the living hell out of their wives in front of the kids, but weep like a baby if they hit a rabbit with their car.

*It's pretty well established he was having an affair with the dietician/masseuse he took everywhere on tour with (and brought to live in Bethel). The otherwise unqualified Berta Peale. The following is a quote from Leolaia regarding a pdf she created from a JWdotnet mega thread on the subject:

JWD poster named larc (Carl Thornton) is the nephew of a woman named Berta Peale who was a close associate of JF Rutherford from 1937 to his death in 1942. (Verified by public records that show that the Berta who was an associate of Rutherford was indeed larc's aunt)
Berta told larc's relatives regarding Rutherford: "He was like a husband to me in every way". (Unverified, but larc's wife also testifies to this)
Rutherford was married and had a son, but he was separated from his wife. (Verified by public records, which show that Rutherford and his wife lived separately from the mid-1920s onward)
larc reveals that Berta herself abandoned her husband of 15 years to go to Bethel in 1938. Berta was a friend of Rutherford's personal secretary Bonnie Boyd who travelled with Bonnie and Rutherford to Europe the summer before 1938. (Verified with actual ship records) Unlike nearly everyone else who came to Bethel, Berta started at the top.
Berta lived thereafter with Rutherford as his personal dietician, despite not having any training in nutrition. Rutherford already had a qualified dietician at Bethel, yet Berta assumed this job quickly after arriving to Bethel in 1938 (Verified with data from the Moyle trial transcript and public records)

Peaceful PIt's like my doctor telling me there are no warnings for cancer to occur, it can happen when least expected, so I interpret my lack of symptoms as a sign of cancer.

Simon Most would be disfellowshipped for this - many aren't allowed to speak to relatives that don't even live with them. So either the WTS cares so little about him that they don't bother to keep track

I've been given to understand many non English speaking cultures find shunning particularly distasteful, too. Well it's pretty certain they have no 'privileges' & they may have be able to get around the 'not living together' clause?

But I think the main thing may be the very young death of Dijanas brother. It may be accepted that due to his loss, they cannot live without Dijana as the only child left.

Derek moors My theory is that Lloyd didn't have this leaked to him before everyone else in the community and couldn't find someone of importance to interview about it before anyone else. So, since he couldn't twist it to make him look more important than anyone else, he dismissed it.

Hailstone message AND everyone will be saved? Questions

i’ve not been paying close attention to watchtower developments, but talking to a jw yesterday it occurred to me the society (yes, still use that term - old school) have been sending out mixed messages in recent years.

from what i gather, a few years ago the gb announced that during the great tribulation jws would be required to preach a “hailstone message of judgement” which involved telling people it was too late for them to repent and they were definitely going to be destroyed.

there were hints that this could be very soon, “any day now” preaching could stop and the hailstone message come in, kind of thing.

there is a new approach to ministry where the direction is to just talk to people and listen to what they want to talk about.

the new school for the midweek meeting is completely different and is all about the new approach .

even before the no reporting changes field service dropped right off.

"What did you talk about?"

"Oh not much, the weather, the flowers ... that kind of stuff."

No Zombie that's what they do in China. Because it's a banned organisation, they pretend to make friends with their "target" first. It's quite cruel really. They spend sometimes years forming a solid relationship before starting to bring up religion. They start with regular Christian beliefs - bible stories, that kind of thing, before going in for 'the kill' when they know they can trust them not to spill the beans to the authorities and/or think they're ripe for conversion*.

Imagine if the 'mark' doesn't want to convert? They then get dropped by their JW 'best friend' on watchtower orders.😞

The whizzThe one time Tony the Turd did anything right, they booted him--for resisting mandatory coronavirus shots for the whole congregation.

I wasn't aware of that! Good on him! That's because he's a trained paramedic and the idea of forcing medical treatment on patients is anathema to his training.....to everything he was taught.

When I was a young, a mandated vaccine would have prompted a mass walk out by medical staff imo, on principal. It goes against the basic tenets of the medical, nursing & all ancillary professions. Toni is right.👍🏻
