bottleofwater, thanks. I customize my posts and links now, but the link I mentioned is already there. I'd have to delete it, then post it again to customize it. I didn't want to go through the trouble to do that. I just don't understand why fb has allowed me to hide posts and pictures from a group under the privacy settings, but with links I have to hide it as I'm posting each one. Oh, well.

Facebook privacy settings are crucial to control your info!!
by WingCommander ini just thought i'd start this topic about facebook privacy settings as i am seeing it come up on here and other forums a lot where you have people who are on facebook and then their jw family or friends are requesting to be friends with them and they don't know what to do!!
we are hearing it time and time again: you "friended" some jw family member, long-ago pioneer partner, etc, etc.
that person then goes through your facebook profile and sees everything you've written, your photos of you and your new life including holidays, partners, worldly activities, etc, etc.

One problem I've found with the jw group I created is that I can't figure out how to block them from seeing my links. This has kept me from being able to accept my aunt as a friend because I have a link to a video of me blowing out b-day candles. Any suggestions?

Congrats! I find your post very motivating. I've been considering going to college. However, there are other things I want to do too. Now that I can do whatever I want, I'm finding myself wanting to do a lot of different things. I just don't know where to start.

I think mine is pretty obvious too. I was living one life, but in my heart I wanted to live another life. Now, I'm finally living the life I wanted and not in secret.

Is it okay to be antisocial?
by AwSnap inever since i was a kid, my father would tell me to quit being antisocial.
to me, i was just playing with my favorite best friend in her room after the bookstudy.
i had no desire to sit amongst the bookstudy group and listen to things that didnt interest me.

It doesn't sound like you're anti-social. Just introverted. I read a book about a month ago called Introvert Power. It completely changed the way I view myself. I had always been told that I was a social retard, and now I know that that's not true. One of the things in the book that stuck with me was when the author talked about brain scan studies on introverts versus extroverts. To sum it up, introverts have more blood flow and electrical currents flowing through their brain than extroverts. That's why extroverts are more social, because they need more stimulation. So small talk is stimulating for them. With introverts, small talk wears us out and drains our energy. Introvert minds are constantly active, so we need to conserve our energy. It can't be wasted on people we know we're not going to have any deep, meaningful interactions with. It's a book I think every introvert should read. It's very empowering.

The Greatest Lesson the Watchtower Ever Taught Me
by jamiebowers inthe greatest lesson that the watchtower has taught me is to give the love that has been taken from me.
our mother shuns my brother and me to the extreme.
just this morning she told me on the phone from her hospital bed that we will have to learn her diagnosis through the grapevine.. she wasn't always like this.

by doublelife inso a couple of months ago, i talked to my mom about the new generation teaching, and she gave me the explanation of how generation could mean contemporaries, blah, blah, blah.
anyway, yesterday she sent me a new shipment of literature.
i got the latest public wt, the 2 new brochures, and the jeremiah book.

I just don't understand why the elders are being so strict with the WT if anyone who wants to can just get it on their website.
jamiebowers: Thanks!

Thanks, but I probably won't be reading them. I don't think my mom knows they're on the website though. She's computer illiterate. I should tell her about the website. Maybe I can get her to stop mailing me packages. I'll just tell her I can read them if I want to from the website.
