A friend of mine, who's a ministerial servant in a Hungarian congregation meeting in our Hall, sent me the audio recording of the talk. The speaker based his introduction on David Walker's life story.—Awake!, December 8, 1985, page 4.

2010 Convention Rumor
by Hikaru inum... a witness sent me this in an email.
it's going around as the rumored program, but there's no proof.. if it is real though...is very last one symbolic?
or is it literal?

@Hikaru: actually the "Chairman's Address" and the talk entitled "Conventions Help Us Stay Close to Jehovah" are two separate talks. The former is the introductory talk and welcome note by the convention chairman. The latter is a common feature of conventions which contains interviews with certain publishers about how they benefited from talks presented in previous district conventions.
Yes, the June issue of the Awake! magazine has been around for almost two weeks on jw.org; that's where this information comes from.
@wobble: i guess the 'Technology' part will refer to internet (IM, social networking, 'apostate' websites etc.), texting, excessive usage of electronic devices as in means of distracting the brothers from fully accomplishing their ministry. As you might remember (it has been mentioned in a thread around here), at the circuit assembly there was a talk where the speaker shed a negative light on social networking platforms (Facebook, hi5).

WTS publication: Mankind's Search for God
by Gorbatchov infriends,.
at the end of the 80's the wts published "mankind's search for god", about the global mainstream religion's.. what's your opinion about this publication?.
i think it was written for use on the weekly bookstudy, there were questions for all paragraphs.. after the publication it was never used at the bookstudy, and it was only rarely used in the congregation.. .

Actually the book was released during the 1990 District Convention. In my opinion it's pretty well documented, mostly factual about the various religions. I believe the Society published the book so that the Witnesses may have a reference work about the world's religions published by the "faithful and discreet slave" class so they wouldn't have to browse material that might pose a threat to their faith.
The presence of study questions does not necessary mean that the book is intended for the Congregation Book Study, it means that the Governing Body recommends the book to be studied. That can also be the personal study or a part of family worship.
Although the book is still being offered sometimes in the ministry and has been reprinted with the new, 4-color soft cover (but no end-sheets with the maps), the book hasn't been released in certain languages. For example, the Witnesses in Romania don't have their own translation of the book and I don't think the Society will ever (in the near future) consider translating it into Romanian.

What does BCE mean?
by highdose inis this somthing made up by the wbst?
or does it actauly mean somthing?.
-

During the Communist regime most reference works published in the Central and Eastern part of Europe consistently used BCE and CE when refering to dates. Since the abolition of Communism, most Romanian authors suddenly started to be proud of their Orthodox Christian religion and began using BC and AD.

If we go by the recent figures, I guess it will surpass 10,000. (Taking into account that in 2007/2008 there were 9,986, and in 2006/2007 there were 9,105)

True Faith Jehovah's Witnesses
by RR insome of you may be aware of the jw offshoot in the 1940s after the judge died, they call themselves true faith jehovah's witnesses and are essentially jw's in every way, shape and form, wiwth some minor differences.
found this on you tube, from one of their conventions:.

Actually according to some information I received from a former member of this "True Faith" "association", there are 11 small splinter groups in Romania of Bible Students and/or Jehovah's Witnesses.
One of them is AMIR -- Asociatia Martorii lui Iehova din România -- Romanian Jehovah's Witnesses Association, www.amir.ro. On their website they claim to have done the right thing when they disassociated themselves from the brothers who remained faithful to the Watch Tower organization in Brooklyn, because they thought the new publications with the updates teachings and new, more attractive layout was unacceptable, as was in their eyes the correctly updated understanding about the terms "true religion" and "false religion" (1950) and the identity of the "superior authorities" (1961).
Recently the True-Faith Jehovah's Witnesses (CAMI = Credinta Adevarata Martorii lui Iehova) split themselves on account of headship and as of today there are still fighting in court about this. There's one faction of believers based in Cluj-Napoca, the other one based in Târgu Mures. Besides the website hosted on that oltenia.ro domain (Oltenia is actually a region in Southern Romania ... I haven't got any clue why an association based in North-Westen Romania chose to host their home page on such a domain), there is another site: www.vestitorulimparatiei.ro (Vestitorul Împaratiei = Herald of the Kingdom). It's also administered by some form of "true-faith witnesses" but I don't know which one. And I don't know either whether it's available in English, because the site is designed to detect the system's (or the browser's) locale automatically and switches to that language, if available.
As to beliefs and practices, they reprint the old issues of the Watchtower and books (very popular among them is "The Truth Shall Make You Free", 1943) and study them over and over again. The sisters cover their heads during meetings. They don't go out in field service too often. Sisters aren't supposed to wear make-up or jewelry. Witnesses don't participate in certain forms of worldly entertainment such as dancing. Some of them are so extreme, that they don't watch TV or use computers at all.
While I have certain acquaintances who are members of the group and are nice and balanced persons, I can recall a very unpleasant experience related to some "highly privileged" members of the faith. It was during Ray Franz's visit in Romania in October 2007. We were invited to an open conference in Cluj-Napoca, where anyone could attend. Most of the audience were former JWs (associated with the Watch Tower organization), current and former members of CAMI and certain CAMI leaders. After a few introductory words and Ray's biographical summary and his reason and purpose for writing the two books (Crisis and Search) the meeting became interactive and the audience could ask Ray certain questions. Although the host of the meeting recommended everyone to refrain themselves from asking many or long questions (in order to allow everyone to participate), certain CAMI leaders ignored the advice and bombed Ray with a range of accusatory questions regarding the changes of doctrine that caused the separation in the first place, this way showing a blatant disrespect to Ray, despite of his age, experience and status, and the fact that he had traveled such a long distance regardless of his health issues. Being a true Christian and genuinely showing Christian qualities, Ray remained almost surprisingly calm and answered each question. I also had the opportunity to talk to Ray in private and we've been communicating over e-mail since. His thoughts are always very encouraging.
And there is also some group of Bible Students who reprint the Studies of Scriptures and the Photo Drama of Creation. But I don't recall any info about them.

where is the proof that the holy spirit is an impersonal active force?
by javig inwhat exaclty does the jw mean by force regarding the hs?.
how that force came to exist in the first place?.
if jah used that force to create the universe...would that force ever vanish?

as far as I get it, the Holy Spirit is Jehovah's spirit, his energy, his life-force.
As an analogy, consider us as living humans. According to Genesis 2:7, God gave the first human the "breath [Heb, ru-ach'; the same word which is also rendered as "spirit"] of life," and he "came to be a living soul." Thus the spirit is what makes us live, it's the energy that animates our body. We keep this energy flowing inside us by breathing and eating. Because when we die and cease to breathe, we become lifeless corpses, or as the Bible writer puts it into poetic language, "the spirit itself returns to the true God who gave it," (Ecclesiastes 12:7) since the energy, spirit of breath of life no longer animates the body, it would have sort of 'left the body'.
In a similar way we can view the Holy Spirit as actually the essence of Jehovah's existence, a form of divine energy through which He makes himself manifest in many occasions.
Since God is eternal, his spirit must also be eternal (thus it will never vanish or fade away, whatsoever), since the Holy Spirit cannot exist apart from Jehovah. God has a self-sustaining form of existence, he is the Source of Life itself. It's quite difficult to conceive the physiological connection between the Jehovah and the Holy Spirit, because we as limited human beings cannot raise ourselves to the perfection of the Almighty. But I don't think it's appropiate to consider whether Jehovah needs this force. One things is for sure: he has it, and he uses it to accomplish his marvellous purposes with his people and mankind in general. The prophet Isaiah describes God as having an "abundance of dynamic energy". That dynamism is achieved by 'sending forth his spirit'.
I hope these answers are satisfying you.
