I second wisdomfrombelow's point; the first conventions were scheduled for this last weekend (18-20) ... but so far no news on any sites. JWtalk.net are also planning a spoiler thread, but it hasn't been started yet.

innocent mistake?
i can't remember ever seeing this instruction on a legitimate executable, and i've been using computers for a long, long time..

The "Please disable antivirus software" message is part of the default template of the installer workflow built by Nullsoft Scriptable Install System (the free installer builder produced by the people who brought you Winamp, used by the Watchtower software engineers to build the setup kit for Watchtower Library).

1914, Generation doctrine belief change!
by Gill ini had the dubious pleasure of explaining the 1914 generation change doctrine to a relative who has been a jw for all of his life the other day.
he didn't even know that there had been a generation change and that the wt was no longer claiming that those alive in 1914 would still be alive when armageddon struck.. however, he said he would only believe me if i could tell him the exact date of the watchtower that explained this change.. though i know it is 1995, i do not know the exact date/issue and he refused to research it claiming it would show lack of faith on his part if he questioned his beliefs....but he said he would look it up if i told him which issue it was.. so, please, could anyone direct me to the exact issue in which this world shattering event was revealed?.
i remember, many jws, especially elderly ones being shocked at this revelation, but obviously this particular relative was not concentrating at the time!!

Alfred, actually this was a couple of months before they sent the February 15, 2008 issue to print, where the first change was published ('this generation' = the annointed).

As per the definition of the Society, all dedicated and baptized publishers are ministers. At the end of the baptism talk the speaker tells the baptismal candidates that their loud and clear affirmative answers to the two questions qualify them as ordained ministers of Jehovah God.

Commentary Press contact person?

i'd like to publish an official romanian edition of crisis of conscience (some unofficially translated chapters had been available on the net for several years, but i worked on translating an official edition, which is now being proofread in its composed form in order to get the ready-for-print status) and have to get somebody from commentary press to work out the legal agreement..

No, George, they didn't alter anything. However, the two German files are not bitwise identical (the PDF that's now on JW.org is 221 bytes larger), but the content is one and the same. All the differences I noticed are some portions of text are rendered one-two pixels up or down, but those are counted on one hand for the entire magazine.

January 2012 WT Study edition on PDF pulled from JW.org website
by bnybyt inthe wt study edition is getting a facelift for the new year.. the january issue had been posted on jw.org but.... the boes hadn't received notice by letter of such a change.. the wts likes to play up every opportunity to have a new release.. this time the jw.org techies jumped the gun and went on to post.
the issues for download according to their established schedule.. unfortunately, they went ahead of the fds/gb who too late .
realized the cat was out of the bag, sort of saying.. well, it got pulled off the website, for now at least.. what's so secretive about it?.

I believe the wider margins are there for the brothers to be able to note down stuff easier during the time they take to prepare for the study. I don't believe there will be shorter study articles than in the last 3 years. And changing from a layout based on Stone Serif/Sans to Palatino (URW Palladio)/Franklin Gothic is also a good move, since Palladio is a bit lighter than Stone Serif, thus even though there is a bit less space on the page for text, a lighter typeface compensates without disturbing the reader's eyes.

Simplified literature?
by irondork ini've been seeing comments made about this but have not really paid much attention.
when did this program begin?.
i wish i could have been there to hear how the convention speaker presented a dumbed-down version of the watchtower to an arena full of people who have been discouraged from education in the first place.. .

irondork, the simplified study edition of the Watchtower magazine began being published in English on an experimental basis starting with the July 15, 2011 issue and will be published for at least one year, and continued if it is considered useful and fulfilling in its purpose. Second, a brochure was released at this year's district conventions, titled Listen to God and Live Forever. That brochure, intended to replace the brochure Enjoy Life on Earth Forever published in 1982, uses a simple language, but still it has a more simplified edition (without almost any text), titled Listen to God.
