My 8 yr old doxie wants a mattress and a sun beam. She seriously has a preference for mattresses over couches for sleeping. Her little old bones seem to be getting to her lately, she sits and begs to be put on the couch/bed then hopping up herself or jumping down. She's also stiffer in the morning, needing more time to stretch. She completely quick walking on me during the blizzard and had to be carried outside to pee because of her arthritis (although I think she only did it to be allowed to sleep on the heating pad LOL she's not stupid!) I've switched her from Beneful Healthy Weight to Iams Senior recently, as well. She's very healthy, though, her little muzzle is grey she's still got a really shiny coat and isn't a fat weiner dog with belly dragging on the ground. The only problem I have is her "Death Breath". Never a chewer, I could never get her to take to a Floss bone. Her breath has become like an open grave, but I've been trying different dental bisquits tht seem to be improving it. She loves to go for walks, still too. She begs at the door on sunny days to go lay on the hill in the back yard.

Do 7th Day Adventists, Christadelphians, Mormons, etc, have an end time eschatology?
by yadda yadda 2 indo any of these other religions have an end time eschatalogy that is anything remotely similar to the jw's in terms of chronology, interpretations of spans of time, generations, etc?.
all i know is that the 7th day adventists still hold to their chrono-prohetic interpretations that arrived at 1843. beyond that, do they or any other jw-type religion have anything else?

I have several 7th Day Adventists on both sides of my family. The only thing I know about them is they are hard core vegatarians, or pretend to be (you could be reincarnated as a chicken or cow!). They don't really discuss there faith, other then to ask if they can have a cheese sandwhich instead of a hamburger. I wouldn't put them in the same group with JWs, as I don't think they are a cult per say, as they certainly don't have a problem mixing with there non-believing relatives, or sending their children to Catholic schools and Catholic colleges. This is just my experience.

So the BF is out of state for a wedding. When he told me it was today, the day before Easter, during Lent, I realized it was probably for one of his JW or lasped JW family members. He also happened to mention there was no booze at the function (HORRORS! My redneck fam would be in the parking lot with a keg and a bottle of Jack being passed around!). Is this common? For pure nosiness sake, is there anything else that would stand out as odd amongst us "worldlies"?

Sis. Janet Jackson reveals shocking news on Oprah !!
by ShirleyW inwhen oprah asked if the kids were being raised jw and she knew that jdubs don't celebrate b'days and holidays, janet gave the shocking news that (i'd advise all with heart and medical conditions to take a seat now) she said that yes the children do (as ins always) celebrate there b'day and holidays.
the horror, i'm so totally shocked and stunned!!
you mean a poor family from gary, indiana hit the big time, and although the mother was a jw and the dad was not, and the kids were signed to million dollar contracts while in their teens .

I just want to make my pointless, no nothing opinion about Jermaine Jackson, he looks like a melted Ken Doll, and I am no MJ fan but he is loving the attention that his brothers death brought to him. His brothers passing is the best thing that ever happened to him, he makes me ill, more then MJ ever did. He was jealous, and hated his brother, look at past interviews and things he has said about him, and songs he wrote.

Suppose a worldly person knows too much about the WTS
by dgp insuppose a practicing and, to all appearances, true jw knew a worldly person (me) knows a lot more about the wts than the typical jw would expect.
i mean, the person knows the wts's structure, the general information about the basic theories (chronology, other sheep, the flocks, the anointed...).
i believe that this jw would immediately suspect that the worldly has visited "apostate" sites.

Oh, I know Rich5678, I'm probably more aware of the dirty underbelly of the JWs then my BF who has been exposed to it all of his life. I've rarely posted here, but I've been lurking for almost a year. He has become more "culty" of late though, so I've started responding again and engaging in the discussion here to be closer to like-minded apostates, unbelievers, stumblers, bad associations, and people who are demonized (LOL).
*Raises a glass to all in recovery* much <3 to you all who have been through the fire, not all unscathed, but still for the most part, sane. You guys saved me from making a TERRIBLE choice, making me realize when something smells looks and smells like dogshit, I shouldn't eat it even if someone is telling me it tastes like strawberry ice cream.

DGP, this is what I got for my hours of research.
Those 2 ex-JWs you know, one was DF'd (no matter what the reason, no matter how faithful) so no wonder she is bitter. The other, the agnostic bio-chemist? Her parents were JW by birth, and name, only, and weak in faith, so no wonder she's blase' about the whole thing.
Those websites are run by apostates and those stats are fixed in most cases. We are the most hated and opressed religion in the world.
You can never totally escape pedophiles. There are weirdos everywhere, and in every religion and every culture, JWs are no different, but I can assure you they wouldn't cover it up like those evil Catholics do.
Research your own evil religion! But, don't research mine on your own, you need the help of my Bible teacher, he will re-direct the conversation, give down right lies, and non-answers to legitimate questions. You cannot learn about JWs from anyone but JWs in good standing.
That Prof of Religion you want to talk to who has no feeling one way or the other about it? He has never LIVED the faith how would he know anything?
If you do seek answers from the ppl in my Hall, you can't go combatively, looking for debate. You must go humbly, seeking answers (i.e. open your mouth, you must eat the bullshit, my love!).
They will not ask me for money after I am baptised, even though they know how much I make a year. They never asked for money like those evil churches do.
They will not make me give up my Harely, the symbol of my identity, because it's flashy, expensive, and looks, and is a symbol, of rebelliousness.
I can't give you any answers about my religion. Here, call my Bible teacher.
If you say they engage "racketeering" activities, call my literature propaganda akin to Hitler, or call it a cult again, I'll either severely limit my contact with you, and I'll send every witness I know to your house!

There are more dumb-ass, worker bee answers I was given to really basic questions. Those are just some.

A question for all JWs, regarding women
by dgp inmy reason to ask this question was another thread by highdose, on whether people felt sorry for subjugated women in the organization.. with all the advances that women have undoubtedly made, is there any well-hidden anger among the sisters, for the role they have to play?
are there any complaints about it?
do you see the society responding to those complaints as, say, the catholic church sort of has, by allowing women to give the host at mass?

I'm not a JW but for 10yrs I was part of a family that treated the women in their family as if they didn't have 2 brain cells to rub together. Much of the time these women were the bread-winners, and more often then not, with more education then the men. It seems now in retrospect, that to acknowledge their (the womens) superiority in some areas was threatening to their manhood. In my year or so trying to understand the JW culture from a concerned girlfriend's, and outsiders, POV, that the WTS has the same mentality. Like, "OMG, theye the fact they can read, write, run a house, raise the kids, hold down a 40 a week & them some job, go to countless meetings, go out in service for 100 hours a month, AND organize KH functions....they'll start having an opinion on the scripture, and the doctrines, and then they'll be on to us!" Correct me if I'm wrong, but it seems like they took the family structure described in the Bible and have used it to their own devices.

Katherine Jackson is a high profile JW is she not? Won't that interview get her called in to her elders and calls from Bethel?
Wondering how much of MJ's money went to them after Mama Jackson got her share, it would be interesting to find out if her KH suddenly got a new building or something in the past year 0_o.

Is it just me or do people who think they have some special inside relationship with God come off like self-absorbed lunatics?
by gubberningbody ini mean, i know i'm self-absorbed, however i don't think i have or ever will have some relationship with god that everyone else doesn't likewise have.. .

I thinl that your relationship with the creator is your business, and I can't quote the Bible verse but it says something along the lines that your a hypocrite if you pray long and loud with the door open. Evangelicals freak me out the way they swing and pray. Its like watching people having sex (ugly, married people with lots of kids that have missionary, boring sex, not 2 hot people LOL), it should be a personal thing.
