Like Button
by Coded Logic ini read through the suggestion box and haven't seen anyone recomend this yet: is it possilbe to add a "like" button for posts and comments?
maybe something that keeps count of them like on youtube.
i think it would be a great tool to let people know we appreciate their comments.. i know we have the thumbs up icon we can paste in our comments but its hard to "like" someones elses comment when the thread is already 30 comments deep.. (feel free to thumbs up if this is a feature you'd like to see).

Forty years to walk accross a desert that could be walked accross in less than half a year, unlikely. There is a theory that there was a trickle of immagrents over a period of years from Egypt. The Moses story appears to be taken from Sumerian myths. All this from a quick search on Google.

can an unhappy married woman vent?
by sowhatnow ini continue to be saddened by the fact that i am married to such a selfish man.. i want to know if i am the only wife who has no say when it comes to using the house she lives in for activities including other people.. .
let me explain.. yesterday my daugher who is 35 got a new puppy for my grandaughter who is 13. today my daughter and son in law are going to help my uncle at a job, and my granddaughter wanted to spend the day here, my daugher said shed bring her and the puppy over, i laughed and said 'your dad wont have that, ill have to go to your house'.. after all it will 'upset' the 2 cats they will hide all day [like they do anytime someone including my grandchild is in my home] .. i already knew that he would not like it if she brought the puppy over, [weve had dogs so its not like he hates them].
he doesnt care if his grandaughter would have enjoyed playing with the puppy over grandmas house, where she likes to be for a change, and that fact that id like to see what my cats would do when they saw a dog for the first time in thier lives.. maybe id have liked to play with the puppy .. when i said to my husband that my daughter said she wanted tp bring them over he said.

If you were raised a witness they set you up.... doesn't matter if you married a "worldly". The man is the "head".
When I married my husband (I was out of the borg 8 years) I was still in that mindset. A family counselor told me marriage is a partnership. Took me a while to really figure out that I could "readjust my thinking" but it can be done. All the advice can give you an idea of what can be done, pick what seems fesable.
So check with the community college, tell him you want to take a class. Check the finances and open a savings account in your name. It may be small but it will help your self worth. If you want no statements at the house, ask for online banking. Speak up. Tell him his alcohalism is making you crazy, go to alanon. You cant make him go to AA but you will get more ideas to cope. You have good insurance, see the doctor about your deppression. You should qualify for counselling and meds and therapy are an option. GO
You can have a better life!

We can only edit for a half hour after writing a post, I suggest you PM Simon and he can remove a name. I think that mods can also do it. Not sure who the current mods are.

Helping Grandma Move.
by exwhyzee inwe helped my wife's 83 year old mother move this weekend (30year regular pioneer).
she's having memory issues now and is moving into a nice little apartment built off the back of her (elder) son's house.
among a lifetime of memories, kids report cards, black and white photos of long dead swans etc., i found stacks of old society publications from as far back as the 1920's including bound volumes and rutherford books.

What a "teachable moment" as they say nowadays. Seeing the articals in person has to make an impact (more-so on the grandkids). Hope they see the "light".

A Salute to the Kids of Dubdom
by Room 215 inas the unfortunate school-age children of jws worldwide, or at least in christendom, face up to two of what must certainly be the most dreaded days of the school year -- today and monday, i don't think it would be remiss to do pay them tribute -- the honor of a brief recognition of some sort, say by the raising of a glass, a prayer, a couple moments' reflection, whatever.. i refer to all those of the trembling knees, quivering lips, moistened eyes and hollow feelings in the pits of their little tummies as they loyally face up to the humiliation of standing aside from the masses of christmas celebrants among their school friends.
how they must agonize over dealing with the incessant questions of their mates about ``what are you going to do this christmas," ``what did santa bring you?
'' -- not to mention listening to the spirited banter of their school friends recounting how much fun they had and what they found under tree christmas morning, etc.

I was in the eighth grade and in music class, we were practicing for thanksgiving program.. We had to sing "Now thank we all our God" I was old enough to realize it was probably not a good thing to do but I couldn't see one word that I didn't believe so practiced and sang in the program.
None of my family was in the audience, I don't think any fellow witness students attended. They were probably in the library. I think my appostate ways started early.
