I have no idea when someone has posted. It has been a few days at least. I am in Edge or Explorer mostly. If it is now in a different area give me an idea where to look. I could try Chrome but my husband uses it and he says I mess up his settings.

who has been out the longest?
by stan livedeath inwho has been out of the cult the longest ?.
i'll start--i resigned in 1971, but attended occasionally as a non-interested husband to keep the wife sweet, untill my last circuit assembly in autumn 1980. no connection with the cult since then.
so--its either 47 or 38 years, depending on how you see it.. which begs the question--why am i on this site now ?.

Giordano wins so far.
I graduated high school 1965 and was never dunked. I escaped the next year ( went to stay with relatives) for training at community college. I still have family who talk with me, a couple of siblings are still in and one out but still a believer. I love this place; it helps me keep things in perspective.

Interview With An Apostate: LoveUniHateExams
by LoveUniHateExams inme too, i had to have a study with a jw.
then, a month or two later, another one of my ‘worldly’ mates (dan) asked me “are you going out with emma?” i told him no.
dan had also asked rob himself and rob had said that he wasn’t involved with emma.

How many remember the 15 min break Between the Public Tlk and WT Study?
by Wasanelder Once inas kid i remember a break of 15 minutes between the public talk and the wt study.
all the new ones and "weak" ones ran out to smoke.
loved to see the attendant round them up to come back in when the droning began again.

I remember the break, some of the kids would run across the street to the convenience store for candy as someone described earlier.
I don't remember the changeover to reading the WT before the question so assume it was in the late 60's or early 70s. As soon as I graduated high school and left home I was only to a hall for a wedding or funeral.

Why the Memorial Is Held on the Wrong Day
by Leolaia intonight on the evening of april 18, 2011, observant jews worldwide will celebrate passover seder, a night "different from all other nights".
the watchtower society annually schedules the memorial for jehovah's witnesses on a date that is supposed to coincide with the jewish observance of passover, as it would have been reckoned during second temple times (in particular, in the first century ad during the life of jesus).
this year the memorial was observed last night, the evening of april 17. the two religious observances are thus a day out of synth, at least this year.

Quick and vague Memorial invitations
by RULES & REGULATIONS inthis morning my doorbell rang.
i opened the door thinking it was a package delivery person or local politicians thanking my community for voting in yesterday's election.
there was a middle aged man standing by himself.

This morning my husband got an invite, he hands it to me, says it is for a important meeting next week... The ladies didn't explain it very well. -

No longer a need for a mediator?
by ianao in(sorry to interrupt your peaceful day).. i just had an interesting talk with a jw friend of mine.
during this talk i was explaining to him why i was reluctant to be baptised a jw.
we got into many lengthy discussions on various topics.. one thing we discussed was jehovah (duh!

Verry late to this thread, but if I believed the bible I would mention Psalm 116 and the verse that says
8 For you, Lord, have delivered me from death,
my eyes from tears,
my feet from stumbling,
9 9 that I may walk before the Lord
in the land of the living.
This implies that there is a land of the dead also (at least to me) Of course the Psalm are considered poetic and perhaps that means poetic license was taken. -

JW Dictionary
by thinker inwarning !.
the following "dictionary" may be very discomforting to true believers of jehovah's organization.
if you ask too many questions about these things you are told " jehovah will make it all clear in time.

I haven't been in a Hall for over 15 years and that was for a funeral. The only thing I could add would be Cobe (coordinator of body of elders?) I need some help here. The only reason I am aware of it is because one of my uncles has the title.
Gosh, I miss some of these posters!
