  A message from youtube regarding negative votes on Sparlock videos

  i don't seem to be making myself clear these days.

  .

  there has been so many "dislikes" on sparlock clips i received a message from youtube.. i asked for people to "like" the videos instead of "dislike" because this will also push the videos to the top of searches and hopefully get more views especially for jws searching from it .. i am now getting abuse.. please can people "like" the clips so the balance between like and dislike gets reversed.. ty x.

  They said they have a bunch more childrens' DVDs coming in the series. I'd be shocked if holidays weren't in there somewhere.

  OK, I am too old and missing it - but what is this SPARLOCK phenomenon?

  at first, i thought it was some legitimate cartoon character (disney or such) that the society was putting down as "demonized".. then, i started getting the idea that perhaps (unbelievably) the society had made him up as a negative "teaching device" to warn jw kids about "worldly demonism".... can this possibly be true?.

  surely not even the wtbts could be that stupid!!!.

  can somebody explain this to me, please???

  Rebel8, it's not a hoax. I've heard a lot of ex-JWs say it must be satire/parody when they first see it. I thought so, too. But it's CONFIRMED. From the lips of a GB member himself:

  Book - The Giver - Great for JW middle school kids & beyond

  this weekend, my 11 year old & i started to read, "the giver".

  very "animal farm" ish book.

  very watchtowery too.

  "The Giver" is an excellent book. I had to read it in 6th grade and I LOVE it. And yes, there are several JW parallels to be found.

  it's been a long while since i've posted (i am completely out - wife and kids still in) but thought you might this interesting.. they came home from the district convention yesterday with the new dvd intended for kids.

  They say this is just the first in a series. Who's taking bets on the next one? I'm thinking it'll be about Caleb's sister Sophie. Mommy and Daddy will tell her Jehovah hates little sluts who wear skirts shorter than their ankles to school. And that accepting a Valentine's Day card from some "worldly" little boy classmate with a crush will lead to rape. And then Jehovah won't love her anymore because she "disobeyed" him.

  Someone I'm really close to has been out for several years, but he's always held back on calling the JWs a cult. He just didn't want to go quite as far as using that word.

  I showed this to him today, and at first he was POSITIVE it must be satire. Once I convinced him it was real, he was like "OK, eff it. They're a CULT. This is grotesque." He's a very quiet, rational, and calm person, and I've barely ever heard him even raise his voice. But he was truly INCENSED by this. I don't think I've ever heard him so livid.

  I pointed out the same thing on Facebook when someone posted the video. Part 2 really is the creepiest (and also Part 3, with the insidious childish cult zombie singing).

  Watch the mom's eyes and eyebrows. She's constantly lowering her eyebrows and narrowing her eyes and gets this really creepy, evil look on her face, especially at the following parts:

  "Oooooh...a *friend* gave this to you."

  "Who likes magic? Jehovah? Or...SATAN?!"

  "Do you want to play with something Jehovah HATES? What do YOU think you should do with this toy?"

  Then her eyes get really wide and fake-happy every time she repeats *happy* and *obey* in this sing-song voice. Shudder.

  Typical JW misogynist. TWICE he says that women should stay "IN THEIR PLACE". That alone makes me yearn to drop-kick him in the balls.

  Also: "It's not ostracism. Your family just doesn't talk to you." And the inference that the son you fucking raised somehow has the right to discipline you by "teaching you a lesson".

  In summation, the gist of his letter is "Waaaah, because you're a woman taking action, you are an evil ambitious harlot who doesn't actually care about justice, just self-glory. And your husband should be ashamed for backing you up. This offends my manly, domineering sensibilities!"

  Seriously, why would you care to respond or engage with this macho prick?

  P.S. I got/get called a Jezebel all the time (I think it's the red hair). Wear it as a badge of honor. Jezebel was actually pretty awesome, in context:
