"I have not left the truth, if anything, I am closer to Jehovah today because I realize that His love for me is not based on how many hours I get or meetings I attend. Sort of like that whole widow's might thing JC spoke of"
"I am not bitter, I wish everyone peace and joy. I have found my joy not being surrounded by the bitter and judgmental attitudes of others"

New Light: Don't hold hands during prayers
by RR infrom the watchtower november 15 study edition.. 19 when we are being represented in public prayer, we need to display reverential "fear of god.
" (1 pet 2:17) there may be a proper time and place for some actions that would be inappropriate at a christian meeting.
(eccl 3:1) for instance, suppose someone sought to have all in a group link arms or hold hands during prayer.

It is funny to look at this now from the other side of the fence and see how ridiculous it is.
Oh, and if that was a direct quote from a WTBTS article, an organization piously claiming respect for God should have capitalized the "H" on the word "him" in the last line.

by RULES & REGULATIONS inmy wife took our dog for a walk this morning around 9:30 a.m. and saw a ''service group'' leaving my uncle's house this morning.

Detroit Rock City
by KingDavidwasframed ini was watching this last night and the rant by the young kid whose mother is a religious zealot made me think of how fundamentalists like to compartmentalize everything so they can ignore the facts and reality.
jam: hey what's up mom?
i'm gonna ask you this nicely first.

Jam: Hey what's up mom? I'm gonna ask you this nicely first. Can I have my drumsticks back?
Mrs. Bruce: Your drumsticks are the least of your worries young man. You ran out on God! My son just ran out on God! You are in a world of...
Jam: TROUBLE! HA HA HA! I've been in trouble for the past 12 hours! HELLO? You know I'm going to be in St. Bernards Boarding School for the next 2 years of my life, remember?
Mrs. Bruce: YES!
Jam: I am going to be out of your hair until I am a legal adult!
Mrs. Bruce: YES!
Jam: Then all you have to do is go to church, light a candle, and pray to some stupid little statue for me and all is forgiven and forgotten, right mom? Then you can spend your days in a guilt free pursuit of more constructive activities like telling everybody ELSE how screwed up THEIR lives are. And then you no longer need the patience and understanding required to talk to your own son on some normal plain. And then that way you don't have to think about how tough it was for you when you were growing up and its probably a good thing too cause if you did, you'd realize what a lousy, gxddxmn shxtty-axs parent you are! -

Any updates? (PS I loved it for all the same reasons as already mentioned)
@ cognac, Yes, they "say" it is a conscience matter, but when you do make a "conscientious decision" and "their conscience" doesn't agree with yours, you are marked, blackballed, thrown under the bus (and a list of other terms) and generally treated like a rebel. And THEN, they will look for any little thing to make it "official".
And I used to think the back row thing was loving too until they pushed the point with a DF'd one at the hall and it turned into a shouting match. Of course all of the R&F thought the "sinner" was in the wrong, but myself (who was an MS at the time) thought "Where is it written that he HAS to sit at the back? Isn't that just a tradition of man? Why pick a fight about something so petty?" ...and so on
Me, I just liked the back row cause I'm a rebel. I sat at the back of the bus, the class and the hall when I could. Now, I wouldn't sit there if I were to go to the KH again. Because that's where "they" would want me to sit. God bless their hearts.......... cause you know they need it. LOL

I just got done watching it. I thought they nailed the acting. It can be so confusing at times when leaving and having ones who you've known for years playing emotional terrorism with you. Well done. Now I have to figure out how to get my kids to watch this.

I signed up but don't want to pay for a full membership. It would be nice to find an ex JW though that I get along with.

Was not Jesus and his apostles considered apostates to the then controlling religious organization? Were those in religious control at that time not worried about how the "world" (namely the ruling Romans) would view them and hold them accountable if these "apostates" were allowed to continue? Now......when Jesus was tried by the world, did they really care as to their "apostate" views? In fact, they all wanted to avoid the whole situation. They didn't want to deal with the drama, but only to placate the masses did they get involved. Even to the point of releasing a murderer instead.
My point? Whether they are the "Slave Class" or not, their job would be to serve us, not judge us and carry out punishment. Was that not the job Jesus and God assigned to the superior authorities (namely Caesar)? Was it not Caesar that carried out the judging and punishment of God's son? So in effect, their position that they have taken (WTBTS) is one of Jesus (Spiritual judge) and the superior authorities (executioner). Pontius Pilate was a company man and just did what he thought would calm the masses. Jesus was tried (loosely) and proven to the superior authorities that he had no political ambitions (as charged). So in effect, the WTBTS is no different than the then ruling Jewish leaders of Jesus' day AND by enforcing the DF and shunning policy (along with the spreading of slander about the punished among the ranks which in effect is Spiritual assassination), they are taking a political stance as well and taking the position of Jesus' day Caesar and enforcing their judgement.
And where is this following that the apostates seek? Jesus had a following as an apostate YES. But He was Jesus! From what I have seen, Ray Franz did not try to start his own church. Neither have any here that I have seen. Yes, I suppose a few have over the 120+ years of the WTBTS, but in general, I am not seeing it.
Where else would we go? I really liked the flat tire analogy LOL. Why not go where the Christians of old went? They spoke together in small groups. They never had Kingdom Halls or rented 70,000 capacity stadiums. Small groups and small rooms. Funny, isn't the internet and sites like this essentially small rooms and groups? But apparently, if we don't listen to the cook, we are not "approved by YHWH" to speak about Him. That makes sense now doesn't it?

King David's Saga Continues
by KingDavidwasframed infor the record, my real name is not david.
i just have been fascinated on how close my journey has matched his (critisized by my wife, elders trying to assasinate me spiritually, horny as anything) and have always respected the way king david handled himself and was still loved by jehovah despite imperfection.. now i find that my son whom i have raised since 2 (now 15) is either disrespecting me or purposely listening to the lies about me from his mother and those in the congregation and hurting me either directly and indirectly.
and now find myself trying to figure out how to handle the situation.. his mother tells him that i am not his "real father" (despite adopting him, giving him my name and raising him for 11+ years) and that he has to honor jehovah by going out in service saturdays and meetings on sundays instead of visitation with me (with his sisters, my blood) as "jehovah's service is more important than association with an unbeliever".

Thanks to both of you! It helps keep me grounded and makes sense. I hate dealing with this.
