Is Rev 5:11-14 Worship or Obeisance?

i asked a jw last week the following question, "is revelation 5:11-14 a worship act to the lamb or an act of obeisance?.

revelation 5:11-14 nwt states and i saw, and i heard a voice of many angels around the throne and the living creatures and the elders, and the number of them was myriads of myriads and thousands of thousands, saying with a loud voice: the lamb that was slaughtered is worthy to receive the power and riches and wisdom and strength and honor and glory and blessing.

because it's an act of worship and it is not allow in your kingdom hall.

The same word is used for worship of Jehovah and Jesus. The only reason the sectarian NWT puts obeisance is because of their denial of the Deity of Christ, not because it is the right translation of the Greek word.

Jehovah tells God's angels to worship Jesus in Heb. 1:6 (a verse about worship of Jehovah from LXX Deut. is applied to Jesus to show Jesus' superiority over angels as their Creator, excluding Him from being part of creation Col. 1:16; Jn. 1:3).

Those who worship Jesus are Christians. Those who don't are cultic Arians.

one of the many questions that i am asked is what are the current gb members like, who are the hardliners and who are more moderate.. because of my previous job, at a european bethel, i had dealings with most of them with the exception of sam herd.. these are my observations of my conversations with them and how others who had dealings with them.. other ex bethelites may have contrary views to mine, but i would be surprised.. i had spent a lot of time with splane, lett and morris.

hardliners.

david splane, without doubt the one who commands the most respect and attention.

If I was getting involved in a new religion like controversial JWs, I would want to know something about its history and leaders. Hiding behind anonymity leads to know accountability and ability to verify integrity/credibility.

Nick: I am not everyone's cup of tea. If you read all my posts, you would find something of value. I don't think you post much of value, but I will still read them out of courtesy and for interaction.

I have never been a JW. What % of JWs can name all the presidents (including most middle names) of WT past/present? How many would know that Russell and Rutherford had bad, failed marriages, and that Rutherford (who set much of modern JW belief/practice) was an alcoholic and poor Bible exegete?

Jesus is either God or He is not, Creator or creature. There is no tension here, no grey area, no confusion. It is black and white. Either we worship Him as God or we do not. If He is God, it is wrong to not worship Him. If He is not God, it is wrong to worship Him. We don't have to understand kenotic details, etc., but we do have to make a decision whether trinitarianism or Arianism is true or false. Jesus does not give room to invent an idol of him. He has revealed who He is, so trust Him even without exhaustive understanding.

Jn. 1:1; Jn. 20:28 Either say what Thomas did and be saved or reject what He said and be lost. The details are not the salvific issue.

Camping can have a sound Christology with a defective eschatology. It is a logical fallacy to discredit his belief in the existence of God because he acted in the flesh contrary to Scripture in playing the Dating Game.

Band: Jesus is more than lord, sir. Kurios/Lord was the inspired name/title used in NT Greek for YHWH. OT verses about YHWH are applied to Jesus. In Pauline thought, for Jesus to be Lord and confessed as such is to call Him God (Rom. 10; Phil. 2). Saying you have a belief that is not an intellectual position is odd and risky.

Snow, you are binitarian? You seem to believe that Jesus is YHWH, Almighty God, uncreated Creator. Perhaps you are more modalistic? The Deity/personality of the Spirit is defensible from Scripture leading to a trinitarian view (Mt. 28:18-20; 2 Cor. 13:14). The Father, Son, Spirit are included in the same context. Do you still think He (note personal pronouns Jn. 14-16) is an active force or just the spirit of the Father? In Acts, they lied to the Holy Spirit and it says they lied to God in doing this (only a person/God can be lied to).

all: you are displaying ignorance of church history and the history of dogma.

Judas and Unforgivable Sin

i'll be the first to admit that i haven't done the research on this one, and i can't remember the answer from my jw days - but there's something bothering me about the scenario of judas and his betrayal of jesus.. considering that the betrayal of jesus by judas was foretold in prophecy, it was essentially set in stone.

it was going to happen, it was an absolute because divine prophecy is correct.

judas had to betray jesus in order to fulfil prophecy.. now, i've always personally believed that a person does not sin by an act that they cannot avoid, but this seems like kind of the motherload of standing on the traintracks.

Either the Bible is true or it is not. If not, what would be a standard of revelatory truth that would be divine/authoritative? If it is true, then one should understand the message even if they reject it. The message is an evangelical one. The reason Christianity (don't call any generic belief in god/christ Christian) is exclusive is because Jesus is God and risen from the dead (unique). This excludes every other option as a legit way to God. If it is not true, eat, drink, be merry and pick whatever tickles your fancy. This is an age of relativism, subjectivism, individualism, humanism, contrary to absolutes, objectivity, theism.

'Great Crowd' of 12 people get baptised at District Convention!!!

yesterday, out of 4,035 people in attendance at the dc, only 12 people were baptized.

that is one more than eleventeen and one less than a baker's dozen.. .

want to take a guess as to the age group of this 'great crowd?
