  (video) Calvinists would say that if someone becomes an atheist, they were never really a true Christian. As a free will theist, I would say a former Christian who is now an atheist is an apostate. They also may have had a false, counterfeit conversion and thus were not a true Christian. The logical fallacy must be understood and applied reasonably.

  Those who think Dawkins is a genius are fools.

  If the WT understood theology (the basis for their views is authoritarian structure like Catholic magisterium, not the Bible at the end of the day). They list Luther, Wycliffe (trinitarians) as true heros of the faith, yet consider Russell and Arius in the same category (despite the former being trinitarian and the latter being Arian/anti-trinitarian?!). Theology is coherent, not incoherent.

  Theology proper is still biblical truth about God and His world. Comparative religions/apologetics deals with the false views of god (s).

  Greek word studies are more definitive than English KJV words (variant readings can be resolved and the KJV text family/Byzantine is usually inferior).

  Monogenes (only begotten) has nothing to do with being created or beginning. He is the uncreated Creator Yahweh in the flesh. Without looking at all the verses, it seems to me a different Greek word is used in other places and likely refers to His physical resurrection (vs WT recreation of Michael) as the glorified God-Man forever. I can check the Gk. if I am given a verse or two. Jesus was also the Christ/Anointed from birth, not at his baptism like the WT teaches (heresy).

  Theology proper is biblical and systematic. It is the historical, orthodox, biblical Judeo-Christian faith. It is not apologetics or comparative religions, per se. True theology is biblical, the primary source of revelation about God. Studying cultic false teaching is not theology. There is true, good, biblical theology, and false 'theology' that is error. There are many false gods and false religions, but this contrasts with the true God and biblical Christianity. Secular or liberal scholars may grope around trying to figure out what to believe or not (likely accepting many ways, despite contradictions). We are to defend and proclaim the faith once for all entrusted to the saints and develop sound doctrine/theology based on Scripture (Jude 3).

  Theology is the study of God and the things of God, not man (anthropology). It is the queen of sciences. There is no more exciting subject than theology. Comparative religions looks at religion, including false ones. JWs are not much into theology and just have pat, simplistic answers to deeper biblical issues. They do not do serious research, just spout 19th century traditions that are left in the dust by much better recent scholarship.

  so this is the basic logical flaw in christianity i believe.

  a brother identified it from the stage for me in a talk.

  we all agree (as christians and jw's) that the ransom was necessary because adam lost his perfection and everlasting life.. this is a paraphrase from the talk:.

  Wallace is correct that Jn. 1:1 refutes modalism (the Greek would be different if it is true) and Arianism (a god=polytheism if true god). The inspired grammar, context, theology supports trinitarianism. The world's most prominent Gk. scholars and translators get this right. No one on the NWT translation committee was qualified to translate (Fred Franz had some language background, but probably less than I do) and it shows by the poor English and sectarian bias on every verse dealing with the Deity of Christ.

  Those who think they know more than Wallace probably don't even understand his point about anarthrous/qualitative (supports Deity). Divine, etc. is inadequate. Looking for obscure translations (liberal) or the doctrines of demons of Johannes Greber or Diaglott (anti-trinitarian Christadelphian) shows how desperate the WT is for support of their heresy. Hundreds more (versions/scholars) take them to task for their ignorance.

  The Trinity is not the other gospel of Gal. 1. The context of Gal. 1 is the first century Judaizer heresy which involves faith/works vs grace/faith. It was a soteriological vs Christological issue. Paul was trinitarian. Other heretical gospels included Gnosticism, Doceticism, etc. and include modern groups like JWs and Mormons who deny the triune God and the Deity of Christ in favor of Arianism and polytheism.
