When a JW does not know an answer, they tend to want to pack up and run (some vs all). When I don't know an answer, I do my homework and come back and share what I find for mutual discussion. I will study until Armageddon, but most JWs will not engage once they see that the opponent is informed/on to them. The JW approach reminds me of my sales days and includes canned presentations with literature, handling objections with pat responses, etc. They tend to parrot instead of think. If I am going to reason from Scripture (vs a book with that title), I want to understand the arguments and objections in my own mind. I don't rely on quoting trinitarians to exegete Jn. 1:1. I actually understand the basic Greek grammatical issues (imperfect tense; meaning of 'pros', definite article vs anarthrous construction, limitations of Colwell's rule, etc.).

Sometimes You Just Gotta Score One For the Cult Members
by PublishingCult ini really don't care much for jw's at my door, or at anyone's door.
this chauvinistic, fanatical bully-a-hole, however, is one of the worst examples of a christian i have ever seen.
the jw's handled themselves very well in the face of this ridiculous bullying and taunting by this so-called christian attempting to school the jw's about god and the bible.

Our love for God (not a manmade organization) must be supreme. We are to love our families, yet Jesus said it would be like hate in comparison to our love for God. A true believer (excludes JWs) should not initiate divorce. The Bible does talk about winning over an unbelieving spouse, not divorcing them (which God hates). One must follow God and obey Him above following a spouse who is in a false religion. The WT logic of this wife is skewed. The spouse is free to follow God even if it is not the same religion as the spouse. They should continue to commit to their marriage vows (which would not include remaining in a false religion) and follow God as they believe to be correct.

When I was a pastor, I waited on God for direction and did my own exegesis/application of Scripture so that it would be relevant to where the church/individuals were at at the time. This could be adapted to current events, local situations/circumstances, etc. This was Paul's approach when he visited churches or wrote letters to specific congregations/believers/issues (e.g. Corinthians is issue literature with principles that apply to all believers). Churches/pastors around the world do this without getting pat teachings for uniformity. We can have a fresh, timely exposition of Scripture and do systematic teaching. We do not have to be puppets for a dictatorship (if they are wrong, then so is everyone else). The Bible emphasizes Scripture, local churches, local leadership. This is a check/balance against autocratic organizations starting or error being circulated like a virus. It does have some risk that an individual could go rogue, but the damage would be contained and the Holy Spirit would eventually lead back into truth (if the people are responsive and diligent). The WT model is not biblical, but flawed (uniformity is like McDonald's vs biblical unity/diversity).

Try googling evangelical Christian. We are a spectrum of people who believe the Bible literally, affirm the trinity, Deity of Christ, necessity of new birth (born again Christian is the cliche), salvation by grace through faith in Christ alone apart from works, etc. This contrasts with mainline groups that have gone liberal in their theology and practices (gay marriage, abortion, deny some essential truths above, etc.), Catholic, Orthodox, pseudo-Christian cults (JW/Mormon), etc. We have our own issues and problems, but would claim roots with the first century church and Scripture.

The WT article that says apostates quote things out of context is hypocritical. There is no end to e.g. of WT publications drastically misquoting Christian scholars to say the opposite of what they intended. Any time there is an ellipsis........in WT material, it should be a flag to check the original source for the full quote in context (I have many of the sources in my library and have verified this; in addition, counter-cult material has photoreprints of original quotes in context). The WT has said that we should not fear examining our views and changing them if necessary. This only applies to non-Witnesses apparently, since if a JW had freedom to look at all sides, many more would leave the organization (it is indoctrination and mind control to make people fear critically examining their beliefs from outside the group think; classic cultism).

The Watchtower will make you a slave to a harsh, manmade organization. It puts your life at risk (blood transfusions), destroys families (disfellowshipping/shunning), robs you of eternal life by following the true Christ (Jn. 14:6; Acts 4:12), etc. Abundant and eternal life is found in Jesus as Yahweh, not in a fallible, cultic organization. Flee it and run to Him or expect more stress and ruination. Your gut and the Holy Spirit is leading you right, while they are just seeking to turn you into a productive drone.

I have seen JWs be total argumentative jerks also. This guy speaks some truth, but it is not in love. Just because he is a Christian who is not Christ-like in his witness is not a reason to think this is proof of JWs being right?! (cmon factfinder). Mormons are generally more congenial to dialogue with than robotic, arrogant JWs. This does not mean I should assume Mormonism is right. The issue is still the Word of God/truth. The Deity of Christ is still an acid test of Christianity, not how nice followers of various religions are or are not. There are good and bad lawyers, nice and evil JWs, godly and jerky true Christians, etc. Jesus is the issue on judgment day, not His followers as hypocrites or walking in the flesh vs Spirit at times.

The trouble with Christianity. TRINITY.
by whereami ingotta love pat.. "ridicule is the only weapon which can be used against unintelligible propositions.
ideas must be distinct before reason can act upon them; and no man ever had a distinct idea of the trinity.
it is the mere abracadabra of the mountebanks calling themselves the priests of jesus.

name (singular/one God) of Father, Son, Holy Spirit (Father is God/personal and no indication that Son is creature and Holy Spirit is impersonal active force). If WT was true, we might see in the name of the Father and in the name of the Son and the active force for good measure. It does not say nameS because there is one God. The 3 personal distinctions are grammatically included in name because of their absolute unity/diversity. Jesus was a trinitarian, as was Paul (2 Cor. 13:14).

'That's your opinion' is not a refutation if the opinion is true and stands up to scrutiny.
